When you buy a cute stuffed animal wearing a cute little shirt saying I Love (insert your letters) and you show it to your sisters at a general meeting and one observes how much you love your sorority. Also, if you are the first to get some item (i.e a lavalier) with your letters and a sister asks where you bought it. Also, if you see a blank t-shirt of any color in a store and think how nicer it would look with your letters on it.

You spend your month's wages on letters and paraphenalia.
(This was back in college. I earned slightly more than minimum wage.)

You get a new email address for your sorority only.

You visit or live with other chapters in order to extend your Greek experience.

..you sing your sorority songs to your infant sons, or your fraternity songs to your infant daughters.

...you incorporate your GLO into your wedding.

...you give your heart and soul to doing the very best job possible when asked by your GLO (including leaving your family for two solid weeks to get the chapter house ready for move-in!)

...you wear sewn-letter shirts at an, ahem, advanced age

...or while you're pregnant! :)

*You carefully stamp gold fleur de lis on your bathroom walls.

*Your formal living room decor is full of fleur de lis finials and key throw pillows.

You not only have a Gamma Phi Beta license plate frame on your car, but you have the GFB (symbols) sticker and the "Gamma Phi Beta" (lengthwise words) sticker on your car, a pink carnation in the vase, and a lamb (or other chapter mascot) in your back window...

You wear letters to reunion-type events from high school just because you want everyone to ask about your affiliation so you can talk about it forever...

You plan out where you're going to move to next just to be sure there's an alumnae or collegiate chapter in the area. And, even better, if there isn't, you go nuts trying to start one!

I'm looking forward to doing this.

you attend 2 different chapters formal recruitments within a week, 2 nights each, 1.5 hours from where you live. (and 3 hours from each other).
you are vice president of the House Corporation Board at one chapter and are recruitment advisor at another...3 hours apart.
you have underwear in your sorority's colours (this is a hard feat given my sorority's colours)
you have 2 sorority related pillowcases (different) on your bed.
and the list goes on....
geez- i think i need a life!! lol.
i would do anything for my sisters!!

Also--...when you buy your two dogs bandannas with "A DZ loves me" on them. (That's what my dogs are getting for Christmas! ;) )

Most of my chapter has an SDT only mail...it's easier!!! I know a ton of ppl that have one!

* Your mother comes into your room and asks if you own anything that doesn't have Greek Letters on it
* You get nostalgic/weepy eyed when you see people wearing clothes in your sorority's colors
* You buy a box of tissues simply because it has your sorority's flower on the box (guilty!)
* You can start just about any sentence with "that happened to one of my sisters...."
* When people ask you where you're from you're inclined to say your sorority's name rather than where you actually live

When you get back from Convention and you start saving money so you can attend next year's

When you get back from Convention and the only thing you can think about is not having enough money because you saw so many things you wanted to buy.

When you met so many of your sisters at Convention and you get so sad the last day because you have to go back home.

I got you all beat...

You really don't like children and your husband has been "fixed" -- but you start researching REVERSAL PROCEDURES just because you want to have a little A Phi legacy of your own.

You own more items with letters now (as an alum) than you did as a collegian.

You spent two years of your life living, breathing, eating, sleeping Gamma Phi forming an alumnae chapter.
You're the Treasurer of the House Corp Board, Scholarship Advisor, Chair of a Task Force and a member of the Nominating Committee and you still don't think you're doing enough.

You can't seem to get "I'd love to help" out of your vocabulary.

This is one of my faves :)

Also, hearing a collegiate member say thank you for helping them through a problem and helping them see the lifetime aspect of sisterhood.

Another good one I forgot............

"If no one else will volunteer, I'll do it" and somehow I actually got elected at convention............

~you become a recruitment counselor and have to buy new clothes because everything you own has your letters on it somewhere . . .

~one of the first things you say upon meeting someone new is "oh you went to xyz university? i'ver heard of that school, my sorority has/had a chapter there. . ."

.....when making someone believe you...instead of saying " I swear on my life" you say " I swear on my letters" and THAT my friends is all they need to hear. :D

When you have never missed a sorority meeting in the two years since you joined - even when you had mono.

When you forget to explain to people that your sisters who look nothing like you aren't your blood relatives.

When sisters fart on/near you and you still talk to them the next day. :eek:

You want to have 4 daughters someday and they all must join your sorority or ELSE, and if you have any sons they have to join your grandpa's/dad's/brother's/husband's fraternity.

When you are extremely hesitant to wear any other necklace, because you never take off your sorority lavalier except when swimming in the lake on retreats (if it falls off in a pool you can always retrieve it). :rolleyes: ...

When you only have two t-shirts that don't have your letters on them somewhere- one of them has your college logo, and the other has Strawberry Shortcake on it...

When you start planning what your house will be like someday, and if your future husband doesn't like a kitchen full of strawberries, a living room with white violets, a turquoise bathroom, and a baby nursery covered in bunnies and princess stuff - TOO BAD. :p

or you wear your "get lucky with an AGD" Crush Party shirt when you are VERY pregnant!

I thought of another one: You miss rush so much, that you volunteer to help at a school where they don't even have your chapter! I'll start helping next week! YEAH!

...you send good luck cards to your sisters who are in the Miss America pageant whom you will never meet.

...you knit scarves for your Grandlittle that are rose & white striped.

...you make SURE you wear letters when travelling, so that sisters will recognize you in the airport.

...you take a 20 mile detour on a cross-country road trip to visit the nearest chapter house.

and the best....you would beg, steal, kill, bribe the director and crawl over broken glass to audition for a production of Steel Magnolias so that you can play Shelby and REALLY know the reason that she likes pink silk bunting. ;-)

you bid on the badges on ebay OR you notify headquarters of the repeat sellers (yes I'm a dork)

you look at grad schools only if they have an AGD chapter there

you run over a squirrel with your car then go back and bury it (* I was younger and forgot about rabies and it only happened once! I got eewww's from other people about that one *)

you love someone you've never met because they are your SISTER!

when you find out a sister's AIM nickname you immediately add it to your buddy list whether you know her or not because you enjoy chatting with your sisters :)
