radiohead is such a good choice. i love them

AXPGoBot 08-13-2003 09:35 AM

Off the top of my head... I'd have to go with either:

Vertical Horizon's "Everything You Want"

-- OR --

Van Halen's "Right Now"

I really like the little text messages throughout the whole thing, and I just think the concept of the Vertical Horizon video (just realized that they're both "VH"... werid...) is just kinda cool. Simple, but not too plain.

ZTAngel 08-13-2003 09:37 AM

Pearl Jam's Jeremy.

It eerily predicted the events of Columbine with the written words that came across the screen. Such as "in an affluent suburb". The main character had family problems and was teased in school. And, of course, the end of the video which still sends chills up my spine every time I see it.

AXPGoBot 08-13-2003 09:48 AM

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the video for "Jeremy" was inspired by an actual event that happend years before Columbine (sp?) at a school somewhere in Ohio or something.

A kid comes to class and basically kills himself in front of everyone w/ a revolver, getting blood everywhere (hence the "try to erase this... from the blackboard")

Is this right?

ZTAngel 08-13-2003 09:50 AM

I think so. Eddie Vedder had read in a newspaper about a kid who shot himself in front of the class. But, I think the other concepts in the video and the lyrics (like his parents not loving him, affluent suburb, kids teasing him, etc.) were created by the band.

Yes about it not being about Columbine. I belived that "Jeremy" only imagined about killing his classmates, or killing himself.

"Rabbit in your headlights" by U.N.K.L.E with DJ Shadow and Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

Really amazing, great symbolism, and makes you think.

I was wondering when someone was going to post this!!!
You guys have to see it, it's on MTV right now. Everything in the video is going backwards, including the lead singer, but his mouth is going forwards with the song. I cannot figure out how they did it but it is so so cool.
