How much are your books?
I am still bored lol, so how much are your book this semester?
PRINCIPLES OF INFO.SYSTEMS $71.00 ORG BEHAVIOR WITH SELF ASS CD $121.75 WEST'S LEGAL ENVIRON.OF BUS.+ONLINE GD. $119.00 QUANTITATIVE ANAL.F/MGMT.-W/CD $123.75 MARKETING RESEARCH $57.00 which brings it to a grand total of $492.50 |
Be glad you're not a student in an art or architecture program. I paid over $1,000 in studio supplies for one class ALONE. The only consolation is that I can use most of those supplies forever.
Normally, I pay about $375 a semester in books for my other classes. |
EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY $83
EXCEPTIONAL LIVES $83 PRINCIPLES OF MACROECONOMICS $86.80 GRAND TOTAL: $252.80 luckily one of my classes is an observation...this is only 3 classes worth of books :( |
Well I am only taking two classes. Both require new edition of books that came out this year! However, I found one book on amazon.com for only $47.80 (the price at the bookstore was $77.25). The other book I will be buying at the bookstore. :( It's for accounting and the price is $124.25. But, my old work-study boss said that I could use her 10% discount which will bring the book down to $111.82. So my grand total is: $163.11. My cheapest semester yet.

Textbook site
Okay, I found my accounting book on this website called College Books Direct. They are selling the book for like $85.00!! :D In the bookstore it's $124.25. I'm so happy, I thought I''d share my news.

Mine are about $500 this semester.
My first semester in law school, they were $1000. And I've only been able to sell one of them back. For a whopping $25.00 |
usually i get my books on like half.com and save like $150+ but this time i couldn't find most of my books cheaper or in better condition so i had to get em in the bookstore...so i'm saddened to say i spent $306.18 i'm used to spending like $100-150 at the most so it sucks...and i still need 2 books and that will prolly make the grand total $400+ grrrrrrrr:mad:

I sold almost all of my law books back (study aides sell well too) and made a lot of the money back. They look nice on your shelf, but there's really no need to hang on to them. :) |
How much are your books??? How much are your books???
TOO DAMN MUCH! |
it's a pity that i am in upper level classes
and i don't buy the book until the day before our first test and if we don't have a test, i don't buy the book sometimes 2 of us will go half on it |
Quote:
All I sold was my contracts book. Also, because we have the civil law in LA, we have 2 sets of books for many classes - a common law text, and then a civil law text, published by the school. |
my books are cheap for this semester. i only paid $270.00. much lower than usual
|
Well during this summer semester for 3 books I only spent $50. This is due to I bought one off of Amazon for $20, bought one from the dreaded bookstore for $30 and the last one was free because I used a the same book that my older sister did.
This fall semester however...oye..the average is normally around $400...and I'm skimp A LOT. |
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing around $250 - $300.
I have to buy books for: Child Psychology (probably around $75) Behavioral Modification (prob. $75) Computer Literacy (??? no clue) Themes in American Literature (prob. $50) Seminar on Careers in Psychology (only like $10) Luckily, a friend of mine who keeps all of her textbooks is allowing me to use her Algebra book (it's like $90!), but I still have to buy the $100+ calculator that I'll never use again. |
Well, since I have already graduated, nothing! Woo hoo! Music was an expensive major though...
However, my sister is a Photography major and it is through the roof!!!!!!!! She has to have several different kinds of cameras (even an antique!) photo paper, darkroom stuff, lens filters, film, accessories, etc. And most of it you have to buy at specialty stores. It is unbelievable. My mom has a Masters in Art though from back in the day (no longer in that career!) so she knows that it is way expensive. |
zetaluv check on ebay for the calculator, I assume you are buying one of the TI models.
|
My books
Theories of Personality- $71, used
History of Social Sciences- 5 separate books, about $60 Botany- $80 used, Lab manual $45 Algebra 2- $72 used Psychosocial Rehab Practices- $35 So, yeah... Nat |
I am a History Ed. major and my books came to a total of $450.00 this semester. 15 books in all!
|
Last Semester at USC, I think I paid like 500 dollars or so for books. This semester at ASU I paid $325 for my books!
|
I recently finished summer school of 2 classes. I had to buy four books total for about $125 which wasn't too bad. Only sad thing was I only received $39 for selling all those books! Sheesh. I don't like the beginning of the school year because the school leaks so much of your funds, especially now with the whole fee increase and all. Ugh.
|
Over $400... again. At the end of the semester, I'll go out to lunch with the $ I get when I sell them back.
|
My books/supplies were about $750 last semester!
What really gets me though, is that in my nursing curriculum, they "strongly encourage" you to keep your books throughout the program as a reference aide. *coughBULLISHTcough* So this pretty much means that when you go to the bookstore, a used book is a rare jewel to find. On the rare occasion that I have taken some of my books to buy-back...I find that they update editions so often due to new medical information, so usually they aren't worth anything (NEW BOOKS!!!!!). It's a conspiracy I tell ya! |
I read somewhere that the college textbook industry is about $9 Billion in sales each year.
|
I just spent $465.55 in total for all my books.
I want to cry. |
Thank goodness for my friends! I am borrowing 3 of my 4 books for this semester, so the other book will only cost about $100.
|
I spent about $300 but took one back. I still need to buy a shit load of supplies.

Human Sexuality- 50.00
Astronomy-170.00 Political science-80.00 Sociology-70.00 geograpy-95.00 Bowling-0.00 Astronomy lab-20.00 Grand total $485.00 |
Talked to our son last night and he reported that when all of his books are finally available, they will be over $500 -- $300 of which are for a single course.
PET PEEVE! Who the heck to the profs think they have in their classes. A bunch of little rich kids? When I taught a college course, we didn't use a book. The course curriculum came from my experience and participation in class of working professional guests who were kind enough to share their time and knowledge. I know that's not always possible -- but JEEZ, college is expensive enough without getting hammered by egocentric professors who either use their own books or their friends. OK, now I'm off on a tangent with that last sentence. Sorry. End of rant. |

I paid $120 for one of my texts - a used Macro book. Now granted, my professors do have a bunch of spoiled little rich kids in their classes, but still - 60% of my book costs were for 3 classes. One of my classes was supposed to be taught almost entirely using web-based material - we only had to drop $90 on books. |
If you're a girl you could always strip and make some extra money on the side for books.
-Rudey --If you're a guy, you can be their talent manager. |
I don't know how much my books are yet because I'm not at school and textbook prices are not posted on the bookstore website.
But I looked at the course outline: For my English Lit. class I have 8 books to buy For my psych class, just one text book (but psych books are always ridiculously expensive) And for my physiology class the text has not been determined. |
to the top

RAT BASTARDS. This was my first book-selling back experience and now I miss my old school. :( |
i sold my books back and got $60. one of my books was worth $1.00. yipee, i get to buy a drink!
what sucked was the guy in front of me got $110. i already bought my books for next semester. about $300. |
My books for next semester will be about $185 to $250 (depending of if they are new or used)oh btw I go a CC for this semester.
Christia |
I learned not to buy the books until you are absolutely sure that you'll need them. I bought three books I didn't even OPEN. Of course, since they're in my field, I'll probably keep them. The course packets were an even bigger waste.
