Serious Problem

Okay, I am a 34 DD and have been for some yaers. I am thin, I wear a 5/6 but my boobs are the first thing people notice about me. They are huge. I can't find bathing suits, except in Florida, and I have to buy seperates. I can't wear but maybe two or three, because if they go behind my neck they hurt! I have huge dents in my shoulders from my strap marks. I wear two shirts to work to cover any possible cleavage and yet my boss mentioned today that even though he knows I am trying not to, and even though he knows I am not aware of it, if a taller man comes in he can see cleavage down some of my shirts, so I need to be more selective about what I wear.
Well I am thinking that I should get reduction. Everyone always wishes they had bigger boobs it seems, but it is all people notice on me. My friends and family all tease me, which doesn't really bother me anymore, I am used to it, but I hate that it is the #1 consideration I have for buying clothes, or going places. I just need a miracle. I am so ready to cry. This sucks. Why can't I just be normal?

justamom 08-11-2003 08:02 PM

I honestly believe you should look into it. A lot of things can be done to make one feel more confident in life and this is no exception. All I would ask is that you weigh any health concerns against the end result. There are ALWAYS risks.

It seems to be a simple surgery and if it helps your back and shoulder problems (which will ONLY get worse as you age) that alone is reason enough. You have my sympathy. Sometimes God's abundance is more than we can carry!

Roseblum15 08-11-2003 08:18 PM

One of my good friends had reduction surgery and is so much happier now. She was always a wild person, but now she is so much more confident about herself. It was definately a good decision on her part.

So like the above posts, if you are serious about it, definately look into it.

Good Luck

sugar and spice 08-11-2003 08:30 PM

I think you should look into it, too. I know a couple of women who have done it and they all say they wish they'd done it sooner. If it's making you that uncomfortable, surgery would probably help quite a bit.

You're definitely not the only woman with this problem. :)

WhiteDaisy128 08-11-2003 08:45 PM

Just to point something out - you mentioned that you are considering a breast reduction because you can't find clothes, or bathing suits and you are teased. I would like to mention that us women with no boobs have similar problems. I can't even find bras to fit (I mean NOT EVEN kid training bras!), and no clothes look rights, even my speedo bathing suit (for lap swimming) has extra fabric where boobs should be. We don't have the back problems and such, but just remember, some girls that go the other way and get breast implants do it for more than just superficial reasons.

Two year countdown to breast implants for me! Small-Medium B here I come!!! Weeeeeeeeee....

chicagoagd 08-11-2003 09:33 PM

I believe that if you are experiencing back pain and migraines, there are some insurance companies that will cover the procedure. Make sure to check into that as well.

DZHBrown 08-11-2003 11:31 PM

When I was in high school, I wore a DDD and a size 8 dress. It was awful trying to find clothes, my back hurt, guys were a pain in the ass, etc. I had a breast reduction at 17 and it was a great decision!! It was worth doing, insurance paid for it and I'm much happier now.

Kristin AGD 08-11-2003 11:50 PM

This problem runs in my family. I was a C cup by the time I entered junior high. And we have way to many D's in our family to count. Ugh! And my youngest sister is more like you I think. Only she is shorter. She is about 5'1 and a size 2 or smaller. But she has to think about what she wears carefully. There are just certain things we don't wear. And we have accepted the stares. (Our aunts are the same way). My dad has described his personal experiences of what happens during surgery. And it is not pretty. Nor is the recovery. But I know this is something I will have done eventually. But it won't be until it is neccessary. Like back pain, or if they start hanging down around my knees. ;)

My advice would be to not put yourself through it until it is neccessary. But going and getting a doctor to explain everything to you would be informative and might alter your decision.

What I wouldn't give to be able to jog in public!!

KillarneyRose 08-12-2003 12:23 AM

Honestly, you need to do what will make you happy. It is your body; you and only you live with it every, single day! If you will feel better having reduction surgery, then go for it. Or at the least make an appointment with a plastic surgeon. There is absolutely nothing wrong with changing aspects of your appearance that you are unhappy with and I say that life is waaay too short to spend part of it not feeling your best :)

pinkyphimu 08-12-2003 12:35 AM

one of the girls i work with had it done this past spring. her insurance company paid for it bc she had so many well documented back problems! the one thing her doctor suggested was that she also receive a liposuction under her arms (where the boobs kind of hang over) bc it makes the whole thing better. this part she had to pay for herself, but it was only $1500. she had the surgery over a vacation and took another week off from work. she basically had to wear a sports bra for a month and couldn't exercise or do streneous activity. all in all, she is SO HAPPY!!!!!! she loves being able to buy bras that don't look like "granny" bras and cute tops! check it out and see what is best for you!

Munchkin03 08-12-2003 12:39 AM

Everyone I know who has gotten a reduction has had it covered by their medical insurance. Most insurers now recognize the health benefits of breast reduction--you should certainly check into it.

I think that you should do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. However, I'm really bothered by the statement above. Maybe instead of telling you to cover up more, your boss should tell grown men that they should know better than to look down your shirt. I fail to understand how that should be your problem. What asses.

I was thinking the same thing as valkyrie. They shouldn't be looking down your shirt. It's not like you are flaunting yourself. As everyone here has said, you need to do what makes you feel best about yourself. I know someone who had breast reduction surgery, and it was very successful. I know someone else who wears minimizer bras from Wacoal. She looks like she is a cup size smaller. Maybe you can try this first.

Today's award winner for most predictable post of the day.

ilovemyglo,

While i've never personally had to deal with this, i think you've gotten some great advice on this thread.

Plus, if you think you've got back problems now, i'd imagine that in 20 or 30 years it'll be a lot worse.

How childish is that statement?

Listen, I think it'd be awful to get a breast reduction. Honestly if I met a girl and later found out she used to have a larger snack tray (a dinner table if you will) and downgraded I would be left wondering.

Saying boobs are the first thing anyone notices about you is not bad. It's like having a nice bum or beautiful legs.

SparkliiQTMTSU 08-13-2003 12:34 AM

I think that it is a very good thing to look into. I know a girl that I worked with that got one a couple of months ago and she absolutly loves it. She said that it was the best decision she made. She was a small girl too about a size 6 or 8 and her boobs were causing her some major problems but her insurance paid for it and now shes having a blast with clothing and no more back issues! I think it a great thing, that you should definitly consider if its something thats really bothering you.

Glitter650 08-13-2003 01:15 AM

I know 3 people who have had breast reductions and they are all EXTREMELY happy with the results. If this is really bothering you I think you should definitely go talk to a doctor and get all of your questions about the surgery answered :D Boys just don't understand what a pain boobs can be sometimes... ignore themand do what is best for you !

erniegurl00 08-13-2003 03:10 AM

I've always been against changing your body in any way (ie breast enlargement, lypo suction, etc), but I've always agreed that breast reduction is a good idea if it's a medical issue. I say look into it since it's hurting your back and shoulders. However, I hope you realize that you're beautiful just the way you are and don't need to change. :D

*Randomness*I also wanted to say that I'm now proud to have smaller breasts. I used to want breast enlargement, but now I'm like "What's the point?" We do have some advantages. Besides, they'll never sag! :D

That's what I thought...

A grandmother and granddaughter were at the doctor's office and noticed a young girl with a cute little rose tattoo on the top of her breast. The girl mentioned how nice she thought it looked and the Grandmother said, "That's going to be one, long stemmed rose by the time she reaches my age.":D

Don't let these women convince you they're proud not to have a nice rack, I don't know any woman who likes to have next to no tits at all. Tits and a Vagina are the only difference between a woman and a man.

Ahh yet again, being a total a$$...I guess that is to be expected, and before you go saying that I am ugly and no one looks at my chest, think again, worm.
/end rant

ilovemyglo-

My aunt and one of my very best friends have both had reductions...and they were larger than you (Es I think..minimum) and both are SO happy with the results. My friend was so excited to be able to shop at VS she went on a spree, and my aunt was happy that she didn't have neck and back issues and could pick up her son(who was a toddler at the time) without pain. Look into it...my aunt had Kaiser and even they ended up paying for it...finally...but that is a whole other story.

White_Chocolate 08-15-2003 10:35 AM

i'm a 38 DD but i put some meat on my bones so that my body could carry the chest part
being a size 10 or 12 with a 38 DD chest isn't bad
and i don't know if you know where to shop but the Dillards and Tropic stores here in Kentuckiana carry whole bathing suits for women up to 45 F
Victoria's Secret has bras which go up to DD as well

ilovemyglo 08-15-2003 11:51 AM

Well- I have made an Appointment to go in November to meet and see if I qualify and if so if my insurance will cover it. I mean come on!! aa 27 inch waist and a 40 inch bust! That is ridiculous!
But thanks for the comments- except for that one guy= and as for him hismother didn't breastfeed him long enough.

I never said you or anyone else, for that matter, were ugly. I was implying that there's nothing wrong with guys loving tits, honey. Many of women have met their husbands simply due to the fact that the man liked her boobs and was attracted to them which led to meeting each other. Chill out!:)

You're kddani, right? I swear to god you are. No, wait, you're actually kddani, Tom earp and ufpike98.

I think this guy (pike) has mythical status here. He's never posted since I've been here and from what I gather from others he caused a lot of problems on greekchat. I don't cause problems. From the posts I've read of his I didn't see anything wrong with the person. Futhermore, I don't see how I'm coming off as rude. I might be a smart ass but thats my deal. For the last time, I'm not pike! If you'd like absolutschick, email me at Arliksson@hotmail.com

Ugh...yet again I must hijack to respond to our lovely "friend".

First, don't call me honey, you haven't even come close to EARNING that privilege.

Secondly, my point was that I just don't understand how you can come into this post when someone is truly concerned about something and throw around the comments like you do. No one here argued with guys loving breasts. And again with your generalizations of how women meet their husbands? If anything this post at least shows you are about as deep as a puddle in the kindergarten sandbox. I don't need to chill out, I never got bent in the first place, I just think that you have nothing better to add to this conversation and should just stay out of it.

ilovemyglo- YAY you! Best wishes at the DR...and we will keep our fingers crossed that the insurance company will see the light.:)

Tom Earp 08-15-2003 05:58 PM

I truely wish I knew what you are talking about here:confused:

I am personally a Leg man!:D BOOBS everywhere but none to love:rolleyes:

Do not do it, unless is hurting your spinal area! I know that is not good!:(

If for cosmetic, eh, Dolly Parton Wigs and pushed up boobs dont do it for me!:o

cash78mere 08-15-2003 07:20 PM

i feel your pain. i'm a DD, almost down to a D, and would love to get them reduced.

my best advice to you is to get a consultation. your doctor can tell you the risks, advantages and costs. together you can make an informed decision on what is best for YOU.

just keep in mind that many women who get the surgery can never breastfeed in the future. i don't think it's everyone, but a lot. that's a big concern of mine.

good luck to you
