"Playmakers" on ESPN
OK, OK,.....I'll admit it...I'm STARVED for episodic TV!! (I need Soul Food back pronto!)
Has anyone checked out Playmakers on ESPN? I've watched the first three episodes. It definitely has an "Any Given Sunday" feel and I was grossed out at the lengths one player went to to beat the drug test. Anyway, guys and girls...weigh in if you're watching. http://espn.go.com/eoe/playmakers/index.html |
I watched with my boyfriend. I guess I kind of liked the show. Oh no he's rubbing off on me.
|
I saw one episode so far and I love it!

Sports talk guys
Here in LoCal were ripping on the show. They even suggested that real NFL players should boycott ESPN and that the league should fine the network for "conduct detrimental to the league" by running the show. Oh please.
It's entertainment, and if you don't like it, turn off your station (in my worst Mike Tyson voice). ;) |
I like the show. That was crazy what he had to go through just to pass his drug test. I don't understand why the NFL is making a big deal out of it. It's just TV. They even have a disclaimer that they show at the begining of wach episode.

This the ONLY time I'll willingly watch ESPN
|
Sounds like something I need to check out.
Does it only come on on Wednesdays? What time, EST please? :D |
I saw the show and I liked it. It is entertainment and though it is a little bit on the graphic side while depicting the most popular sport for now, it is not worse than the violent mess that comes on other stations or the sexy mess that comes on during the middle of the day for everyone to see. Besides, I saw multiple naked little man buns . . . and that just added to the show's entertainment value. http://www.superbabies.homestead.com/files/naughty.gif

I like the show. It's cool. It gives me a behind-the-scenes look into the "NFL." Not to mention I get to look at some men.... :D

The NFL needs to stop being so "sensitive". I mean its "fiction", right? ....Me thinks they doth protest too much! This is a little too much reality for them! |

When they showed Omar Gooding's bootay...WOOOOHOOOOW!!!! I just hope it wasn't a body double..if so, oh well....I'm still lookin'! LOL! I like this show. I liked "Any Given Sunday", so I knew this was gonna be a winner. But I wonder about the subject matters for later on in the season  ...I mean, they already talked about serious injuries and drug use....those are biggies. |
Question?
During the first episode there is a scene during breakfast where three men sing while wearing only their jock straps. Did anyone else notice that the middle man throws up the sign for Omega Psi Phi? I thought I was seeing things so I played it back in slow motion. This is another example of people copying Steve McNair when they shouldn't.
If anyone else, did catch this what did you think? |

Anybody who is not hip to watching football, do it please. Watching football is like watching a big giant fit men catalog. They even show the faces of the boys in between plays so that you can see the mug that goes with the body. Oh boy, I love football. |

I watched it last night. My my my . . . .
Omar Gooding with braids -- not too shabby atall . . .muscles and stuh :o I really enjoyed the show and cannot wait to see next week as well as watch the first 2 eps. Oh and old boy who hurt his wife. . . he would have been next morning's breakfast. |
Good show. My husband and I have been watching it. I keep trippin' though that this show is a fairly real portrayal. I can't believe that these athletes are getting away with all the drug use and stuh.
|
I like the show as well, my husband turned me on to it. But what I want to know is why in the he** is Omar Gooding body double twice as black as he. Come on can we get a double who is somewhat his color. Thats like Will Smith being the body double for Joe Montana. The show is good, I need something to watch since "Making The Band" going off. :(

Tonight's episode --
|
Okay ALOT was going on!! I wanna beat down that reporter Samantha. She needs to take it to the school yard with her and whoop her a** now! I was glad the bald guy with the father problems got him a woman.

Leon and Robin: Its a shame that they have to be forced to deal with his spousal abuse problem in the media, especially since they both don't want to but have taken steps to address the issue privately. I can't figure out why he was being arrested for it in the next episode, How about that Stoned Cold Hype DH....do you see him stealing the sick kids meds next week?! Its time to suspend his azz! And lets not forget the player in the closet....he may be outed next week. They need to get back to Coach George's medical problem. It looks like they will address it next week. All in all....I'm enjoying this series |
Guest Appearance
On October 28, Snoop Dogg will appear in ESPN's original television series "Playmakers." The network's first dramatic series chronicles the adventures of a fictional professional football team both on and off the field. Executives plan to reprise the role if the program is renewed for another season.
Who is Snoop going to play? He's far too scrawny to play a football player. :o |
