For my bid day we got Phi Mu t-shirts, blue or white Phi Mu stadium cups, little lions with Phi Mu scarves on them, a fabric bookmark with our creed on it, some pink carnations, and um....a keychain I believe. Last year our girls got adorable Phi Mu totebags with a bunch of Phi Mu stuff in them, they have Phi Mu written out in bright pink script letters with stars all around it. I ended up buying one at our auction end of the year b/c I liked it so much!!! :D |
The day I accepted my bid, I got a card from the chapter, a letter from my pledge mom and a million hugs from the girls who came to extend it to me (I was an open rush gal) then over the next week, one sister made little "welcome to AGD" signs for my door and when I finally got my big (2 weeks after I accepted, long story) my big gave me letters and a car sticker. When I held over to be w/a bigger class I got red, buff, and green balloons and a red and a buff rose and a bid day t-shirt
|
Wow, you all got some pretty cool stuff. :)
On Bid Day, I got a black tote bag with black and white plaid letters on it, my "Delta Zeta and You" book (which is missing...:( ), a notepad with a cute turtle on it, a DZ pen, and my very first letter shirt. We had a sleepover at the house that night, and I wore my new shirt home the next day to show my parents because I was so proud of it. :D In the weeks that followed, we also got "Turtle Tot" gifts from the actives, which were things like DZ cups, car window decals, notepads, and picture frames. We were showered with gifts all the time--but we liked spoiling our new members like that. |
waaaay back then....
I got a balloon bouquet, a poster for my door, a shirt, a sailor hat with my name on it, a poem and I think a few other little trinkets...
|
When I went through we only got out bid day shirt, but now the new members get cute stuff. We got violets from our pledge mom at initiation. We got all our Sigma Kappa stuff (picture frames, cups, stickers) from our big Sis.
|
I got a star shaped balloon with my name on it, a Congratulations poster, a KLP picture frame, a blue tealight holder with my name on it in silver glitter, a scented tealight in it and a bouquet of Tootsie Roll pops.
|
On Bid Day we got tee shirts and a bunch of little things -- stickers, a cup, pens, a keychain, I forget the rest.
When I found out who my big was, she gave me a stuffed dolphin. :) We also get tons of presents from our moms right before initiation. I got a Tri Delta champagne glass (I mean . . . juice glass ;) ) with a bottle of sparkling grape juice, a little stuffed dolphin, a notepad, a framed copy of our family poem (everybody gets these, although the poems are different), a candy bowl with a bunch of candy in it, and more -- I can't even remember half of the stuff. |
My local gave us letter shirts in our colors when we were initiated.
When we were initiated into AEPhi, we got pin boxes with the AEPhi crest. We generally gave out t-shirts and random AEPhi stuff (pencils, cups, stickers, etc) as bid day gifts. Those who joined via COB usually got whatever we'd given the new member class from the previous formal rush. And we always did door decorations. My freshman year, I roomed with an AXO and a Theta. It looked like a package of construction paper had exploded outside our door :) |
The day I got my I accepted my bid I got a rose and then when I was initiated I got a rose. Also, that day I got a really old steel plate that was used to print our crest on the new member books from the 20s. It is really cool and is the older crest that had a couple of differences on it.
|
Bid day I got: bid day shirt, key chain, stadium cup, pen and pencil, and a flower...I think that was everything...my chapter generally sticks around those same things for the bid day bags every year...
|
Hey-
I got a shirt and a really cool cup with some stuff in it. It was really nice ... and then later on I got a bag full of stuff like a calender, lip gloss, candy, candle, etc ... It was all really nice! Mucho Greek Love, Angie |
Yeah, we just got our bid day shirts, a carnation, and some candy on Bid Day.
However, each week after that we'd have a Pal Paw who would give us a gift and hang out with us. They could be different things...I got a nifty hand-made poster with letters on it, a pink jar candle with "Phi Mu Loves Jenn" spelled out on the side, a set of notecards, and a picture frame with "Love...Honor...Truth...Phi Mu" painted around the edges. Then, the week of revealing, we'd get different things from our big...the first day was like spa day, with baskets of goodies; then we all got stuffed lions, pink plants, and letters on the day of revealing. The last week of the pledge period, we'd get more presents from our bigs...mine made me a beautiful badge box and a scrapbook. Also, we each had a mail bag on the wall outside the chapter room. Throughout the new member period, sisters would leave cute, artsy notes with their numbers and messages like, "Phi Mu loves you and so do I!" I still have all of them. They were a great little reminder that all of our new sisters loved us. |
Lets see, I didnt do formal recruitement so I didn't get anything for bid day. . .
But when I found out who my big was. . . I got a photo album, journal, sparkly pen, twizzlers, rose, and a whole bunch of other stuff. And on initiation night, I got my first letter shirt, a key ring, candles, water bottle, candy, another photo album, balloon, notepads, a huge basket, and some more things that I can't really remember from my big :D |
I didn't have a bid day cause I joined through COB. But for my sponsor rev my Mom gave me a keychain, a tee shirt, an incense burner with stars and crescents on it, a package of Trident gum, and an Angel birthstone pin for March (that's when my rev was). For initiation I got my jersey!
|
the only thing we give on bid day is a balloon and the bid day shirt. but thats okay, because our new members get totally spoiled during big/little week and at initiation.
|
My bag of goodies contained:
*Stationery *checkbook cover *sticker *static sticker *2 shirts (a spring 2004 one and one of the leftovers from fall) All availible from greek101 or greekgear ;) |
In mine was a poem that everyone in my chapter gets on Bid Day (even though I was COBed), the new member jersey, a coffee mug that someone decorated with paint pens, a picture frame, and a little candle.
|
I was in the first pledge class for my chapter, and we just got our bid day shirt. Now the new girls get huge baskets full of handmade stuff and other various things. They can completely make their rooms scarlet and olive after bid day :)

I got... a carbon copy of the bid I signed!!
|
More D Phi E stuff than you can shake a stick at. Pens, notepads, stickers, t-shirt, keychain, a flower pot with a cute little plant, cups...it was all in a huge basket. It was really nice...
|
Way back (haha, Fall 02) when I was a new member my chapter just did carnations for a Bid Day gift. Then for mom/daughter revealing I got a framed copy of our family poem, a rush tee from the previous fall, pen, pencil, candy jar, and probably something else...then the night of initiation I got a letter sweatshirt, our chapter jacket, a picture frame, and again proably more stuff, as well as more carnations and a keychain from the chapter.
Now our chapter gives the new girls one or two of our chapter letter shirts on Bid Day, then all the other standard presents. :D |
We all got Bid day t-shirts and a gift bag that had a 32 oz plastic mug, pens, plastic picture frame, pad of sticky notes and a key chain. I think the house just orders a certain number of goodie bags from the Key Source and has some extras for any informals we may get through COB.
|
On my "bid day" (I was informal) I got a shirt, a rose, some rose stickers and a notepad. My chapter now gives out (along with other little stuff like what I got changes every semester really) a CD that each of the sisters has chosen a song that reminds them of Phi Sig for whatever reason and we decorate it with letters and the name of every active sister. It's really cool because as their NM period goes on they will ask you who chose what songs and why and they hear neat stories about the actives' memories.
|
On bid day (we call it pick-up night for some reason) we all just got our pick-up shirts. We also have a photographer come and do pictures of the whole house and then of each class (seniors, juniors, sophomores, and new members) so you can order those. We have a interest group within the house that makes little gifts for the girls all during their new member period - example: this semester, that IG made them picture frames, little tupperware containers, and candle holders.
We also get showered with gifts (shirts, sweatshirts, blankets, photo albums, frames, you name it) at big sis pick-up and initiation. :) |
For my bid day I got bid day shirt, a frame with Pi Beta Phi on it. And a Pi Phi survival baggie. I don't remember all that was in it but it was like a puzzle piece b/c you make the chapter unique. smarties b/c you're smart and little things like that. If any new member educators want what was in it I can let you know. Just PM me.
Also for those people who COB'ed and didn't get anything, we always give COB girls little gifts. The NME has something and then we just give them a bunch of stuff that is left over from socials/recruitment like t-shirts and such, b/c we ALWAYS have extras. Suzi |
I joined a colony so I didn't get the bid day experience, but we gave our girls a tote bag, bid day shirt, stadium cup, pens, pencils, notepads, letter sticker for their car, and an ID holder!
|
A cold beer.
|
When I became a brother of APO, I ain't get ISHT!
When I became an Alpha.....I got: My history book and pin (of course), Alpha umbrella, set of ten note cards and a bookmark, a ceramic figurine, a picture of King Tut, three t-shirts, alpha cups, a leather keychain, a coolie (to put cold beverages in), and a lapel pin. Those were right after initiation, from my chapter brothers. My mom (DST) got me a Sphinx figurine and a Pharaoh's head figurine, both were black and gold. I got those that night. Over the next week, I got Alpha socks (!) and another keychain from a friend out west, the "Fraternity Row" print from a Delta friend in the midwest, and from my Delta and (at the time soon-to-be) Zeta friends -- a long sleeved t-shirt, short sleeved t-shirt, and a coaches jacket -- yes, the adgreek.com special. :D Wow, I got a lot of stuff. |
I received a jersey with my letters on it, and a sports bottle with my letters and a rose on it. At the time, only one store in the country (I think) carried anything for our sorority, so we were grateful for anything :)
Edited to Add: I received these items when I became an official sister. |
I recieved my letter shirt (after initiation of course) and my paddle from my Big. It's hard being a local, you can't get all the cute stuff premade :p
When I recieved my Little, she got from me: - tie-dye letter shirt (I had a matching one :D) - all sorts of lamb figurines - a Lambda bowing pin ;) - Big/Little paddle |
The day I crossed, I received: a lanyard, license plate frame, duffle bag, skull cap, umbrella, keychain, socks (me too Phrat--they are comfy though)
Within the next month or so, I received alot of gifts from sorors(I love them! http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-022.gif): jacket, 2 t-shirts, hockey jersey, 2 totebags, briefcase, purse, scrapbook, house slippers , another license frame, 2 more keychains, stuffed froggy, froggy bracelet, about 6 lapel pins, 2 photo albums, stationary and pens, a pink and green clock, a picture frame, framed copy of our national hymn, a few AKA wall hangers and other crafts, lipstick case, AKA stamps and ink pad http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-013.gif, and a CD with AKA chants and songs. I know I'm forgetting something, but that's enough. |
I got a really big bill alas . . ..
|
A paddle and a set of letters.
|
A whole lot of candy for sure. And candles... TONS of candles. I don't know why but I was coming home with one every week.
As the semester progressed, I would get a gift every week. License plate frame, stickers, notepads, pens, etc. I didn't get an actual set of letters until initiation. My big got creative though. I got a little doorhanger, picture frames, a teacup and saucer (???), a badge box, photo album, family drink, lots of little boxes and knick knacks, a lavieler (sp), and more candy... even though I can't have it... |
Wow ya'll sound spoiled. I got a bid day shirt and small teddy bear, a painted mug, a rose, and some ballons, and now we are cheaper but I intend to change that. I got most of myself doing big/lil week.
