From the national web site....

Alpha Xi Delta On the Grow

This fall, Alpha Xi Delta will colonize our newest chapter at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, and will recolonize our Beta Nu Chapter at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. To help make these colonizations successful, the Fraternity is looking for members to serve on each chapter's advisory and corporation boards. If you'd like to be considered for a position, or would like to assist with colonization activities, please contact Headquarters.

-------------------

I'm glad to see that we'll be going back to Culver-Stockton this fall. There are several Beta Nu alums in my association and I know that they'll be very happy..

Just wondering Nibbz, but are you the type of person who goes to someone's house for a dinner party and then complains about everything from the food to the host's taste in furniture to the brand of toilet tissue in the powder room?

That's the level of manners you are displaying by barging into the Alpha Xi Delta forum and posting what you did.

You might want to consider deleting this post because anyone who reads it who knows your GLO affiliation might get the idea that all Tri Sigmas are rude and I know that's not true.

Well said Killarneyrose! Thanks for being the one to say it!

Alpha Chapter

HI Ladies,
first of all, I think your badge is one of the most lovely out there, I was a panhel delegate and I thumbed through all the pictures of the badges and the quill is just exquisite (I'm partial to my arrow as well ;) )
I know some of you have seen my posts on the Phi Mu threads, but I just wanted to open it up for all the AXD ladies...
I am from Knox College and Knox is considering a 3rd sorority...you know what that means....possible Alpha chapter re-establishment :)
As I stated on the PM thread, I would LOVE to see a chapter come to our campus with a history already established. That would mean reviving AXD, Phi Mu, or Delta Zeta. Knox's incoming 1st year class is the largest in over 25 years which bodes well for increasing interest in the women's greek system, and with both Tri Delta and PiPhi having a quota of only 50 a piece, spaces are going to become rapidly more difficult to find.
I would urge you to contact Knox, especialy if you have personal connections to your nationals, and argue AXDs case for coming back to campus. Out of the three dormant sororities on campus, Phi Mu and AXD were around the longest, DZ not having survived as long.
Please note, bringing a 3rd chapter on campus will probably not occur for 3-4 years as DDD and PBP must maintain constant/high retention numbers with the new quota (it was previously 55).
Thanks for listenin'!
Greek Love,
Maggie

WCUgirl 07-12-2004 02:13 PM

Lol, it doesn't matter if it's 3 years or 30....if you put "Knox College" and "expansion" in the same sentence, our ears perk up!

I'm sure the ladies at Headquarters have a much better understanding of the situation than I would, and they would probably have already spoken w/ the proper contacts before I would ever hear about it! I just got excited and wanted to share my excitement w/ everyone else. :D

Please keep us updated...of course expansion is always good and there are 24 wonderful groups for your campus to choose from. Thanks for the info!

piphimaggie 07-12-2004 02:24 PM

I'm so glad you did, I should have realized that it was a huge deal for you ladies. I know if Monmouth College's Alpha chapter wasnt active, our ears would perk too! Havent heard back from the guy yet, but when I do, I'll let you ladies know what he says in terms of the 3rd sorority.
And hey, this is exciting for me too :) I was VERY excited when actual talk began on the prospect of a 3rd sorority during panhel meetings w/ the advisor. If you have any questions for me, feel free to pm or IM me :)

Just got an e-mail newletter from Headquarters which
has the following:

Fall 2004 Colonizations

Two new colonies will take shape this fall at Greensboro College (North Carolina) and St. Norbert's College (Wisconsin). There is a great need for local alumnae who are willing to assist these colonies in developing.

If you are interested in pursuing volunteer opportunities with either of these colonies, please complete an Extension Cord and send it to the Extension/Marketing Coordinator at headquarters.

So looks like the information that was posted here on Greek chat was correct.

Yippe for us!!!!

The following news item was posted on the Fraternity's web site...

8/25/2004 - Alpha Xi Delta is Growing Again
In September 2004 Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina will welcome Alpha Xi Delta as the campuses first national sorority. We are pleased at the invitation to expand our sisterhood to this campus and the growing Greek system. Plans are currently underway for the September colonization. We are thrilled at the strong support already shown by local alumnae and look forward to continued support and involvement.

Also this fall Alpha Xi Delta will invite a new group of women to realize their potential at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. Ranked in the top three of Midwest colleges by US News and World Report, St. Norbert College caters to over 2,000 students. We were excited to accept the invitation to come to St. Norbert and absorb the local sorority Alpha Sigma Chi. The colonization activities will take place during the first week of October following informal recruitment.

WCUgirl 08-27-2004 11:38 AM

<---------- local alumna who is anxiously awaiting the pledging ceremony!!! (Well, okay, I'm not really local, as Greensboro is about 2 hrs. from me. But I'm excited I'm going to be able to see the colonization process first-hand!)

:D :D :D

Courtney? From Arizona? She's AWESOME! She and Melissa and Brynne (another couple of ELC's) came down and worked with us during Pre-Recruitment. Hope you get to meet more ELC's; they're amazing!

GCrose34 09-01-2004 10:57 PM

Courtney went to school somewhere in Texas.

Tonight was pref night. It was absolutly beautiful. Several of my sisters from the local group and I were sitting in the front row and we all wanted to cry because it was so amazing.
Big thanks to the sisters of the Theta Nu chapter from Elon it was a surprise to have you there. Thank you for coming and making the night so special.

I am so excited/nervous of what tomorrow will bring.

bekibug 09-02-2004 02:04 AM

Yes, Courtney went to school at Texas State, I believe. But she's from AZ. She rocks my socks.

We start formal recruitment on Tuesday. We've got alot of girls interested, so keep your fingers crossed. This being the first recruitment since we installed, we're learning alot of thins that should have been done differently, for future recruitments. For starters, 2 weeks of PR before formal recruitment is absurd! For one thing, we're already feeling burnt out from it, and 2, some potential girls are already tired of seeing us, and 3, by the third week of school you're already knee deep in homework and it just makes it difficult. I think us and Gamma Phi have both agreed to only do 2 weeks starting in the spring. The guys do their rush the very first week of school, but being such a small school with as few girls as we do, we DO need that one extra week of PR, but 2 weeks is too much.

Keep your fingers crossed for us, We've met some awesome girls - I hope they feel the same way about us.

We had 8 girls go through formal recruitment...2 did not accept bids. Gamma Phi got 2, we got 4. We were surprised that one of the girls went to Gamma Phi - shes roommates, and really close friends with one of the girls who joined us. We were shocked to see that they had chosen separately, but the girls we got are GREAT. I'm so excited to finally have some new girls! Gotta love our itty bitty chapter =)

Congratulations!!!

Amanda,

That is great news. And with more women on the SPSU campus wearing greek letters, more interest is bound to arise!

Congratulations!

WCUgirl 09-20-2004 10:12 AM

I was being nosy and was checking out SPSU's website. How come Alpha Xi isn't listed as one of the social sororities? :(

amanda6035 09-20-2004 11:00 AM

For one reason, its because our local website isnt finished yet. For another, the web admin at SPSU is ridiculously behind. They'll add new groups, but they wont take off old groups who are no longer on campus. (You'd think they could at least put the national website up until we get our local one ready)Right now, Gamma Phi and AZD are the only ones there. Its been at least 10 years since Delta Sigma Theta was there, and Zeta Phi Beta was forced off campus.

Anyway, hopefully, our website will be completed soon. We're still working on it.

Amanda

WCUgirl 09-20-2004 11:13 AM

Amanda,

I PM'd you.

AXiDErin 10-03-2004 09:47 AM

As an alum from Oshkosh, I'm excited to see another AXiD chapter opening so close to us. I think St. Norbert's will do well with so many alums in the area. I'm actually a chapter advisor at another AXiD chapter (Theta Tau at Marian College) and the girls are THRILLED to be able to help with the opening of a new chapter. In fact, this week I'll be heading up there for Pref on Tuesday! I'll have to keep you all posted! This is SO exciting!

WCUgirl 10-04-2004 09:53 AM

I don't have any numbers to report, but I did find this article that mentions fall (informal) recruitment. Unfortunately, no numbers or results are listed. And it just mentions the GLO's on campus, not whether or not we're a full chapter yet. I had heard (maybe I read it earlier in this thread) that we were supposed to be fully installed in time for formal recruitment, which I guess would be in January or so.

WCUgirl 06-15-2005 09:27 PM

*bump*

I haven't heard anything about any new colonies. Do you think perhaps they are waiting to announce it at convention?

flirt5721 06-18-2005 01:58 AM

I heard that they are still a colony and that we don't have any new colonies for the upcoming year (as of yet).
