Will "The Kiss" help or harm Madonna's and Britney's popularity?
 

IMO I don't even think this topic is up for debate for several reasons, but some people I know disagree.

I don't think it will change either way.

It won't make a difference. I, for one, don't think it's a big deal. They're not the first two girls kissing each other to call attention to themselves and they won't be the last.

I don't think it'll hurt either career. In my opinion Madonna has already made a lasting career and people have come to expect things like this from here. As for Brittany, well I think he career is on the outs and and her popularity as a singer is dwingling. Her fan base is growing up and aren't interested in her anymore. Brittany is just trying to get some attention.

Who cares is what I think. I don't think it changes Brittany's appearance but I would say I'm sorta shocked by Madonna's role ONLY BECAUSE of her recent connection with her faith and "maturity". It's sorta like she'd become less sexual and more adult. Normally I wouldn't be surprised by her role but like I said, it's just sorta interesting considering how she's 'grown'.

britney schmitney......she'd go around kissing every girl she could if it would make her look more skanky. that's what she does.....that's all she does. she's skanky, can't sing, can't act.......she can dance, albeit like a stripper, but ya know. :rolleyes: she's on the out.....and thank god.

she's hot, and that's all that matters.

I don't think it will do anything to their careers. Britney always does something to get inthe news every year at the VMA's.

As much as I love and respect Madonna as an entertainer, she will do whatever she can to get attention. She's pretty much a phony. I see the same thing with Miss Spears, but she doesn't have the talent or business savvy to pull off what Ms. Ciccione has done for the past twenty years.

I think both of them are at the end of their rope creatively and/or talent wise and this is just a last desperate gasp for attention. It may get a lot of people talking, but I highly doubt it'll sell any albums.

It will go the way of most publicity stunts. Instant headlines and then rapidly diminish.

Soon, it will be, "What kiss?"

Apparently, Miss Spears is trying very hard to hold on the the fifteen-minute-fame of that kiss. It was reported on the radio this morning that she is trying to appear more risque and intriguing by suddenly hanging out with Jenna Jamison. Appartently her "people" are spreading around rumors that she's bi-curious. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Ugh, she just sinks lower and lower. However, if she's hanging out with porn starts, she's close to hitting bottom.

I don't think it will help either career. It might do some damage, but more than likely it won't do anything. Just makes Britney look a little trashier than she did the day before and Madonna look like she's reverting back to her old ways.

For Madonna, I have no idea. It probably won't do anything.

For Britney, I seriously doubt it'll change anything. Yeah, it made a bunch of horny guys even hotter for her than they already were, but it's certainly not going to make them start liking her music. In fact, maybe she'll lose her biggest fan base... pre-teen girls... because their parents will forbid them to listen to her. My mom wouldn't let me listen to Janet Jackson when I was a kid because of her image, so I can see that happening. But it probably won't hurt or help. All she's doing is making herself look like a slut, and if she has any decency, she will regret it in later years.

UKDaisy, I heard it on my morning radio station, Q95.5 ( http://channel955.com/main.html ). Their celebrity info on the webpage hasn't been updated since the VMAs, but it's extremely accurate. They almost never report false news, and when they report rumors they make it clear that it's rumored.

I don't think it will hurt Britney. She's already out of the teen scene. A lot of teenagers still listen to her, but she was done with that part of her life anyways. For Madonna, she probably loved it. I think it probably helped Madonna's music.

Madonna has always do things that borders on outrageousness. What she did was nothing. As for Brittany, she needs to do a complete overhaul on her career if she wants to remain in the spotlight.

I think the whole spectacle was ridiculous. To me it just seemed like three singers who are trying to grab onto that last bit of fame before showing up on a "Where Are They Now?" episode. I really felt bad for all three of them. Their careers have sunk down to this level. They're running out of good songs and fame, so all they have going for them is that they're good at acting like cheap hoes. And MTV clearly had it as their opening act to try and distract people from the fact that the show sucked. Wasn't enough to distract me, unfortunately. I was disgusted with everything this show has become.

The Jenna/Brittney thing has been going around for a while. I think it's a publicity stunt - not only on Brittney's end, but on Jenna's. I saw a harrowing E! documentary on Jenna, and she really wants to break into the mainstream. But no one will give the poor girl a chance. I'm sure the guys will atest that she's talented :rolleyes: , but Brittney could sure help her out.

There was just something creepy about the kiss. Madonna making out with a little girl....but not yet a woman.

It won't do anything to either of their careers. It's old news now. At first I was shocked at the kiss, but when I saw it the 2nd time, my mom was like that's no big deal, and I thought the same thing, for some reason it looked longer to me the 1st time I saw it, the 2nd time it seemed so short.

Christina and Madonna DID kiss . . . they just didn't show that one as much as they've been showing the Britney/Madonna kiss.

All the prime-time entertainment shows (Extra, Access Hollywood, ET) are talking about Britney's Rolling Stones cover and the article in which she "spills" about exs Durst and Timberlake. In one quote Britney said of Justin's Cry Me A River video: "It just seemed like a desperate attempt, personally." Umm, Britney...? What do you call your VMA Kiss and half-naked RS pics if not a "desperate attempt" to plug/hype your new album?!? :rolleyes:

Actually, I was reporting what was said on the show. And the last sentence, though laced with my opinion, is in truth. Do I think she's hypocritical, yes...but that doesn't mean I have "issues" with her.
