Arm Hair
Do you shave or wax it?
I don't and I haven't, but I've been thinking about it. My hair is blonde so it's not that noticeable, but it's there and I would rather it be smooth. However, I'm not sure it's worth the extra effort, another "to do" on my list. What are your thoughts? |
Ouch is my first thought. I also have blonde arm hair and it's not really too noticable. I personally wouldn't wax it because that's just one more thing to add to the list. Man, sometimes it sucks to be a female and worry about all these silly things.
Good luck on whatever you decide to do! |
i would leave it alone just due to the fact that once you start it, you always have to keep it up!!
good luck |
If it's blond and no one notices, why really bother?
I mean to each his own, but it seems like unnecessary pain. For me at least, the skin on my arms is pretty senstive. I'd rather have a bit of peach fuzz on them than huge red blotches and ingrown hairs that would result from waxing . :p |
I've never heard of anyone waxing or shaving arm hair. Is this common?
|
I wax my arm hair. I just feel like it's a little excessive and I feel better when I do wax it so I do it. No big deal.
|
There are women I know of southern European descent who have very dark body hair in general and a few of them wax their arms. One girl I knew even got electrolysis...It's a matter of one's level of personal comfort...
|
My sister waxes her arms. They really are very smooth that way!
My arm hair is almost unnoticable so I don't. But if it were black I think I would! |
OMG, Damn, dont you know there is a reason you have hair in certain places:(
Women Are So Vane!!!!!!!!!!!!! . Why not check into this and see why! Yall are to funny!:D But a guy thing!:) |
I wouldn't wax it...ouch and double ouch. Not to mention that your arm isn't used to shaving (like your legs) and may be a little more sensitive...therefore waxing might give you a bad irritation rash.
My sister hates her arm hair too and so she bleaches it. I use an electric razor on my legs every now and then like when I don't have time to shave, but know I'm going to be wearing shorts or something. I like it cuz it's fast and it gets the hair pretty close to the skin. You could try that on your arms which might work better....much better than waxing anyways!!!!:D |
I might not know much, but this is one subject I do know about! :p I've never tried waxing my arms because I'm a big wuss when it comes to pain and having to pay someone to rip hair off my body, but I have tried that hair bleach for body hair and I'm here to tell you don't even think about it unless you want the hair on your arms to go from dark to orange. Not pretty. Those dipilatories (sp?) like Nair work very well, but in recent years I've just gotten lazy and I've started shaving my arms instead. I really like the feel of smooth arms (once you get used to it, you will not go back!), but you really have to be careful with the razor so you don't cut your elbows. My advice is to go with the Nair...you can get the kind that smells pretty good nowadays and you don't run the risk of severing a vein.
*edited to add*Electric razors are wonderful! If you don't want to Nair, try that. I also know women who use electric razors on their faces. |
I feel the same way shopgirl, I love the feeling of smooth arms and even though my hair is blonde, I totally want to wax my arms...I tried the stuff you do yourself (like three different kinds) and they all hurt!! So I want someone to do it for me...but as I am going broke paying for everything for rush, I am going to hold off for a while!!
OMG I just realized I have over 300 posts (ok 308 but still!) |

I don't really need to spend the money either. And since my hair is blonde, I'll probably just leave it alone. Thanks for your replies! TOM... LOL!!! I know, women can be pretty silly.;) |

About Nair
My ex had a semi-harry back and because he lifted weights he would shave everywhere but of course couldn't reach his back. Well he ordered all that stupid crap like epil stop and spray and even Nads....didn't work. So I went out and picked him up a bottle of Nair....
SO GROSS. He laid on his stomach on our bed and i put that stinky, goopy pink stuff on and left it there for like a minute or so. Then I took a warm wash cloth and wiped up clumps of hair. I about GAGED. Plus he had some sweat pimples and the stuff was so strong they started bleeding  Then...I was brilliant and decided to try it on my bikini line.... OH DO NOT GO THERE! It burned my skin so bad! I couldn't touch that area with a razor for like a week cuz it hurt. So,proof shows, in my two cases, that it does work. |
I have been waxing my arms since the fifth grade b/c I felt like a guy b/c though I didn't have a lot of arm hair, the hair that I did have was very dark. Therefore I felt like a man and I hated it. I don't even know if my hair grows back anymore since it's been ripped out millions of times. I don't remember what it looks like or feels like to have hair on my arms either. I dunno, I think that'd be weird! :)

I can't believe I'm posting this...
I threw shot put for so long that I have no hair for a few inches above my right wrist from taping it. The few hairs that do grow in are gross...so I shave my arms. I've been doing it since like freshman year...every couple weeks. I have blonde hair everywhere but that wrist so it isn't very noticeable...I just hate body hair, it creeps me out. |
Despite my Southern European heritage (well, my mother is of Southern European descent), I lucked out in the body hair department... what arm hair I have is black although so baby fine as to be invisible, so I've never worried about it.
My roommate last year had her arms waxed whenever she went for a bikini wax, they looked really good. |

to do it. My hair is fine and blonde, but I notice it. And I really like that clean look. It looks so smooth and polished. Eh...I doubt I'll be doing it. But it's been fun chatting about it.:D |
I Nair mine. I used to DIY-wax, and I didn't think it hurt that bad, but Nair is just easier.
I second the not using it on your bikini line. I will never make that mistake again! |
I never knew that women shaved, waxed, or naired their arms. I have never even heard of it. I knew a few women who bleached their arm hair to lighten the dark color, but they didn't completely remove it. I guess i am lucky that I have very light body hair. :)

Maybe it's just me but what would the regrowth look like if you shaved your arms? Wouldn't it get stubbly???
