the last time i wrote, it was because i was interested in joining an alumnae chapter (as an alum initiate) in my city, but hadn't heard anything from the local chapter. now i'm writing to say that tonight i was invited to join alpha phi! and, my initiation is next wednesday! i'm so excited! since i've gotten to know the girls in the ivy connection, everyone has been so wonderful, and i'm so honored that they want me to be their alpha phi sister! now i just have to find that something white...!

the local collegiate chapter is initiating a member who wasn't able to participate in initiation last year because she was involved in the filming of a documentary, so i'm being initiated with her at the chapter house before formal rush begins! maybe i'll even get to help with recruitment!

Alumnae chapters cannot initiate. Initiation can only be held by collegiate chapters or upon special request and approval by the International Executive Board.

I *believe* that txtiger will be initiated into the Omega Chapter.

i'm being initiated at the omega chapter house at ut austin. anyone have any words of wisdom they'd like to share? :)

The Omega house is beautiful! A few of my chapter sisters and I went up one night to visit. We were in awe as we walked around and saw the house and everything in it. The history in the house -- wow, just amazing. We know a few of the Omega gals. They are all great!

First off i apologize for the bad typing and sentence structure on the last post... i was having issues that day heheheh. I didn't think they could initiate at a alum chpater but i think it is soo neat you are doing it right before formal rush--full fledged sister!:D

Watch and listen VERY CAREFULLY - it will go by fast, but it is one of the most beautiful experiences next to getting married! And above all else - ENJOY the ceremony - you will love it! Know that thousands and thousands and thousands AND THOUSANDS of women just like yourself for many generations will have experienced what you will go through and when you see your first Alpha Phi after intitation, you will be taken back to that place and time and know she had the same experience...Boy am I grinning from ear to ear!!!!! Let us know what you are feeling afterwards....AND WELCOME!!!!!

This is SO true! One of my favorite things about being a chapter adviser was being able to attend the initiations and not only see the new women go through the experience, but also to revisit the cerermony and "have it all come back"!

So txtiger, now that you are a sister where are you?

first of all, the ceremony was wonderful! and truly beautiful! i was nervous beforehand, but once it all started taking place, it was all so perfect. i really felt like i was witnessing something ageless and amazing! and all of the girls from the collegiate chapter looked so beautiful!

after initiation my new sisters showered me with all kinds of alpha phi gifts, i totally wasn't expecting any of that, and i kind of started to cry! then my sponsor had arranged an initiation banquet! a bunch of the girls from our ivy connection came and it was so fun! truly one of the best nights ever! :)

so, now that everyone (well, not everyone) is wondering, i'm in austin, and now a member of the austin ivy connection! :)

Welcome, TXTiger! Now run along and introduce yourself properly in the Alpha Phi Roll Call!

YEAH! txtiger.... another AI among the midst! I still cannot get over initiation it was truly beautiful, touching and something i hold very dear!

So tell me what kind of A Phi gifts did you recieve? i am jealous! hehehehe. That was sooo cool that they suprised you with the banquet afterwards:D:D

well, let's see....it was really quite a lot of stuff! one of my sisters painted some ivy and "alpha phi" on a little box, and inside the box was a handkerchief with "alpha phi" embroidered on it, and a little pillow to put my pin on ... there was also a huge mug, filled with alternating colors of jelly beans that were all alpha phi colors, that had alpha phi and the year of my initiation painted on it ... they also had a paddle for me (which soon will have, as i'm told, the family tree that they made for me, on the back!) ... a teddy bear :) ... assorted candy and chocolate, in little tin canisters and some in the shape of bears...an alpha phi songbook from 1942! ... some forget-me-not and ivy leaf stationary ... a frog puppet, which was the mascot for the pledge class of one of my sisters ... and last, but certainly not least, a little ivy plant! :) i was so completely surprised by all of this, i had no idea they were going to do what they did!

also, when my sponsor and one of our officers asked me to join, they gave me a little welcome package filled with all kinds of cute alpha phi stuff!

SCORE! I got great gifts when I was initiated too, but I think you hit the Motherlode! :D

i know, i was so overwhelmed! and i felt so bad - i had planned to get something for each of the girls (from the ivy connection) that were at initiation but my schedule was so crazy that day and the previous that i didn't have time to run by and pick up what i had planned! I'll get them all back though! ;)
