Betarulz! 09-23-2003 01:15 AM

Homecoming 2003: Return of the Bugeaters...talk about your hard theme....

The men of Beta Theta Pi hope to capture their 3rd consecutive overall Homecoming Title, as well as the third consecutive 1st place prize for lawn display.

We're paired with Kappa Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi (which should be interesting given the drama with them over the weekend) and Kappa Alpha Psi.

Forever Fearless is the theme for homecoming overall. Forever Young is the theme for campus decs and I am having a hell of a time writing a skit and making decs based on that. GRRRR.

GOOD LUCK on homecoming Jules!!! Yalls football section is right in front of ours and I think I was standing right behind you at the game a few Saturdays ago! :)

Good luck with homecoming everyone!!!! :D

ETA: We're paired with Sigma Nu and Sigma Pi

AXJules 09-23-2003 01:50 AM

UNLV Homecoming 03

Theme: How the Rebel Stole Homecoming (along the lines of How the Grinch stole Christmas... all Dr. Seuss style)
We, Alpha Xi Delta, are doing Homecoming with Delta Chi and NPHC.
Best of luck to everyone with Homecoming.

axidprincess21 09-30-2003 12:56 PM

For Homecoming 2003, we are joining forces and working with Detla Chi and Pan. Are theme is something of a Dr. Susus "How the Gritch Stole Christmas." We have alot of fun things planned and I can't wait! Good luck to all the others out their!

AXWhoah 09-30-2003 01:00 PM

The theme of this years homecoming is "Paint the town red and blue"...and we're doing it with Chi Phi....and maybe just maybe we'll have a chance to win the football game since on saturday we finally fired our lousy coach!

dixiesong3131 09-30-2003 01:10 PM

Our theme this year is "Beat the Streaks" (We're playing John Carrol Univ. and they are the Blue Streaks). For our banner we're saying "Beat the Streak(er)s" and we're putting two of our girls inbetween the two sides of the banner with just like a tube top and shorts on so it looks like they're streaking. But surprise- we're not the only group going with nudity.

One of my favorite sisters has been elected to Homecoming Court- it's her and like four other girls from one of the other chapters, so yay for greek representation!

twhrider13 09-30-2003 02:23 PM

DZ is doing Homecoming with Sigma Nu. The theme is Welcome to the Jungle. We're thinking of having a float with a turtle in a leopard-print thong! :D

sigep533 09-30-2003 03:48 PM

we got a reallygay theme

"Legends" or somethin..im not real into it..

GamGal02 09-30-2003 04:17 PM

Fun Thread

My sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, was paired with the wonderful men of Sigma Chi and Alpha Tau Omega. It was a lot of fun. We came in Second for the President's Cup, but all around, it was fun. Then at Homecoming, our very own Alpha Gam sister, Shelly LunBeck was crowned Homecoming Queen. We had 3 of our girls on court and 3 Gam Guys on court. It was awesome...

MTSUGURL 09-30-2003 04:44 PM

We're doing Homecoming with Sigma Chi, Kappa Alpha and AOII. There's also a group called Lambda paired with us. (they're not a greek org.)

Theme: Hollywood
Don't know what our float's gonna be...

AOII_LB93 09-30-2003 04:45 PM

Any ideas for Homecoming? Our theme is Roaring 20s.

ZTAngel 09-30-2003 04:57 PM

I'm not sure what the theme is but I know ZTA is paired with Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Tom Earp 09-30-2003 06:13 PM

Jeeze, who are the Moronskys who came up with these themes?:(

Roaring Twenties, Flapper Girls, geaded dresses that giggle, Guys in Suits, style of the era, and tommy guns, tub with Bathtub Gin printed on it!

Hollywood, Oz, Pikes hada great one, paper Mache figures, we came in Second our first year with Showboat.

School we played were the Hornets, BIG Soup can of "Cream The Hornets".

Leaves of Gold, Paint Members of Float In gold paint, not "Gold Finger" type where they die! Paint Leaves Gold and attach to them, like that is all they had on! Autum Leaves by Roger Miller!

WOW, for ever Young. Grease Skit, Bobby Soxers, float, Dressed as Babys and in diapers with big Suckers, "I will never get old!"

kateshort 09-30-2003 07:31 PM

ADPi at Valpo is paired with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (my husband's chapter, yay!) and Phi Sigma Kappa. The theme is Mardi Gras.

[side note: I'm bummed because the VU parade used to go downtown and then through campus, and then about eight years ago moved to just campus, and now they don't even have a parade. Instead, they have a 5K walk/run for charity (which is nice) and a BBQ/bazaar tent (which is just odd...). I *really* miss seeing all of the floats! Now they just do banners, which is totally cheaper and easier, but somehow just not as fun...]

UKDaisy 09-30-2003 10:11 PM

...

My service sorority is taking part in Homecoming this year. We're not looking to compete heavily, we just really wanted to do something campus wide! Do you think that's a good idea? There's a 5Krun/walk, banner competition, store window painting, and drive in movie. We can't compete in the parade part because over half of us are in the marching band, which starts the parade.

Our slogan this year is "Wildcat Bandstand", with a 1950's theme.

AOII_LB93, UK's theme last year was the roaring 20's. There are lots of things you can do. Casino's, flappers, charleseton dancing, book titles (ie. my favorite book, The Great Gatsby). It was so much fun last year!!!

blueGBI 10-03-2003 08:35 PM

Just got back from the homecoming parade....

Homecoming King and Queen are David Allen (APhiA) and Monica Bhagat (GDI)

APO was paired with Phi Sigma Pi and our float was great! I think APO is going to win yet another first place showing in the white divison. Overall, it was fun, I loved it. :D

MTSUGURL 10-03-2003 09:05 PM

We haven't had the best of luck with our Homecoming buddies... they had a sweatshirt made with everyone's letters, except ours. One of the groups has been making it a point to exclude us in any possible way. We haven't been told when or where any of the practices are. We just found out yesterday where the float is. This is my first Homecoming, and so far, it's not that great. We are going later to work on the float though, so it will get better.

starrynight 10-03-2003 09:39 PM

Phi Mu at Marshall University is doing our float with Sigma Tau Gamma. The homecoming theme this year is "As Green As It Gets", and a couple of our girls are running for Homecoming Court- it should be a lot of fun!

UKDaisy 10-03-2003 10:34 PM

.....

starrynight , I Pm'd you!!!

DeltAlum 10-04-2003 03:36 PM

Don't really know what the theme is at Ohio University is this year, but I'll be there. I've only missed one in the past 10-15 years.

As many of you know, this is the beginning of the O.U. Bi-Centennial celebration (1804-2004) so I'm really looking forward to it.

Don't know who Delt is partnered with this year. I'll let you know later.

The overall theme for homecoming is UCF: Forty Years Later.

We're paired with Sigma Chi. and our theme is Old School.

PSK480 10-06-2003 02:00 AM

well we didn't place, I guess the idea of a Phi Sigma Kappa and Tri-Sigma Standing in the top of the cake wasn't what the judges were looking for, being Toga-Clad probably didn't make them happy either, cause you really couldn't see the togas well

33girl 10-06-2003 11:22 AM

mmmm, jolly rancher shots.

mmmm, eggrolls.

mmmm, boys who know how to work the sideburns and shearling coats.

that's all I have to say about homecoming. :D

APO didnt win #1 but we got #2 in the white division which rocks! I think our float was also on ESPN during halftime of the Oregon game Friday night. :)

sigep533 10-06-2003 12:30 PM

We tied for first overall during homecoming week.
Our float wasnt very good tho..not sure how we still got first, i guess our other events held us up.

strawberrysismd 10-06-2003 02:53 PM

the theme at maryland this year is "international cities"; not sure who we're paired with yet or what our city will be...i'll keep you posted

honeychile 10-06-2003 07:37 PM

white division: non-greek orgs and honor frats.

blue division: fraternity/sorority pairings.

:)

AGDLynn 10-06-2003 08:14 PM

West Georgia's theme is Lights! Camera! Action!

Not sure if I am going to the parade but I want to go to the game..at least until half time, lol!

There are about 5 AGDs on the HC court!

AGD is paired with Kappa Sig and DST. That's the only pairing I know :)

ETA..I think I also put this info on another post, lol. oh well, lol.
There are 2 AGDS on the actual court, the others rep other orgs..:D

HBADPi 10-06-2003 10:00 PM

Allegheny's homecoming theme was "Under Construction" since our campus center is currently under construction. (the administration always thinks up the dumbest themes)

ADPis were teamed up with Phi Kappa Psi and we won our float. First time we've won in a long time :D

PS - MANY things at Penn State are divided Blue/White - there are two golf courses (the Blue course and the White course), two bus lines (Blue line and White line) and the Nittany Lions divide into two teams for a spring scrimmage (The Blue-White Game).

It's not having a White course, a White line and a White football team we're worried about.

It's that many things at Penn State are also called "Beaver", and we have to live in Beaver Hall or Beaver Terrace Apts, and cheer at Beaver stadium.

'nuff said.

AlethiaSi 10-08-2003 02:30 PM

my schools mascot is a dragon so we made a HUGE dragon out of chicken wire and that blow up insulation foam stuff and painted it- ok so id idn't do it- i give allll props to our alumni :)- but it looks awesome- also we have a girl running for homecoming queen and we run a contest every year called the ugly man and they have to raise money for our philanthropy- the american cancer society- and who ever raises teh most money is homecoming king... its a lot of fun- this year we don't have a football game- but it'll still be fun- PLUS this weekend we have our 75 birthday party- and its going to be huge- probably 700 people or so- :) can't wait soo excited-

Crystal, my bestfriend is in the big sorority (not gonna say which one because you probably don't want it said outloud) and I was talking to her roomate the other day (in charge of fight song) and she said that they really tried to get yall involved but the main girl she talked to from Phi Chi said "We don't have enough money to help with Homecoming. We have to actually pay all our dues."....and my friend was upset over that comment because just because we are in a national sorority doesn't mean that our parents pay our way through. Most every girl I know pays their own dues. I found it odd yall weren't doing homecoming!! because I knew you are so pumped about your sorority...I hope things go well for you this weekend!
