Are your greek letters on your car??

OK, this is a lame thread, I admit it, but I am SOOOO excited that KD is now on my car (I just put my license plate frame up on it!!) and I was wonering if everyone else has their letters on their car too!!!

DZHBrown 09-05-2003 05:20 PM

Yes, I do :) Now that I'm an alumna, I'd really like to have a cool DZ Alumna license plate. (I just have my letters right now) Anyone know where I can find that?

Kristin AGD 09-05-2003 05:21 PM

Absolutely!! :D

On every car I have had since 1995.

KillarneyRose 09-05-2003 05:22 PM

Yep, I sure do! I have a license plate and a DZ window sticker. In fact, my husband refuses to drive my car unless absolutely necessary.

Heather; have you tried DZ DeZigns?

wreckingcrew 09-05-2003 05:28 PM

Yeah, i've got my Sigma Nu window sticker and license plate holder on my truck.

Once, long long ago i saw a Sigma Nu trailer hitch cover on ebay, but i was too poor at the time to bid on it. If i ever see one again, i'm all over it.

As a pledge I won an eBay auction for an AGD License Plate holder and it's been holding the plates up ever since!

I also have a decal...right next to my Hinano Tahiti Beer sticker on my back window.

FAB*SpiceySpice 09-05-2003 05:30 PM

I do! I had this adorable sticker that said I love Phi Mu, but it was a heart and the greek letters. Someone ripped half of it off my car though  so I now just have the plain white oval one with the black letters. So boring, but on my blazer, like all others, all the back windows are completely blacked out so I can't have a cute one. :(

GeekyPenguin 09-05-2003 05:52 PM

Sure do! I've got a crest in the back left window, and a long spelled out sticker underneath my school sticker.

MereMere21 09-05-2003 05:58 PM

I have the license plate cover, the sticker on the lower right side, and an AGD air freshner one of my sisters made :D

smiley21 09-05-2003 06:03 PM

I have a tiny little sticker on the driver's side of the car. Once I get my new(er) car, I plan to get a license plate frame and a bigger sticker. I love seeing letters on people's cars -- it's fun!

BSP_Nicole 09-05-2003 06:37 PM

I have an alumni sticker from my college, an APO crest sticker, and a Beta Sigma Phi sticker... I just haven't put them on my car yet because I *hope* to get a new (to me) car sometime soon.

My husband has an APO license plate holder on his car.

Jadey28 09-05-2003 06:41 PM

I have a Phi Sigma Sigma license plate cover on my car! It matches the color of my car perfectly. :D

astroAPhi 09-05-2003 07:03 PM

I have a long window decal as well as a license plate cover.

I believe they were talking about these license plates in the AKA forum, and you have to get a petition signed with X amount of members from your state that want these license plates, or else the state won't make them. I would contact your DMV to find out what that number is, then start contacting DZ alumnae chapters (and collegiate if you just want it to have a DZ logo rather than be an alumnae plate). Good luck!

etahannah 09-05-2003 08:00 PM

i do!! i remember when i first joined, that is all i wanted!! just to have my letters on my car so everyone could see that i was a little DG!!

***dances a car dance***

recentASAalum 09-05-2003 09:29 PM

everyone laughs cuz I drive a 94 white dodge caravan... it's the first time that a car has really been "mine"... my parents are letting me use it for the duration of college since they don't need it at home anymore.... and the first thing I did when they said I could take it to college was put my ASA car sticker up... everyone laughs to see my van and my ASA sticker (and I think it embarrasses some people)... but I'm so very proud of it...

I was actually referring to the front license plate, but I would LOVE to get a Tennessee state plate with DZ on it. I've seen an AKA and a Delta Sigma Theta plate and thought that was really cool. Doesn't Phi Mu have Maryland plates? Maybe I should start this project :) Thanks!

I have that too! Plus letters on my back window!

TriDeltaGal 09-05-2003 10:10 PM

Yay! I'm so glad to read that so many alumni members still have letters on their cars! When I got my new car, I added a small "delta delta delta" (only about 4 inches long) sticker on my back window. But, I feel that the general perception here is that after you graduate you take your greek letters off of your car. I really didn't want to just yet (or ever) and knowing that all of you still have them proudly blazing on your cars, make me feel better!

DeltAlum 09-05-2003 10:18 PM

They were until I bought a new car. Have to get a license plate frame, or some new decals.

polarpi 09-05-2003 10:28 PM

Yep...got the lovely white oval with black letters stick on the (hardtop) window, to match the stick I have just like that with the first letter of my hometown (how corny and committed to home can I be???) ;)

LeslieAGD 09-05-2003 10:38 PM

My Alpha Gamma Delta sticker has been on my car for years. The only time it's been down was when I was a Rho Chi.

Tom Earp 09-05-2003 10:45 PM

State of Kansas License Plate------LXA 1

Front and back!:) LXA frame too!

Every rat or soror needs to represent their org with great pride. My car wears Zeta Phi Beta with honor.

AmeeLynn 09-06-2003 03:50 AM

of course of course of course, I just got my new car and the first thing I did was take off that licenses plate cover, and put my wonderful greek letters up, oh plus I have a sticker in my back window. My dad was a little made because he thought I was ruining my car, but he will just have to deal with that, because there is no way I will ever take my letters down (well until I sell the car).

Jill1228 09-06-2003 11:29 AM

Yup me too...wanna wait till initiation to put one on with a crest.

I also have to get a licence plate holder

Do you have a Sigma Nu gunrack?

carnation 09-06-2003 12:45 PM

You better believe that I have a Pi Phi Alum sticker on the back of the van! And looking out at ASLFRose's new car (she's here for the weekend)--there are gold AOII letters on the back windshield!

I have a Pi Phi front license plate but my van doesn't have the screws and holes in front to hold one. Does anyone know how I can get that changed?

DeltAlum 09-06-2003 02:53 PM

Hey Carnation,

I'll bet you (and JAM and Earp among others) remember the days when a Greek "couple" were "pinned" and had both sets of letters in the back window. Sometimes on either side of a university logo decal or something. Assuming they did that in places other than Ohio.

Might be:

DTD letters// O.U. logo//Pi Phi letters

Of course, if you broke up, it made your rear window look lopsided.

TriDeltaGal 09-06-2003 03:03 PM

Hey Carnation,
Where did you get a alum sticker? I would love to get something like that and I have never seen those before.

Actually it's not that hard to do... if you look very closely at the front bumper you should see two or four small dimples molded on the bumper itself - they're the locating points for a front license plate holder. Best bet is to go to your local dealer for whatever make your car is, go to the parts department and order a "front license plate bracket for a (year/make of your car or van)" Shouldn't cost very much (mine was about $20 for a '97 Ford Thunderbird) and includes all the mounting hardware and license plate screws. It's something not usually kept in stock, so you may hafta wait a day or two for them to order it.

My older '95 Thunderbird had the Alpha Sigma Phi coat of arms on the back window; my current T-bird has emblems denoting my membership in several Masonic bodies (Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Shrine), and I also have a license plate frame for Alpha Sigma Phi.

carnation 09-06-2003 06:02 PM

DeltAlum,

I DO remember the double Greek decals on pinned couples' back windshields! Don't they do that anymore? And the breakups with the lopsided look--LOL!!!!

TriDeltaGal, I got my alum sticker from Pi Phi Nationals--seems like it came in an appeal for funds.

AlphaSigOU, thank you!!! I knew it had to be pretty simple!

Rudey 09-06-2003 06:10 PM

Screw the license plate holders, my bling blinging H2 Hummer has my letters and a beautiful pictures of me painted all over it.

--And I have those spinner rims just as an added touch.

Not a problem... Here in Texas, you're issued both a front and back license plate which must be displayed at all times. Having moved from Oklahoma (which only issues a rear license plate), I didn't want some local gendarme bagging me for not displaying a front license plate (a $25.00 'fix-it' ticket).

BTW, DO NOT attach the front license plate holder to any other place in the front bumper other than those designated holes - lest you want to accidentally activate your airbag system!

I don't think most chapters get pinned anymore. Lavaliering seems to be the big thing.

I haven't seen a car with fraternity and sorority letters in a long time.

Any of you undergrads or recent alums do those things anymore?

DZHBrown 09-06-2003 08:57 PM

One of my sisters is married to a TKE and she has both of their letters on her car.
