Help me pick a dress!

So, I think I've narrowed it down to 2 dresses, and I'd like to get some opinions...

Dress #1:

The front

http://www.marisabridals.com/series10/509_back.jpg

The back.

I would be getting it in all ivory (ivory dress and ivory sash, unlike the blue sash shown)

Dress #2

http://www.diamondbride.com/images/d...d402_front.jpg

The front.

The back (and I would add length onto the back to make a longer train).

Let me know what you think :)

Imthachamp 09-18-2003 02:06 AM

first one

texas*princess 09-18-2003 02:10 AM

I really like the first one the way you describe it :)

Although. if it were my own wedding, I would get it with the blue.. because azure blue & white are ADPi colors, and I could have an ADPi wedding :D :p :) ;)

FiReKraCkEr 09-18-2003 02:13 AM

Dress one! It's so timeless and classy! I love it! It reminds me of Aubrey Hepburn in a way...

TriDeltaGal 09-18-2003 02:29 AM

Definitely dress number #1 all the way! It is so gorgeous I might have to steal the style from you...ah, wait I need the engagement ring first!

KillarneyRose 09-18-2003 02:48 AM

Number One. Just gorgeous!

CatStarESP4 09-18-2003 02:58 AM

I like the first one, too. It looks very simple, yet very elegant.

I definitly would go with number 1!! its beautiful :)

SSS1365 09-18-2003 06:16 AM

Another vote for #1! :)

AOIIalum 09-18-2003 07:48 AM

#1 hands down!

xok85xo 09-18-2003 08:15 AM

make this another vote for #1..its absolutely gorgeous

juniorgrrl 09-18-2003 08:17 AM

#1 was my first choice BUT #2 really does look better in person. The woman in it is so angular it makes the dress look bad. I think tha the people in the dress influence the likability of the dress. Girl #1 is soft and pretty and girl #2 is sharp and pointy

My big issue with #1 is that its SO knocked off right now. This one is a high end "interpretation" of an Amsale (i love it but can't justify 3K on a dress.. I hate that I go in David's Bridal for BM dresses and see another sash dress on the dress form.

Oh well....keep 'em coming :)

Dress one. Not question about it.
Classic lines. In 10 years, your pictures will not look dated.
:)
Silver

Which dress looks better on you? Which one is more comfortable? Which one requires less "killer undergucci's"?

That's the one I'd go with. Not only are you going to be strutting down the aisle, but you will be dancing, eating (a little, any how), talking to a lot of people, etc. Make sure that your dress works with you, not against you.

honeychile 09-18-2003 08:42 AM

I think the above post officially qualifies me to be a mother...

juniorgrrl 09-18-2003 09:32 AM

Both dresses fit roughly the same (same body lines, etc). It's really hard to tell because the samples that the store had were in a size way too tiny for me (I'm an 8/10 and these samples were a 4/6).

The first dress is made by Marisa. It's an, um, "interpretation" of an Amsale.

And as an FYI for any brides/brides-to-be out there: You can save TONS by ordering your dress online. Dress #1 was in the shop for $1800. I can get it online for just under $1200. Dress #2 retails for $1600 and I can get it for $830.

The only caveat to that is its near impossible to find a discounted Vera, Amsala, Reem, etc. Those designers just don't go on sale, unless you buy from a trunk show.

From an avid fan of theknot.com, I think think the sash dress is WAY overplayed! I definitely think it's beautiful, but I see it everywhere. And truthfully, I dig the top on #2. I love when a dress is a little different, which #2 is, but still classy.

33girl 09-18-2003 10:48 AM

I kind of like #2, because it is different...

but it depends how much you are going to put in the top of the dress. :D If you are already, ahem, amply endowed, the little foldy things are the last thing you need.

And I know exactly what you mean about something getting knocked off to the point where you don't like it anymore. For my money the only designer that has never happened to is Chanel...

DZGirl 09-18-2003 11:25 AM

I have to go with dress one.. very simple, yet classy. love it!

tunatartare 09-18-2003 11:54 AM

I would definitely go with dress #1. It is simply gorgeous. The pale blue sash might looknice and then also you would have your "something blue" right there.

Will the reception be open bar?

So random! ;)

I'd go with dress #1, I know it's "overdone" but I really think it's a gorgeous dress.

absolutuscchick 09-18-2003 12:11 PM

DRESS #1!!!!!

mu_agd 09-18-2003 12:18 PM

i'd go with #2.

lionlove 09-18-2003 12:25 PM

I like the back of dress #2 better than number 1. During the ceremony, people see more back then front.

lawryn 09-18-2003 12:44 PM

the first one its soooo pretty

annice22 09-18-2003 12:53 PM

I like dress 1 it is so classy and beautiful.

GeoffZ 09-18-2003 01:28 PM

Dress #1

Jadey28 09-18-2003 01:43 PM

dress 1

sherbertlemons 09-18-2003 02:01 PM

Dress one. :)

breathesgelatin 09-18-2003 02:05 PM

I like #1, but primarily I think because the presentation and photo are so much more impressive. #2 is nice and if were presented in a nice ad I'd probably be digging it just as much. Keep in mind thoughts of comfort etc. Also on the designer "interpretations"... it all depends on who will be at your wedding. If no one will know the difference (like at my country wedding, whenever that will be), don't worry about it. If you're inviting fashion snobs to your wedding... steer clear!

LuaBlanca 09-18-2003 03:32 PM

#1!

Peaches-n-Cream 09-18-2003 03:43 PM

Both dresses are beautiful. Pick whichever looks best on you.

From what website can you buy your dresses? Just curious. :)

bethany1982 09-18-2003 03:46 PM

I like #1.

amycat412 09-18-2003 04:03 PM

both are beautiful, but I like #1 better... so much, in fact, I may have to save this thread for a not too off in the future date... lol

There are plenty of places:

www.bridesave.com
www.houseofbrides.com
www.netbride.com

are just a few of them. They also sell formals/bridesmaids dresses.

MTSUGURL 09-18-2003 05:05 PM

I love the first one!

EtaPhiZTA 09-18-2003 05:46 PM

Number One is exquisite!

MeLikey 09-18-2003 05:47 PM

#1!!! I actually like the blue sash with it, it's different.

ztawinthropgirl 09-20-2003 05:04 PM

I was surfing along in GC and saw your wedding dress choices. I was wondering where I could find the one with the blue sash? who's it made by? I need details! :D
