Favorite ADPI Song
 

What is your favorite ADPi song? This can be either a song unique to your chapter, or a traditional international song.

My favorite Zeta Omega song is "Now and Forever"

My favorite international song is "I Love the Pin".... and "Little ADPi" when sung in rounds.

I like Little ADPi as well. I also like Grandma was an ADPi.

I commuted my freshman year, and my parents got sick to death of me singing "Grandma was an ADPi" during rush!!

I find myself singing, "Boom Boom" and "I want you to know" around the house at times.

On a related note, I have never been able to sing the Blessing correctly. My pledge mother told us that the tune was "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" and it just stuck...

OMG, Honeychile, that is soooo funny! (My chapter never sang the blessing; which now as an alum who advised a chapter that always sang it, I find odd--- b/c my chapter had a ton of pageant girls and theater/choral girls!)

I know it's more of a cheer, but I love Pi Pi ADPi...it always gets stuck in my head and then I sing it all the time. I also love Grandma was an ADPi (since I FINALLY learned it!) and I Love the Pin.

I also love our rose ceremony song (candle pass more recently). I always want to sing it again and again, because the times between use for the song can stretch out, and you tend to forget the words! We always sang the blessing when we got together (with food), so that's also a personal fave! :)

I wish we sang the blessing, but since we very few times sit down to really all eat together except impromptly in the union...Really the only women in our chapter that know it are those who have gone to convention...As for my favorite...I dont know...I do though find myself singing lots of songs in the shower...like little adpi, white shinning stars, and sacred bonds...

My favorite is Little ADPi!!! We sang that this year for recruitment and our chapter did a wonderful job of all the harmonizing :)

I also like 'It's True It's Blue' & "Boom Boom" :)

I love White Shining Star. I just learned it this year and am always singing it.

We rarely sang the Blessing, either - which explains why we didn't know the correct tune!

I actually hesitated on posting that, because once you compare the two, it's really hard to sing The Blessing properly!!

I find myself singing ADPi songs all the time! I know that there are a TON of songs that I don't know and I wish I did.

My fave though, is "It Only Takes A Spark"

It only takes a spark is actually called Pass It On...just thought I would be informative...

I've never heard of "It's True It's Blue"! How does it go?

"It's True It's Blue" is more of a chant than a song, but it has been stuck in my head since I went through COR!

Here's how it goes:

What really made me like it more was this year's Bid Day.. all the women who had been matched to a sorority were in groups and the Rho Gammas taught them a chant to that particular sorority. On Bid Day our new Alphas were singing It's True It's Blue with the Deltas when we were exiting the colluseium, and on the part where we normally yell "DELTA!" they yelled "ALPHA!"

hehehe.. it was just the cutest thing ever :)

Thats cute I've never heard that before thanks for sharing! Any chance you can give us a tune...kinda hard to sing to it without one.

I would definately love to give the 'tune'... does anyone have any good ideas on how to do that? I'm not very musically inclined, so I can't just name notes! If someone has an idea on how I could do that I would really love to share it so other chapters could use it :)

Lets see my favorite has to be the adpi round. The girls sung it for me at pref night.
I also love Pass it On and Boom Boom. Although, after spending all day a couple of years ago singing Boom Boom I was about ready to kill myself. LOL. (I just couldn't clap, bounce and smile any longer).

Oh, my, gosh!

One of the people I interviewed last week said, "Bye bye!" and the minute the door shut, I sang the whole thing! Everyone else in the office was just stunned!

reading this thread makes me really wish that I knew more songs... I learned "Pass It On" and "Linger" in a rush before pref tonight, and I know maybe 2 others besides those... :(

I didn't learn Linger until this year's convention and I LOVE it.

There are song books for ADPi you can purchase. Also, you can invite your alum for a sing-along night where they can come in and teach you songs. You can also make up songs--- take up some favorite contemporary songs and encourage the prides to turn them into ADPi songs that you can use for candlelightings, prefs, etc. :)

One of my favorite "chapter" songs is "Now and Forever" by Carol King (the only words we needed to change were "I" to "We" in the chorus)-- we sing it at all the time, and it is a real tear jerker at prefs:

I absolutely love that song! It really fits too -- I never thought of that!

Just curious..did anyone get the CD that was put out??

My chapter has a copy of the cd...It has been somewhat helpful in getting the tunes...but they do sing a little too harmonized for my chapter...

they got our music chair a copy of the cd at districts last year, and she made me a copy so i wouldn't be so left out when they were all singing... it has helped me so much!

it also taught our chapter how much we've been massacreing 'I Love the Pin.' we're working on that....
