ETA Hope someone rescues this.

Sistermadly 09-10-2003 02:39 AM

Sis, search this forum for 'tyoregon'. His daughter or daughters (?) are Alpha Phis.

Jill1228 09-10-2003 03:49 AM

Ok cool, it's all good, then :D

AlphaPhiBubbles 09-17-2003 02:44 AM

We got two more badges on ebay:

this one is a seeded pearl one from 1956, name is hard to read and doesn't say what chapter.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145

this one is just the gold pin, no date or chapter or name

Jill1228 09-17-2003 03:11 AM

I was just about to post this

AlphaPhiBubbles 09-30-2003 02:29 AM

Ack!! How did this GORGEOUS pin get away! I hate that this guy won't tell us who it belongs to...we should at least have a chance to get it to someone who it would have more meaning for than someone else, you know?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=11145

ETA: Found another beautiful pin just after posting this...another jeweled one but the seller says whats on the back: ET 10-15-94 although you can't tell the greek letters and the seller prob. has no clue.

Yea that is the 50 year pin...sooo pretty. There really were a LOT of Alpha Phi pins on ebay lately. Some guy was selling a pledge pin, saying it was made of brass, but I swear all the pledge pins are made of pewter (hence the extreme cheapness when we buy them from EO - usually $3.50), but am I wrong? One of our new girls has a pledge pin that looks quite a bit different than other ones...it looks more silvery/clean. Anyone know?

cutiepatootie 10-17-2003 01:50 PM

I was just out beat a few days ago on one on ebay ...it was nice...it was all pearls on the "A" but someone beat me out on it and got it for a steal too. TAHNKFULLY it was not tyoregon so i feel at least half better and hope and pray it went to a sister instead of a pin collector.

the sad thing is if someone bought that pledge pin you can request to buy one from Eo at $3.50 i believe and whoever got that pin( which i bid on when it was ow in price) paid a lot for it.

Hee hee, I'm unemployed because I moved out here without a job! How silly of me!

AlphaPhiBubbles 10-19-2003 08:17 PM

*extreme gasp*

I LOVE THAT WHITE GOLD PIN. Omg can you get those specially made from masters of design? Cuz I am definatley asking for that as a grad present. How strange that someone would want to sell that rare and gorgeous pin!!!!

Sistermadly 10-19-2003 08:21 PM

Bubbles,

Yep, you can order the white pin from EO. Just specify that you want white gold when you place your order.

I want a white gold one myself.

Maharet 10-19-2003 09:02 PM

The plain white gold pin is about $10 more than the yellow gold...The white gold pin looks especially beautiful with all diamonds...$235 there abouts...very beautiful indeed! It taeks a bit longer to get if it isn't in-stock - they have to make it from scratch...worth the wait though.

Another pretty pin is the one my mom got when whe was initiated - yellow gold with alternating pearls and diamonds...Classic looking!

You're right - fancy pins would make a GREAT grad gift from family members...Good luck!

bruinaphi 10-23-2003 02:53 PM

woohooo -- we beat tyoregon!

Guess who is the proud winner of the fifty year pin on ebay? Aphigal and I out bid tyoregon!

I want that badge someday. But Maharet and I have very pretty ones now. ;)

Maharet 10-26-2003 05:28 PM

badge on ebay

Yes, Yes, we certainly do!!! ;)

AOE Always!

AND my white gold diamond pin looks great on a thin black leather cord...the leather fits snuggly enough in the pin (not piercing it, just attached like you would on a shirt...) to make it hang just right on the neckline. Really any pin could do the same on any small leather cord...Kinda a cool way to wear it...

I did wear my regional pin on a black evening bag and it looked gorgeous!!!

cutiepatootie 10-26-2003 09:53 PM

YEAH LAURA! i am soo proud of you two for beating him....tell me it felt good didn't it? heheheheheh

laura 2 :)

TechAPhi 10-26-2003 10:53 PM

On the subject of 50-year pins. I didn't realize, til I saw it in the Quarterly that it was meant to go around the official badge.

I learned this at our Founders Day.We had two 50 year members presented this year with pins. They were the cutest and nicest ladies.

TechAPhi 10-27-2003 11:42 PM

Another 50-year...

Someone rescue it!

Another pretty 50-year pin on Ebay

So far I've rescued two 50-years and four regular pins.

bruinaphi 10-28-2003 01:38 PM

This is the same seller I bought from last time. I asked her to sell it to me without going through ebay and she said she would for $70. I was like, a new one is $30 and while they are important, I am not spending $150 plus on 50 year pins this week.

I encourage you not to bid right now if you are interested. Wait, keep the price low and then bid at the last minute. Tyoregon is not usually a last minute bidder, so if you wait you can usually out bid him unless he really wants a badge and he's put his max bid really high.

LD

AlphaPhiBubbles 10-28-2003 03:20 PM

how many badges do you think tyoregon has so far? must be a nice collection.

bruinaphi 10-28-2003 04:23 PM

tyoregon's daughter has a substantially sized collection of badges. they are beautiful and someday they will revert to a phi.

i just got my 50 year pin that i won in the mail. it is very cool. it is not the same size as the current 50 year pin and i don't think there is any way a regular badge would fit inside. the woman selling the second one says that it is identical.

Aphigal 10-28-2003 11:01 PM

Just so you know the current high bidder is an Alpha Phi. She is the AMC in the NE region.

cutiepatootie 10-29-2003 12:08 AM

the 50 yr pin is normally $30.00? wow forget ebay i rather buy mine new. Though the point is to win it and keep it "in the family"

yeah $70 is a little extreme for what it really goes for.
