fun new thing I tried today

okay, I was thinking this could be a thread we use to let each other know about all the cool stuff we're trying for the first time. Maybe it can help us all get out of the rut of doing the same thing all the time.

Today I:

walked to work
gave my dog a pup-peroni treat (just to be nice) which she loved
bought a
grapefruit flavored vodka made by Danzka.

anyone else?

Imthachamp 09-02-2003 12:31 PM

awesome! i'll try that "walking" thing you just mentioned.

honeychile 09-02-2003 03:32 PM

I'll bite!! I actually started this two weeks ago, but I decided to let my bangs grow out. This is a HUGE step for me!!

I also started bringing my own ice tea to work, since no one around here seems to know how to make it!

Jaggergirl 09-02-2003 04:40 PM

honeychile, you must be a Southerner. I've never met a people more obsessed with their ice tea!

I'm hoping this walking to work bit will result in me shedding a few pounds. Maybe I'll even buy ankle weights.

Mentioned the Danzka grapefruit vodka to a friend of mine and we already have a cocktail recipes planned to try out. I'm very excited!

I restarted biking to work. healthier and I save money on petrol.

It was only my 2nd day at my internship today... decided to take the subway for the 1st time there... took the wrong train... I wasn't completely off base but I ended up walking a ways.

Hootie 09-02-2003 09:17 PM

I went to class...LOL! Okay I know what you're thinking, of course you should go to class. HOWEVER I didn't have a break at all this summer and I was VERY tempted to skip out early today cuz I was struggling to stay awake. So a first for me...resisting the temptation to skip :)

It's funny you should say that, I'm from up north and recently moved to the south. I was so excited because no one where I'm originally from is as obsessed (except maybe Ali) with iced tea as I am. It's nice to finally be among people who share my views on the beverage.

Yeah, walking to and from places is cool and healthy! When I used to live in New York, I would walk from home to appointments, meetings, subways, restaurants and shops. I took the subway if it was necessary.

Now that I live in Arizona, I don't have that option and with the heat. I am looking into conducive options.

oh I know, I moved from PHX to outside of Atlanta. I am trying to get used to this walking thing. It sucks.

Have you tried Charbay grapefruit vodka? Pricey, but delicious.

Munchkin03 09-03-2003 07:22 PM

I love iced tea. Love it love it love it. Mama Munchkin always makes a pitcher just for me when I come home!

I can't seem to find a decent glass in this city, though.

bethany1982 09-03-2003 07:27 PM

I tried octopus today. It sounds bad, but it was really good!

Munchkin03 09-04-2003 01:11 AM

I love octopus.

I tried Sam Adams for the first time today. Don't act all surprised---I don't normally drink domestic brews, so this was a milestone.

MTSUGURL 09-04-2003 01:47 AM

I made bean bags for my preschool class.

i used to just read the summary and highlight imporant info.

:D that is WAY new for me

Jaggergirl 09-05-2003 02:37 PM

steeltrap actually a friend of mine tried it and says it was pretty tart. what I like about the Danzka vodka is that the grapefruit flavor counteracts with the vodka flavor, so its really smooth. And it is badass with tonic and a lime!

Jadey28 09-05-2003 02:41 PM

I tried a new workout video today (The Firm CardioSculpt). What a long and fun workout! I actually felt the lactic acid buildup by the end of the tape! That never happens to me. Anyway, I think I have fallen in love again...this time with a workout video! :p

Charbay Grapefruit is very tart -- my favorite is actually the Key Lime. They're distilled with pure fruit, BTW. That's accurate, and I tend to mix my grapefruit with cranberry or other mediums, even grapefruit juice if I can find it. I've never seen the Danzka, but I will check my package stores.

Jaggergirl 09-09-2003 05:36 PM

awesome! Let me know if you like it. My friend said she had Danzka a lot when she as studying abroad. Apparently its already popular in Europe.

swissmiss04 09-09-2003 07:02 PM

I learned to drive a stick shift last night! I know that seems like nothing for some of y'all, but this was my first time and I drove about 10 miles before calling it quits. :)

trideltgirl 09-12-2003 01:22 PM

my friends at Columbia always go out in the city, and they always try to keep me updated with what's new and happening in the big apple. anyway, that's how i heard of grapefruit danzka... it's pretty much all they drink now. except i think that they mix it with cranberry, as opposed to tonic & lime.
i haven't seen it down here yet, but i will keep my eye out for it. apparently its not hard to miss b/c it comes in a big silver aluminum bottle.
