Cool Rush Video--Must See...

I found this really great rush video produced by Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Florida- Gainsville. I found it a couple of months ago but just barely relocated the addy for it so here it is..

http://grove.ufl.edu/~thetauf/rushvideo.html

(cut and paste, just in case addy does not work)

P.S. Some parts have blocks but just go through the entire video even if you only hear audio.

AlphaPhiBubbles 08-13-2003 02:31 AM

*sniffle*

Ok, so now I really want to rush Theta at UF.

I'm not joking! That was the best rush video I have ever seen! Although, I haven't seen any others. Man I wish we had done something like that!!!

phimugal09 08-13-2003 04:21 AM

Wow! That was absoultely beautiful. A great presentation of the most wonderful aspects of sorority life. If I were a PNM, I'd wanna go Theta after that video. GREAT job girls!

nauadpi 08-13-2003 05:38 AM

That is a great video...and really makes me think that I do need to video tape a bunch of my sorority's activities and make one...They have inspired me...

Ok I had to fight back the tears because I'm at work, that video took me back to my days as an active in Sigma Kappa, what an awesome video.

trisigmaAtl 08-13-2003 12:48 PM

HOLY S***T!!!! that was amazing!!! I too, would want to be a Theta after watching that video. It was so fun and sweet and nice, I wish we had the kind of budget to put together something like that. And all those words at the end....FANTASTIC!

AOII_LB93 08-13-2003 12:51 PM

Neat video, my chapter has been doing those since 1995. We've got some great ones...now to figure out how to get them on the net. heheheh

TriSigma4Life 08-13-2003 01:11 PM

Wow! What an awesome video! Almost made me cry.

One of my good friends is a Theta at ONU. I'll have to share this link with her so she can see what a great job her sisters at another chapter are doing! :)

4RunnerStar 08-13-2003 01:30 PM

navane 08-13-2003 01:30 PM

Wow...what a great video! The person who put it together clearly has skill. I wonder if he or she does this for a living?

You know, I used to work for Academic Computing Services at CSULB. If you go to the North Campus Center/Horn Center you can go to either the Open Lab or the Media Development lab to use software and equipment to transfer the videos from VHS to digital or online format.

I myself own a Macintosh and I use iMovie to edit and format video. I recently coverted some footage to Quicktime format for use on a website.

Of course, being a former ACS Lab Consultant, I can tell you that the student employees there would be more than happy to help you get started on the project. At least, they *should* be happy to help! :)

To check out the location, hours and equipment available, check out this link:

Hope this helps!

Wow. That was such a sweet video. I can't wait until I get to see the videos at my rush. :)

PreppyGirl 08-13-2003 10:37 PM

That is a great video!! We use videos during our recruitment, too, but I don't think that any of them are as good as that one.

So... are there any other recruitment videos posted on the web to help me pass the hours at work??

Glitter650 08-14-2003 02:59 AM

OH MY GOSH that was sooo cute !! They did SUCH a good job My chapter really needs to make a video...

iMovie ROCKS, and is so easy to use!

rainbowbrightCS 08-14-2003 11:06 AM

Sorry, no more videos, but the Alpha Xi Delta house at Indiana University is quite a site to see!! Check out the Alpha Delta Pi chant on the their link (also Indiana University). I must warn you it is LOUD so turn your volume down if you are at work. :D

SigKapQueen 02-10-2004 07:14 PM

BUMP*

does anyone else have videos like these. we have something like this in our chapter, but i want to see what others do to get some ideas. i honestly think this is the best recruitment video i have ever seen!!!!

sairose 02-11-2004 11:25 PM

WOw that video is amazing! That would DEFINATELY make me want to be a Theta if I was a PNM!

TriDeltaGal 02-12-2004 12:36 AM

Wow! If you think that video was good, you should see the ones done at UCLA...I would say that most chapters spend at minimum $500 on their videos. It is a major part of recruitment here and a way of showcasing all of your house's events and activities. I didn't see this year's, but I heard that ours was AMAZING!

A big factor is that it is usually on 8 party day and that night PNMs have to cut it down to 4 houses, so it can play a big factor in where PNMs want to go.

CatStarESP4 02-12-2004 02:30 AM

That video is sooooo awesome! I almost cried while watching it. My compliments to all involved in the making of the video. Well done!

:)

KDbutterfly 02-12-2004 06:57 AM

Wow, that video really brought me back. I miss my sisters so much right now. It reminds me how much being a KD meant to me. Incredible job! Makes me want to go back to college, that's for sure =)

angelic1 02-12-2004 10:41 AM

That was a really good video..

we use videos as well during recruitment. In the beginning they were just pictures with music and such. Now we interview sisters and edited tape. They are also nice to have copies of later on. Sometimes I watch mine when I miss people :)

also.. its fun bc at the end.. is a bunch of the edited material that the pnms dont get to see ;) its all the funny stories that were told on camera when people were talking or funny movies from different events..

bluefish81 02-15-2004 03:51 PM

The video is super cute. Makes me happy that I'm a Theta. The words at the end of it aren't something that they created however. It's part of a video that our HQ created that is generally know as the "Words Video," with the Forrest Gump Suite playing along with it. It alone makes me cry, but what that chapter did with the whole thing is pretty cool I think.

phimu344 02-15-2004 10:26 PM

that was an awesoem video

veemers 02-16-2004 12:07 AM

i wasn't particularly impressed by the video. it was very stock. blah blah blah i love my sisters, we're all so different, we all stand up for each other and do stuff for each other. that doesn't make kappa different from other sororities. what about their philanthropy projects? what are their annual sponsored events? i hate to say this, but the video just reminded me of a bubblegum sleepover. pretty girls get together and have fun.

Thetagurl 02-19-2004 01:59 PM

that is the most disrespectful thing I have ever read. Please do not take something that is just one piece of the entire rush process and make it negative. That is probably something the rushees see to get familiar with theta. Trust me their is a philanthrophy night and all kinds of other activites to bring out community service and grades, etc. Watching that video gave me a great feeling and reminded me of how great it is to be apart of the most wonderful organization in the world. Not only is being a theta special...being greek is great and those were the best times of my life. In a hectic work world after graduation seeing that video allowed me to smile and think back to my college years. Please do not take something special and turn it into something negative.

Thetagurl 02-19-2004 02:00 PM

By the way we are not called "kappas" we are called "thetas"
"Kappa" is Kappa Kappa Gamma

First of all, I call them Kappas because Theta Pi Gamma, here at Beloit College, is called Theta. Our other local is looking into getting Kappa Alpha Theta recolonized here. To avoid confusion, I call them Kappa.

Second of all, I wrote nothing disrespectful. Just my OPINION of the VIDEO. It was a poorly done video, both technically and thematically.

Thetagurl 02-20-2004 04:23 AM

Since our video is so poor...please post your video on the thread I would love to get some tips to pass on to the girls on how to improve their video.
thanks a bunch :)

EEKappa 02-20-2004 11:15 AM

Heck, after seeing that video I wanted to pledge Theta myself! I particularly liked the quotes at the end.

I know nothing about video production, but thought it was an impressive promotional piece. My guess is that most PNM share my level of expertise, and would be similarly impressed.

:)

33girl 02-20-2004 11:27 AM

I couldn't watch the video (I got a big red X and "pi chi") but if it doesn't do it for someone, no need to jump on them or ask where their video is. I didn't hear anyone saying "this video sucks and KAT sucks too", just opinions on the content.
