Hey ladies!! Work week is in full swing here at UGA. We are so going to rock rush this year! I know girls are going to be dying to pledge DG. The past 2 days, we've done a mock rush of Rounds 1 and 2 with Alpha Delta Pi. They are such sweet girls. Round 2 was fun because it was house tours and we got to see their house. Its beautiful, but they have 6 girl rooms with only one computer and TV per room!!! How horrible!! I think our house is gonna be a big selling point for PNMs. Well, I just wanted to let you all know how it is going. WE have a full mock rush with Parents and Alums tomorrow afternoon, one more day of work week, a day off Tuesday and Rush starts WEDNESDAY!!!!

Today we did a mock rush of rounds one and two and preformed the skit for Parents and Alums. It went so well! It was interesting talking to the alumni. I met one who is from a town 20 minutes from my hometown. Turns out, My 8th grade gifted teacher is a DG! I didn't even know of ANY DGs in my hometown!

We have around 25 legacies coming through Rush this week! One girl is a Triple UGA DG Legacy. Plus, there are tons of girls with influences- one has 13 DG INFLUENCES! I guess that puts her with the legacies!

Tomorrow is the last full day of work week. We're going to work on Prefs a good bit. We're doing the Lei ceremony :D . Then Tuesday is our Day to get beautiful and Round 1 starts Wednesday!

I'm so excited about Bid Day. My favorite local band, Legend Has It is playing!!!! They rarely do private shows, so this is a HUGE deal.

Today was the last day of work week and we look great!! We worked really hard on Prefs today. I love Prefs. I love looking around the room while singing "Now and Forever" and seeing all my sisters. Tomorrow is our free day to get manicures and such and just relax because 5 AM comes early Wednesday. I seriously think we are going to rock rush! We found out today that each party will have 70 PNMs, which is good because that means only a few girls will have to double rush. Quota is 62- and I swear, we're going to get it! When Panhell came to read the rules yesterday, they said there were 1249 PNMs. Wow. That number may increase tonight.

eee! I'm excited about my first rush!

WOW! It's just wild to me to hear that UGA has 25 legacies already. I was a freshman at FSU when you all colonized - some of the Gamma Mu's went up for installation. I bet you know that your house was DG's very first $1 million dollar chapter house. That was in 1968 when a million actually meant a lot of money!

Tomorrow is the big day!

Round one begins at 8 AM tomorrow...of course, I'll be up at 5:30 for my shower:eek:

We are singing "Come Right In", "I wanna Be a DG" and "Boom Boom Boom" for the girls when they enter and then we just talk to them in our rotation groups. I'll keep ya'll posted!

Get Excited!

Well, round one is over! It was exhausting, yet fun. We met a lot of great girls. I have 2 Rush crushes- Nicole and Hatty. I really hope they come back. A Girl I've known since I was 5 also went through and everyone who met her loves her. Yay!! So exciting. House Tours are tomorrow. We are wearing black pants/skirts/capris with solid bright colored shirts. For Round one we wore solid red, white, and blue dresses.

Some fishy stuff has taken place, but I'd rather wait until Bid Day to tell it, in case anyone from UGA reads GC(I think I'm one of the few though).

Well, I'm exhausted and its only 6:30! As much as I want to go across and mee the Delta Sigma Phi boys(our new neighbors!), I think I'm staying in and turning in early!

So exciting!!! Keep us posted!

And that little something would be that we had the HIGHEST return rate for pref on campus!!! We expected 60 girls per party (3 parties)...

We got ONE HUNDRED per party!

I'm curious to hear about the legacies? Do they like DG or what? You know sometimes they get on that "I'm a legacy, but you can still talk to me" high horse! FILL US IN!

Yay Laura! Hearing your story is so inspirational for me (and my chapter, who I report it too!) since we will be going through our first rush too, but later in Sept. Our campus isn't a huge Greek Campus, but we are still thrilled! I can't wait to hear how it ends!

Sorry I didn't update ya'll yesterday. I've been averaging aroun 5 and a half hours of sleep per night, and while thats more than some of my sisters have gotten, by the time I'm through with thr roound for the day, I'm dead tired.

Yesterday was the house tour round. There were 12 parties with 60-70 each. We had 855 of 1250 return. There were about 30 that dropped out of Rush after Round 1(which i think is stupid!) and we cut a couple.

I got mostly pretty good girls during the tours. They were nice and asked questions. Our house is a big selling point. It is the 3rd largest sorority house and was actually built to be a sorority house, instead of being a renovated mansion. Some of the houses have 5 and 6 girl rooms, while we have mostly 2 girl rooms and eight 3 girl rooms.

All of my rush crushes were back for house tours. Yay!!

MS took FOREVER. Thats all I have to say about that.


Today was skit round. It was 6 parties, about 30 minutes a piece. We had over 600 girls return, which is good and bad(I'll explain later).

I got the Spawns of Satan the 2nd party. These girls(they were friends...went to the same high school) were absolutely horrid. They were rude and disrespectful, laughed at our house and talked only to each other and not to me. THey blatantly ignored me. I bumped them to a sister and they upset her so much, s he was crying after the party. Needless to say, they were cut, no arguments at all.

One of my rush crushes didn't come back today, but the other 2 did, plus the girl I've been friends with since I was 5. Good stuff.

MS, once again took a long time- 3 hours. I(and many, many other sisters) had a problem with our MS. we all felt we weren't being selective enough. Girls that were pulled to be cut 1st and 2nd round were back 3rd round. Just not good! We want quality over quantity!

Tomorrow is Prefs. I'm hoping to get to Pref my rush crushes!

ok ladies, Prefs were today! We had 3 wonderful, albeit it large, parties. FOr the 1st and 3rd parties, I had Rush Crushes. The 2nd party, I double preffed 2 girls I'd never talked to.

We are hoping for quota- but 62 is a lot! I know when we were picking out our ideal pledge class, I could not think of 62 girls that I had met and gotten to know well enough. However, I trust my sisters.

Tomorrow is Bid day!! The girls get their bids at 5:30...I should know the #'s tomorrow morning. I'll post when I get out of class at 11...I can't believe school is starting!

Crossing my fingers that you have found Quota plus! I'm sooo glad everything went well for the chapter! YAY for Bid Day!

So, we didn't get quota, or anywhere near it actually. But we did get 12(or 13?) really, really great girls. And we're starting COB next week. Rush was awful here. Huge houses like ADPi and AOPi had to snap bid, and they rarely do. I don't see how we Preffed over 200 girls and only got 11...and then 3 from snap bid(so that makes it 14...sorry, can't count!).

But we had a KICK ASS Bid Day party! We picked our girls up and brought them to the house where they were showered with gifts. Then after pictures, the band started. It was a band called "Legend Has It"...they are HUGE here in Athens and in other college towns. They are a punk/ska cover group, which is refreshing in a town that loves DMB(who I HATE!). They are my favorite local band. PSPGirl , they are playing in Auburn soon, you definately need to check it out!! Some of us had them sign our bid day shirts and we got our pictures taken with them. 5 hot boys....yum. :D

So, thats it for me! Rush is over, but COB is in full swing. Several girls we called for snap bids said they were interested in COB. And the Greek advisor here at UGA is totally on our side...she's a DG!

Although you didn't make quota, it sounds like you got some great girls and had a fun Bid Day. Good luck with COB and def. keep us posted as to how COB turns out!

UGAnchora I am proud of you gals and know you worked your butts off and I know COB will be awesome but I am just so confused about how 200 girls preffed us and we ended up with 14? Not that the 14 aren't wonderful I guess I'm just confused about how the system works down there. How did the other sororities fair? I am honestly thinking bid matching got screw up some how. What does anyone else think/know?

Good job, UGAnchora! I'm sure they women that we got are awesome! You had hinted to something stinking a little earlier in your thread, so I'm curious to see what was going on if you want to PM. I'm taking it to understand that there were several girls who didn't receive bids because of they way you talked about COB...any details would be appreciated!

Well, we're finished with COB!

We had a luau last Thursday, a craft party this Tuesday and a Pizza/VMA Party tonight.

We're extending 27 bids....

If all 27 accept, that brings our pledge class to 43 girls!!

I should know tonight how many girls accepted their bids, so I will let y'all know!

AS of 10:40 PM, we have 8 definate Accepted bids, and 12-15 "Maybes"(have to think about it, talk to parents, yada yada yada).

so, the definate 8 girls brings our pledge class to 24....thats double the original, so we met our goal of doubling our pledge class within 2 weeks!

Congratulations to the UGA chapter, that's awesome! I knew y'all could do it!

Ok, I'm crashin' your board! I'm really glad that y'all are sharing your rush experience with everyone -- it's so nice to see how a chapter handles the freakish things that happen during rush!

So, here's to hoping that those "maybes" become "hell yeahs!" There's nothing better than a SUPER successful COB event (actually, by looking at the numbers, you're already there! :))

Now, if you don't mind my asking (I'm just curious) -- once you get this year's recruits as happy DG sisters, are you going to attempt another COB round? If so, when would it be? Or have you not even thought that far yet.

"We Rock!" -- I'm not sure you realized how appropriate this title was when you wrote it, but I don't think anyone can question you now.

We'll probably do a round of COB in the spring. We did last year when our original fall pledge class was 42 and got 8 girls through COB.

Just wondering how COB is going - you girls hang in there - you have worked so hard and you have the support of all of Delta Gamma - don't be afraid to ask for help from Nationals and beyond. ITB

Are pledge class is now 22...3 girls dropped out. But we're pretty happy!! We'll do a round of COB in the spring; the new girls can talk up their friends the rest of this semester and we'll get them!

I've had a hellish month with work and have finally had time to read your whole rush thread UGAnchora. I just wanted to say that I am so proud of y'all for the amazing job you did in doubling your pledge class. It is so weird what happened between prefs and bid day, but that doesn't matter anymore. What's important is the quality girls you got (I saw all the beautiful, happy smiling faces in your bid day pics online!) and making them feel welcome and loved. Yay for DELTA IOTA and GO DAWGS!!!
