I'm getting married in Sept. 2004
Can you believe it?! He proposed to me on July 2 and I've been smiling ever since. My ring is gorgeous and I was crying and laughing at the same time when I said yes. I'm so excited! Now to get started with planning. Anyone/Everyone HELP!!! I've never planned a wedding before.

Whooohooo!!!! Congrats, cutetiger!!! :D I'm so happy for you!! If you have any wedding questions, ask away! My wedding is about two months away, but I feel like an old pro at this planning thing. It's almost sad that we only get to do this wedding thing once! :p

OHHHHHHHHHHH! CONGRATULATIONS! Just please promise me you won't make your bridesmaids wear anything truly hideous ;) If you're planning a summer wedding you'd better get the church and the hall booked asap!

Congratulations to Cutetiger and Ginger!!!
I just love weddings! I had a blast planning mine, and I did it in only four months. I never wanted a summer wedding, but August just turned out to be the most convenient time. Aside from the season (which wasn't a big deal really), my wedding day was everything I've always dreamed. Erica |
Yay for Cutetiger and Ginger! I hope all goes well with your planning. I'm helping my best friend plan hers and the easiest thing to do is get all the big things out of the way first. Then work on the smaller things, the less you have to do last minute, the better you will feel. :)

I was in your place about 2 years ago! One of the best sources www.weddingchannel.com their boards are the bomb! They helped me SO much with my Las Vegas wedding Congrats! Now tell us 1. about the man 2. decribe the bling bling (yes the rock!) :D |
Another good site The Knot
Don't get scared by all of the items they promote - most are very expensive! But there are city specific boards where you can talk with other brides-to-be and check out vendors in your area. |
Congrats you two!
My wedding advice: ELOPE! |
What she said!

He's a wonderful man! He's got a 4 year old daughter and currently is a truck driver. He's 6'1" and drop dead sexy. :D As for the BLING BLING, www.zales.com is where you need to look. All you have to do is type in the number 14669634. That's what my ring looks like but only mine is a little bigger. Hope this satisfies the questions. ;) |
Your ring is so pretty! You must have been so excited. Was the proposal a surprise?
As for planning, it doesn't have to be completely stressful. Concentrate on how much you love your husband-to-be, and all the little details that make some brides crazy will just seem trivial. Like I said, I only had four months to plan, and I honestly can't imagine what I would do with six months or more. We got engaged in April. We reserved the reception sight (a beautiful small restaurant) in June, and I found my dress in June, too. I tried on a few dresses in May, and the woman at the Bridal Shop scared me to death! She was like, "You're getting married in August!! You needed to get your dress months ago!" From her reaction, I feared that I would be going down the aisle in the buff:eek: When I found my dream dress (after only two other shops), the seamstress wouldn't make appointments for my fittings until July anyway. She said that doing fittings any earlier than six weeks before the wedding often means more work in the long run since many brides lose weight before the big day, whether they mean to or not. Our wedding was small, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Because we only had 90 guests, I got to have fun with cute little detials. For example, my husband (then fiance) and I baked little loaves of wheat bread for each guest to take home. They were wrapped in linen and tied with ribbon and little notes of thanks. My bridesmaids and I made paper daisies from crepe paper (Martha Stewart Weddings, Summer 2001), and each flower had a little card with a guest's name tied to the stem. Then, the flowers were tucked into the wrapped cloth napkins at each place setting. It was details like these that made wedding planning so much fun for me!! It also helped that everything was done by a friend or family member, so I didn't have to deal with a lot of professionals who aren't personally invested. The pastor was a dear friend of mine. The photographer was my mother-in-law's best friend. Cory's aunt made the cake. My cousin did the flowers. My aunt altered the bridesmaids' dresses. I made my own invitations. Just enjoy yourself. You only get to do it once!! Good luck! Have fun! Erica |
Wedding
Erica,
Sounds like you had a fabulous---and fun wedding!! You are so right in that whatever you choose to do---do it your way and have fun!! What you do for your own wedding is correct---and no one knows if something does happen to turn out differently than planned! Enlisting friends and family to do a portion of the preparations is a great idea!! Saves money and each friend and relative who helps loves having a part of your "big" day!! I just helped prepare my sisters wedding. This was her first nice wedding althought it wasn't her first marriage. Silk flowers can be prepared months ahead of the wedding, are cheaper than fresh---and no one really cares whether you use fresh or silk!! You have a nice keepsake after the wedding too. Find someone who sews! My sister had 5 bridesmaids and a candle-lighter and all dresses were sewn from $100 worth of material! She found just what she wanted on sale! I made 3 dresses and 3 were made by a lady who advertised at a fabric store. We made simple reception table decorations in keeping with the wedding's theme of a country wedding. All the guys were handsome in cowboy hats, tux and boots! There are several sites on the 'Net for crafting everything! Just put wedding in your search and look at all. BTW, my sister found the perfect dress on sale!! No need to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress to be worn once. 36 years ago, I purchased my wedding dress with hopes of my daughter wearing it some day!! Wrong----daughter had a different idea of what her wedding dress would be!!!ha I still have the dress----maybe my granddaughter------ha Wish I were close enough to help prepare another wedding! I loved every minute of the last 4 months preparing my sisters!! She chose yellow for an early July wedding and white and yellow silk daisys! It was lovely! Best wishes on the upcoming wedding! Don't get too stressed on anything and enjoy your day! Your Texas Sis, JudyK |
Congratulations!
