Awestruck by an AKA

So i met the girl of my dreams during the evening rush hour. I was waiting in line so that my friend could buy her farecard for the metro and then I see this awesome beautiful woman in front of us. She was about 5'9" slender with curves awesome milk chocolately (is this a word) skin tone, and awesome smile. So I admire her from a far and then she asks in the slightest southern accent if I know how to use the machine. I help her with the farecard machine and I notice she has a pink and green umbrella. Red flag goes up, so I ask if shes a member of AKA and she says yes, and I tell her im in a fraternity her farecard comes out she thanks me for my help and she goes down the long escalator. Five minutes late my intern friend and I go down the escalator and shes on the platform. Our eyes meet she smiles and I smile back and she comes over and thanks me for my help with the farecard machine. I say no prob, but my train comes!!! I dont want to ditch my intern friend so we get on the train, the awesome girl and I exchange good byes and now I probably wont see her again.

I just thought I would share my story.

Dang, playa

You could have done a quick hand action and given her a card w/your number.
:D

Honeykiss1974 07-23-2003 11:25 AM

Well, I hope you find her. Who knows, maybe she is on GC? ;)

If you have time, get to a Kinko's or a stationery store, buy some cards, and just print your number clearly on them. If you had more time, I would suggest having them made. If there's a will, there's a way.

Have you seen that movie, "On The Line," featuring Lance from N'Sync? If so, go for the gold. She could be the woman of your dreams. If that's too extreme, take ST's advice and get some cards made immediately. You never know when you may need them! ;) :D

Dag...although I feel what you are saying, I don't know how apt I would be if some guy came up to me and handed me a card pre-printed with his personal info. I would be thinking, "Now how often does he do this?" I could see if it were a business card...but personal? Maybe that's just me!

Naah, not pre-printed.:p
He can just hand-print his name and phone #s on there. This is a young man we're talking about. A bit classier than just scribbling it on a piece of paper, IMO.:D

Why was I reading this entire post feeling like I wanted to cry? I'm a sucker for romance and stuff like that. I really hope you see her again. Who knows what will happen. Too bad you weren't chewing Dentyne Ice gum like on the commercial. You could have blown your minty fresh breath on the window and wrote your phone number down.

FYI you can get business or personal cards professionally printer for free on vistaprint.com. I got some done when I was Pres. of NPHC at my undergrad. All you have to pay for is shipping, for regular shipping its only like 5 bucks.

The cards are very nice, very professional and the only advertising on them for vistaprint is the that the website vistaprint.com is on the back in small print.

I would recommend them. You get 250 free.

LOL LOL at Dentyne Ice! I had a visual

I too am an undercover romantic, so I fell for you guy! But stranger things have happened when it comes to love so maybe you'll see her again. Good Luck1

Or you could use the Pulse here at GW. You can get 500 good business cards for $20

Eclipse 07-23-2003 04:14 PM

Cute story....If you happen to meet her again, make sure the 2 of you watch Serendipity together. It's a cute romantic comedy in the same vein as Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail and talks about the fate that goes along with true love. I don't remember it from the movies, but the hubby and I watched it on cable the other night.

MattUMASSD 07-23-2003 04:24 PM

ive seen serendipity, and my story sounds like that in a way.

"Calling cards" used to be standard "good behavior" in the days when most people didn't have business cards. I remember reading an etiquette book for co-eds from the 50s that urged the new female college student to have personalized, engraved calling cards printed up before she went away to school.

I also have business cards with only personal information - I've been consulting for a while so I don't give out business cards to nonbusiness contacts...All one needs is my name and cell number for networking purposes...you can get all the other contact info later after thorough screening ;)
