The Good, Bad and ugly of GC
Post your good, bad and ugly of GC. Just do not get too out of hand. No bashing of names....
|
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I miss the really interesting threads we used to have on here. I've been on for almost 2 years now and it just seems like GC as a whole has changed, especially with all of the closed threads and the amount of people who get flamed for sharing their honest opinions.
|
Yea, I miss those kinds of posts too. I'm really sick and tired of the "Do you watch this T.V. show? threads. It's like do some people not do anything besides post on GC and watch TV?
It just seems like GC isn't hardly as interesting as it once was. |
I'm bored of the
-I'm freaking out -I'm really freaking out -I'm extra really freaking out threads. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
Agreed...
I like our GC AIM chats...those get pretty crazy..alot different than the threads i think ;) |
I miss all the unusual posts... like "most unusual place to have sex" and stuff liek that.
I too am sick of the tv show threads. I think we need a separate forum for tv shows. |
so how can GC be spiced up again?
|

Maybe starting up some "new for 2003" "most unusual ____" topics would help - being sure to keep everything civil so they don't get locked and posts don't get deleted. Or we could just revive Gamma Chi... <grinning, ducking, and running :D > |

We could start a thread of what everyone would like to see on GC this year...
get some ideas...we need to just let loose and get silly let the silliness begin...............................NOW! :p |
It seems like everyone complains that GC has lost it's "spice" and variety, but half the posts are about sex and getting drunk.
When we do talk about interesting issues, people get in an uproar and start personal attacks. NEWSFLASH: This is what GC used to be...that's partially why it was interesting. So...we either want drama and bickering or semi-peaceful discussions. I don't think it works both ways. |

You talk like that's a bad thing! :D |
hahah must be a Downriver thing!
ps.... where in Wy do you live cuz I'm workin there right now! |

I'd much rather have talks about sex and drinking with the added drama, than I would with these stupid "have you watched ths ________ <== insert stupid tv show."
When people start getting serious in a debate it usually adds more feeling and emotion so it tends to get more personal at times. And to be honest, I think the last few debates on religion and race or whatever have actually been quite decent. |
I like the race and religion debates too.
I think the message board has just "gone downhill" for those of you who have been here for a while because a lot of the posts that seemed "new and exciting" at the time have been done about six different times since. |
I think there are very few interesting things to read. I get sick of seeing all the posts about sex and drinking. Surely there's something else to talk about!!!

Yeah, the "I'm so drunk" threads don't really interest me, so I usually skip over them. If someone else is interested, "to each their own".
a TV show/movies forum might be a good forum? |

I miss a lot of the people.:( Maybe everyone has aged a bit too, and you know how BORING older people are!;) |
yup...
you know how that is.
anyone for a little round robin on us foreign policy? anyone else have a "grown up" topic? :) |
Well, Arya and Lifesaver have been trying to liven things up (OMG, Life - does our junk smell? ) - Arya - well - he has some interesting posts....
Maybe because it's summer, and things are mellow (here in Colorado it was 108 yesterday, hotter today (all time records)) - so I haven't been all that creative, along with other "life" issues... |
Hmmm kay
You all don't like: -topics related to alcohol -topics related to sex -topics related to tv -debates, especially those related to race or politics -frivolous topics -serious topics -survey type of topics -drama -peace ....then what do you like? If you don't like the above why don't you post threads about things that YOU would like to discuss, i'm sure people will reply. |
There used to be a lot of interesting posts on here but maybe everything was covered at one point? I swear there is a topic for everything in this forum.
|
I agree with damasa. OMG did I just say that?
Judging from some of the isht in Chit Chat, I think it's safe to say that some people need to get a friggin' life. |
I just wanted to say I like reality TV. I don't care if others don't because, mainly, I know they never really gave it a chance to start. I also like topics which others might not consider flippant.
-Rudey --At the end of the day I'm confident enough to say I'm smarter than 99.9% of the people here so I'm doing you all a favor by posting. |

I don't mean to sound bitter...there are still some decent threads (usually the ones that entertain the most debate), but overall I'd like to see more of those. Collin |

Best freakin post of the day, meow!! Die burger punk! Kitso KS 361 points for people other than astroAPhi who can name that movie :D |
I am all for the debate threads. I think GC is the most exciting when we have race/politics/religion, whatever debates. I think Chit Chat was the most exciting when I signed on and found the off color/easily offended don't click here/etc AND prejudism threads right up at the top everyday. I could get into a serious debate then turn right around and lmao at what people said in the next thread.
I think the problem is there are only so many ways you can say one thing. Like for people that have been here for a while, we pretty much know how each other feels about race and stuff. Like I am sure if you see my name in such a thread you can probably recite exactly what I am posting without even reading it. I don't know what a solution would be. We need a new resident psycho I think, lol. That always makes things more fun. Also I don't see much of a problem with the TV threads. If you don't watch the show or don't care, don't click on the thread. I don't really watch many of the shows that people post threads about, but if enough people wanna discuss them then who is anyone to tell them not to? |
The difference to me is people don't "play fair" anymore. I have disagreed with the best of y'all and have given AND received points in a debate. We turn to another thread and it's over and done...new subject. I see more grudge matches and less tolerance for a differing point of view. It was fun when you could take a topic, debate the hell out of it and STILL have an understanding of the other person's point of view. I do like a heated topic, but I'm thinking the readership is getting so young that their frame of reference and their intellectual base has not fully been developed or explored. Now, I think that was the epitome of the velvet glove! I guess I AM getting too old for this.

Does it bother you that I like you soooo much!:D I have been thinking OH GEE, all we need is for "Fred" to see the thread on Paganism and witches and how people are concerned about bible reading sorority girls! LOL! |
