ZTA Recruitment Results 2003

Here is our brag thread.

List the chapter, university, and the number of wonderful new members!

ZetaLuvBunny 08-21-2003 10:12 AM

Iota Chi
Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN
# of AWESOME ZTA new members: 33 (which is also QUOTA)

The place: We had Bid Day at the House of Clay/Let it Bead, and all the new members got to make jewelry or pottery there. Of course most of them made something related to ZTA. There was food there also, and our theme for the day was "Welcome to our Family".

The shirts: light blue FRONT: pink lettering, Zeta Tau Alpha (pic of sunglasses)Bid Day Fall 2003 MTSU
BACK: picture of lil girls, and the quote,
"There's no better friend than a sister
There's no one more loyal and true
And even when sisters are different
Their likenesses come shining through."

The backdrop: blown up B&W pictures of old members w/"frames" painted around them and sunglasses painted. The pics will be on the website soon!

Way to go, MTSU Zetas!

Congratulations on taking quota. It sounds like you shared a very fun Bid Day with your new members!:)

ZetaLuvBunny 08-21-2003 11:17 AM

Thanks! I'm extra excited because, after two years I still have never had a Lil Sis (had to take off from school last Fall w/the whole lack-of-student-loan situation), but I will finally have one (or two) this year. We got our Strawberry Sisters yesterday (temporary littles), and mine is the sweetest girl!

I gave her a little basket w/a ZTA ribbon on it, and inside was: a strawberry candle, a diary, ZTA pencil, bunny-shaped hand soap, a keychain in the shape of sunglasses (to go with the Bid Day theme), and strawberry candy. She loved it. I told her we would hang out this weekend, and to call me if she needed anything at all. :D

Wow. You all must have HUGE Greek systems at your schools for quota to be set that high. Our quota this year was actually LOWER (33 vs. 39) than last year because of recruitment being before classes started. I hope we have a later recruitment next year, because I have heard many complaints about the early rush from both old and new members.

More specifically, the poor freshmen who had to move into their dorms the day before the first night of recruitment barely had a chance to get settled, let alone get used to classes and college life in general, before adding to the chaos with Greek life.

Anyhow, congrats fellow Zetas on all the quotas met!!! ;)

strawberrysismd 08-27-2003 05:25 PM

we have informal recruitment in the fall and it never starts til after classes start; classes start on sept 2nd; our first recruitment party is one week after that; it seems so odd to me that some schools have recruitment before classes even start; we don't even start early when we have formal recruitment in the fall; hearing everyone's results and reading rush threads is getting me so excited for recruitment; usually i don't look forward to it all, its just always so much work; not mention that i've been through it about a MILLION times; but i miss my sisters so much and i'm so excited to see them and i'm really looking forward to getting new members! so this year, i'm really excited for recruitment; i feel like we're going to really well; i'll let you all know...

aabby757 08-29-2003 01:13 PM

Strawberrysis, are you a ZTA at UMD? How's the school? The Greek system? Your chapter? Hope to hear from you soon. Have a great semester!

We start CROWN this week. We had the largest new member class of all the chapters on campus. We had preffed 20 PNMs. I can say that my chapter did an amazing job this semester. We had an awesome TLC (Shannon) here the entire recruitment weekend. Our alumnae was there to help all weeekend, as was our Province President. The PNM were so impressed with all of it!!! Just proves that...

Zeta is AWESOME!!

zlam,
meredith \^^^/

GMUBunny 09-12-2003 09:13 PM

GMU rush starts next Friday so I will have our results late late Monday night after Rho Gamma Revealing and breakfast at Denny's :D Right now we're leaps and bounds ahead of where we were last year as far as prep. goes. I have a really good feeling about rush and I can't wait to welcome the new bunnies into our chapter!

Congrats again Meredith! Iota Sigma rocks my lil Zeta world :p

ZTABullwinkle 09-13-2003 02:35 AM

Washburn

Hey! I'm a new member at Washburn University in Topeka! We had recruitment last week. Quota was 14 and we got 14! Our house is now full!! YAY!! I am really excited about being a Zeta! This past week has already been AWESOME!!

ZetaLuvBunny 09-14-2003 04:59 PM

Congrats, Noelle! Welcome to our sisterhood! When do you all have retreat and Big/Lil week?

becljohn 09-15-2003 05:11 PM

Delta Mu

I just wanted to drop a line and state that Delta Mu Chapter at the University of Tennessee at Martin brought in 31 new members after fall recruitment. (quota was set at 28). That make us the largest chapter on Campus.

GMUBunny 09-20-2003 07:10 PM

Congrats becljohn! Good news and bad news here at Theta Chi. Since Miss Isabel thought she was welcome to rush, we had to cancel and reschedule formal for the spring and COB now instead. BUT.... 3 out of 6 of the sororities here are at total and can't COB this semester. So, that leaves boatloads of girls for us to pick up! COB will start Tuesday, and we already have a week's worth of events planned. Wish us luck!!!!

strawberrysismd 09-21-2003 10:52 AM

so we were supposed to have a recruitment party last thursday and then our invite only tomorrow; however, hurricane isabel has changed our plans; our party is tomorrow night and invite only is on wed night; bid day is thursday and i'm so, so, so excited!

ztawinthropgirl 09-21-2003 12:37 PM

Winthrop University's Recruitment is this coming weekend. We have 3 days:
(Day 1) Philanthropy Day
(Day 2) Fraternal Values Day
(Day 3) Preference Day
(Day 3) Bid Day
The Panhellenic Council is projecting quota to be between 35 and 40 girls. Approximately 180 girls are signed up for Recruitment but we still have 4 more days to go before sign-ups are over. We have 5 Panhellenic sororities and 0 locals. The Panhellenic sororities are:
(1) Alpha Delta Pi
(2) Chi Omega
(3) Delta Zeta
(4) Sigma Sigma Sigma
(5) Zeta Tau Alpha
Total is set for 60 members for each sorority. I hope everyone does well in Recruitment. I am so ready for bid day! I say we just skip over the parties and go straight to bid day!

I have a random question though. How do I maintain good attitudes amongst sisters during recruitment?

strawberrysismd 09-21-2003 02:36 PM

i am at the university of maryland; i transferred here from a really small private school where I was really unhappy; i'm senior now, and i'm graduating in december; i love umd; the greek system here is pretty big; we have 14 sororities and i don't know how many fraternities; that's npc soroities; we also have multiculturals; we came to campus in 1990 and we're still the youngest chapter there; we always do much better during informal recruitment than formal; we've had some membership probs and things have been shaky; we don't have the best reputation on campus; we used to have the highest sorority gpa, which i think is great, but other people assumed we were all dorks who did nothing but study; our gpa has gone down, but we still have a reputatuion for being less popular than other houses; i hate it so much; we have so many gorgeous, talented, fun women; i hate that people won't give us a chance just because we're a smaller house; we're losing a lot of seniors this year, so we really have to bring in a lot of new members; i'm sure we'll be ok; because whatever anyone says about us, we are all proud to be zetas and we have an incredibly strong sisterhood

Nhfulmer 09-22-2003 02:33 PM

Eta Tau at UNC Charlotte took quota of 31!! Hurray!!

alsparky 09-22-2003 03:30 PM

Kappa Omicron at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA took 6 fabulous New Members in Informal Recruitment, which puts them at campus total!!!

(I am such a proud advisor!!)

ZL,
Allison

ztawinthropgirl 09-22-2003 09:19 PM

Thanks so much, BrownEyedGirl! Yes, when I got in, my NM class was 25 people. The next year the NM class was 33 girls. This year with more girls going through we've had to raise quota.

strawberrysismd 09-22-2003 09:53 PM

everything was pushed back a week because houses didn't have power; so now our next party isn't until next monday; i just hope everyone can stay motivated and excited for next week

cntryZTA5 09-22-2003 10:00 PM

Theta Phi at Cal State Fullerton welcomed 26 new members into our sisterhood last weekend. They did not make quota, but are close to total for the first time in years! (They were reorganized a few years ago).

Kappa Theta's (Cal State, San Bernardino) recruitment is the first weekend in October.

Theta Omega's (Cal Poly, Pomona) recruitment is the second weekend in October.

Wish our California chapters luck!

radioZTA 09-23-2003 03:12 PM

Wahoo!

Congratulations to all of our chapters on their beautiful New Members! Sounds like everyone is doing great!

ztawinthropgirl 09-28-2003 10:44 PM

Winthrop University's Recruitment

The Theta Sigma chapter at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC received 31 wonderful new girls! Quota was 29! Go Theta Sigma girls! Chapter totals are 60. we have over 90 girls in Theta Sigma now!

ZTAMich 09-29-2003 09:41 PM

Kappa Iota at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA is welcoming 6 new members at tonite's Bid-Night for informal rush. That puts them at total (42) and possibly over, waiting to confirm that. They filled from the first party which is really good for the campus and the chapter.

Congrats ladies!!

(I am such a proud alumna!)

Noelle 09-30-2003 04:04 PM

Hey! sorry it took me so long to reply, I have just been really busy! We had our retreat Sunday and this week is big/lil sis week! I am really excited! I have had an GREAT experience so far and I am sure it will only get better! :)

strawberrysismd 10-01-2003 06:59 AM

we have invite only tonite, but i can't go:(
i'm trying to get over my bronchitis and i'm coughing so badly and i just feel awful; so i think it would be better if i just stayed home in bed tonight; plus, i really want to get better for tomorrow, because after all, it it bid day!:)

GMUBunny 10-03-2003 02:31 AM

things here at GMU got switched around again. our rush was changed to a formal-informal. we had one 'sneak peek' on sunday night, and then the rest of the week has been COB-type events. the way quota is done is that each group can take 15 women from the 230 that came to the sneak peek. the groups who aren't at total can also add unlimited women who did not participate in sunday's event. we are having preference tomorrow night, and 27 women have been invited!!!! not all of the women we have met are able to attend...just those 27. we are incredibly excited, as this is the largest preference we have had in a LONG time. the majority of these women did not participate sunday, so we are looking at the Beta Alpha class being 20+!!!!!! bid night is wednesday so I'll have #'s then, as long as things don't manage to get screwed up again! wish us luck!!!!

ZLAM,
Meghan

strawberrysismd 10-06-2003 03:22 PM

Iota Omega at UMD has 12 wonderful new members and we will continue to crown!
