Fraternity Groupies

Ok I when I started my org I never thought that we would have a groupie but we do. She always hangs around and proclaimed herself as our sweetheart. She has hit/flirted on a lot of the guys. So does anyone have any groupies? Is there such a thing as a Sorority Groupie?

Betarulz! 08-11-2003 05:55 PM

I think this thread has quickly gone from groupie to stalkers...

We do have Beta groupies and one stalker. There are a bunch of girls who always come to our parties, they came to rush events, and if any one needs a date for a party they are usually happy to come, just b/c they have so many friends in the house. These are the ones who I would say fall in to groupie status.

We did have one girl in a sorority that shall remain nameless who has gone off the deep end. We found last year that she kept a scrapbook of all our newspaper clippings, as well as the photos she took at any and all parties she went to. She seriously spent more than half of her freshman year staying at Beta. She has made out with at least 14 guys across three pledge classes (in most cases doing far more than just making out). Some point during fall semester 2002 she totally snapped though and when a couple of her sisters asked what she had done the night before, she said that she let three guys in Beta shave her nether regions:eek:   on our deck!!! Of course this was a total lie, but that's when it got way too strange and now she is not to be invited by any brother to a Beta function. This would be a stalker.

PandaOnProzac 08-11-2003 05:59 PM

We've got a few. They're not so much groupies but more like friends of some of my bros that hang out a lot.

Peaches-n-Cream 08-11-2003 07:40 PM

My sisters and I used to go to an unnamed fraternity's weekly party. One of the brothers said that we were his fraternity's groupies. We found another way and place to spend our time. After a few weeks, he asked me why we didn't go to their parties anymore. Because we didn't want to be accused of being your groupies.

There were some girls who really were fraternity groupies and provided the brothers with 'comfort', treating them as if they were rock stars. I never understood that.

OUlioness01 08-11-2003 07:46 PM

i hang out with the same fraternity most of the time, but that's because one of my best friends is a member and another one ofmy best firends is dating their president. i've never been accused of being a groupie...in fact some of the brothers get really upset and call me if i don't come to a party because i went somewhere else.

i have seen groupies though. they are crazy...the girls that get mad if you're talking to a friend of yours. while at an unnamed fraternity's party one freshman girl asked one of my sisters who she knew...she quickly listed off the name of every guy that lived in the house. that girl was a groupie...only there for the guys

KillarneyRose 08-11-2003 07:52 PM

Sort of off topic, but how in the world did the guy in Hootie's thread get into college???

Unregistered- 08-11-2003 07:59 PM

There's a local fraternity on campus that has groupies. It's funny because you see them at everything...football games, their parties...the restaurants. These guys probably think that their sure things as far as fooling around goes. I don't really hang out with those guys, but I know that the sorority girls who frequent their events don't care for them at all. I feel sorry for these girls...they're labeled "sorority rejects". :(

As for sorority groupies...we have one guy, David, who's always around, but I wouldn't necessarily label him a groupie because he's such a sweet guy. He doesn't hit on any of us because he's gay, and we love having him around. We've nicknamed him the honorary Alpha Gam.

My chapter had one. His name is Danny. I first met him my Sophomore year because a girl in the pledge class below me brought him to our table upstairs in the student center. He's a kid that went to her high school and they ran into each other on campus I guess. Well anyways, Danny is...special. He's about 21 now and he lives with his grandparents. He is very smart but there's something wrong with him, like he talks funny. While he's nice and all it's extreamly annoying. He lives a VERY VERY sheltered life. Like he goes to bed around 9 pm because his grandparent's make him. He spends 10 minutes brushing his teeth...all this weird quirky stuff.

Anyways, the poor kid doesn't even know where babies come from. My sisters were talking about it cuz one of them was taking her healthful living exam and he said, "Babies come from storks" and we all didn't know how to react. It was just shocking.

So anyways, later that year he wanted to have a party at his grandparent's house...actually a Softball game. It was to be the Chi Omega's and Danny versus the Pikes....well he had like drawn, with crayon, a picture of how he was going to transform his backyard into a baseball field. Then he mass emailed everyone the rules. The sad thing is no one showed up cuz it was like during graduation week.

I know it sounds like we led him on, but we didn't. I mean this kid would pass me on campus, for instance, and turn the other way and follow me to my class (even if his class was in the other direction). One time he followed me to my car even.

Then I moved back from Texas and saw him on campus...i asked him if he'd hung out with the Chi Omegas and get this, he was pissed that no one had asked him to our date party so he told me, "My grandfather and I are going to kill them".

i know who ur talking about, ive been at ur table hanging out and this dude has come up, ive heard some interesting stories about this dude.

but to answer the question, we have groupies, and i cannot stand any of the current ones!!!! they annoy the hell out of me!!!!!

Rio_Kohitsuji 08-11-2003 08:05 PM

Grrr I absolutely despise groupies!!

I was really never a groupie, I met my boyfriend w/in the first month of my freshman year, so I never had "time" to become a groupie. :p But my gawd..the real groupies are friggin' annoying!!  At one point I was wearing TKE209's letter shirt around and some of the girls got all mad at me saying how they should be allowed to wear the letters!! Can you believe that??

DeltaSigStan 08-11-2003 08:49 PM

The majority of our groupies are coked out skanks from Lake Tahoe (Our old prez grew up there) that are either drunk or high or worse. I'm no angel and neither are my friends that are girls, but they're pretty much the ONLY girls who come over....the same maybe 8 girls from Tahoe........hopefully with a new eboard and a new attitiude from the house, it'll change...

Hopefully, we'll get some groupies who are currently groupies of a certain skater boy arrogant asshole fraternity...........Josh knows who I'm talking about, he lives on the other side of them.

Kevlar281 08-11-2003 09:48 PM

Yes we have groupies; who doesn’t? But I think it’s at its worst when our date functions start getting close on the calendar. There were about ten girls hanging out at our house 24/7 the week before Rose Ball hoping for a last minute invite. Normally I wouldn’t care too much but this was finals week and they all knew I planed on going stag.

ok, yes, we had a fraternity groupie.

When i pledged, she was a member of a sorority and one of our 'little sis's'. Now i always knew that she was on the dirty side, but one night we were at the house for a little late night, after barhopping drinking. It was me, a couple bros and the girl in question. We were sitting on the porch and she goes, you know, i think i've been with a sigma nu from the last 5 pledge classes. She then procedes to go, yeah, i've got an alpha eta, alpha zeta, AE etc. Then she looks at me, and i'm like, wow good thing i've got a gf(had one at the time).

This girl would always be invited to our events and would ususally end up being taken as an emergency date. It got to the point where one of our ex EC members wrote her a endorsement letter for her sorority after they wanted to kick her out for not living up to their ideals. They did eventually. The thing is, the girl was not attractive. She was stick-thin and had a huge head, like she was some kinda FAS baby. <shudder>

We've had groupies male and female but they only are around a few semesters until they either join or are banned fro the house.

if you're a fraternity sweetheart, you're considered a groupie
sorry but it's not liek you're going to anybody else's house to hang out

so, i am self proclaiming myself a PIKE groupie. . .but i love the SAEs as well. . .there just aren't any on my campus. . .

Heh..Believe it or not I'm not a groupie :) I'm not the chapter Sweetheart, I'm pinned by one of the members. I don't even really hang out with the guys maybe 1 or 2 when they're around. Plus, they don't even have a house and I don't even frequent events by the fraternities whether it be by the TKE's or anyone else :p

I'm definately also a Pike groupie.. But I date one, so I think that makes it ok. At my school, since pretty much everyone's Greek (like 90%) of people, pretty much everyone is someone else's groupie. But that's cool.

Then, there are the stalkers!

This is kinda off-subject, but I'll keep it short. Your post reminded me of a guy who went to my old boyfriend's college...this guy would break into Ex-AchtungBoy's dorm room and smoke all his cigarettes, then mess around on the computer. He thought it was the best game ever. This guy was, shall we say, a little slow...he seemed to have the mindset of a young child and his words/actions reflected this. So how did he get into university? Well, this university took everyone...but I'm not sure how someone like this could get into a school with any kind of admission restrictions.

Anyway, groupies...well, we had a couple, I guess...they were mostly guys who were dating girls in my chapter, so I guess they kinda had to hang out with us. ;)

ladybug1116 08-12-2003 02:00 PM

 to fraternity groupies. I have to say as the girlfriend of a fraternity member, groupies are very annoying... It's really pathetic actually that they are so willing to drop anything and everything to do well...anything and everything for these guys. (And yes take that to mean what you think it means) Anyway when the groupie girls start getting terretorial I literally want to tell them where to go.

So on a lighter note...we had some sisters in college who were definite groupies. The ones I can think of now were Sigma Nu groupies and they were called "Snoopys" :p

truthfully, i have only made out with one PIKE
but he doesn't go to our school

I must admit that when I was a freshman I was a groupie to one fraternity for the first semester and then a groupie for a different house the second semester. A bunch of my friends and I went to their dated party. After freshman year, I grew out of that.

I wouldn't call this guy a groupie-- he's one of my sister's best friends. He'd always be at the house for meals and so a lot of sisters got to know him... he's been to a few of our dated parties and formals. We'd call him one of our sisters for fun... so when I'd see him at the bars, I'd call him one of my sisters... he took it all in stride.

Aww it's so sad to be so desired, isn't it! :D hehe...I wanted to go to Rose Ball at my school but the guy I would've gone with was too broke to go :(

This thread reminds me of the Delta Iota Kappa groupie from Van Wilder (I forget which fake sorority she was in) but she always wore those shirts that said "I heart DIK" or something...damn I love that movie.

Hehehe! That's cute! :) And it accurately describes one whole sorority on my campus. Ick.

I'm with you TKESweetheart - girlfriends are different than groupies. My boyfriend was a KA, and I spend waaayyy less time hanging around the guys & the house than the groupies did. I think they lived there!

AXPGoBot 08-13-2003 09:44 AM

We used to have a few groupies (or "Crow-Hoes" as we called them... and they actually liked being called that... weird...). Sometimes it was annoying but sometimes it was nice to know that no matter what, we'd have a decent crowd of regulars at our parties.

I think every Fraternity needs a core of groupies. These girls were really cool and helped us rush at parties. One of them even made the whole chapter brownies with each Brother's name on a brownie! That was awesome...

But yeah, the two main ones pledged a sorority last year, so we don't really see them anymore. It seems to be mostly a freshmen thing that people grow out of their soph year.

::crosses fingers hoping for some new crow-hoes to go with our new house:: :D
