There's even a website for it: http://www.talklikeapirate.com/

I like the Top 10 Pirate Pickup Lines:

Top Ten Pickup lines for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day

(We came up with these in an effort to interest The Other Dave (Letterman) in TLAPD. His staff liked 'em, but alas, his show is "dark" the week of Sept. 19.)

10 . Avast, me proud beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?

9. Have ya ever met a man with a real yardarm?

8. Come on up and see me urchins.

7. Yes, that is a hornpipe in my pocket and I am happy to see you.

6. I'd love to drop anchor in your lagoon.

5. Pardon me, but would ya mind if fired me cannon through your porthole?

4. How'd you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?

3. Ya know, darlin’, I’m 97 percent chum free.

2. Well blow me down?

And the number one pickup line for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day is …

1. Prepare to be boarded.

Pirate Inventory

Has anyone else taken the pirate inventory? It is pretty funny, and decently accurate. I scored...

You are a Pirate Second Class

Which basically means that I am boring...

Do you have a link?

Try this site to get your pirate name: http://www.fidius.org/quiz/pirate.php

Mine is Dirty Mary Rackham. I'm not too happy with the dirty part since I said I take showers every day!

UGAnchora 09-20-2003 10:23 AM

"But Why the Rum???"

Munchkin03 09-20-2003 10:31 AM

Yeah, I saw some guys at the bar last night going "AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" If they were trying to pick up ladies, they were sadly sadly mistaken. :p

Optimist Prime 09-20-2003 02:50 PM

my professor told me this

I thought he was just a crack head.

Optimist Prime 09-20-2003 02:54 PM

International Speak Like A Pirate Day??

hehehehehehehehehehe... maybe Decadence can back me up on this, but where I live in Bristol, England, everyday is "speak like a pirate" day!!! ;) ;)

For those not in the know, Bristol is an old English port which housed sea merchants, explorers and, yes, pirates. The infamous Blackbeard was a Bristolian. If you want to know what a Bristolian accent sounds like, think pirates. ;)

Arrright mi lubber?? <snicker>

....Kelly :)

navane 09-20-2003 04:10 PM

Awlright mi maties! 'Ere is mi pirate name!

-----

Captain Jenny Rackham

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

You have the same last pirate name as me. I'm Dread Pirate Rackham. Can I be on your pirate ship, Capn'n?

lifesaver 09-20-2003 08:48 PM

Im "Dirty Davy Rackham"

Sounds cool, huh.

I bathe often tho....

AXJules 09-20-2003 09:32 PM

Bullshit!

I have a problem with this................

Your pirate name is:

Dirty Jenny Cash

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

wreckingcrew 09-20-2003 10:12 PM

ARrrrrrrgh.

Cap'n John Kidd.

They even got the last initial right.

Prepare for me to buckle your swashes.
