The Sims

Hey everyone,

I'm just curious to know if any of you have played or are playing The Sims on the computer? Everyone I know who is playing it has become addicted to it. And now that I have discovered the cheat code to obtain more money (without working) life in Simsville is so much easier. Too bad real life doesn't work that way. Anyway, I just wanted to know if I'm the only one in GC that is addicted to this game?

btb87 07-15-2003 01:37 PM

Soror,

I have a friend, who along with her 17 and 16 year old sons are totally addicted! I've not learned to play yet - and have not attempted to, although I did tell her that I want to learn how to play - it seems to be an interesting game.

Skeelicious1 07-15-2003 01:49 PM

Guilty.
I was addicted for a while, but I play only occasionally now.

soulfulremix 07-15-2003 02:00 PM

The Sims came with my new computer but the wrapping is still on the case. I just can't get into it, but I have heard about its incredible popularity.

SkeeWee14 07-15-2003 02:22 PM

My "Sim" husband (who I created after my real boyfriend) and I just had a baby boy last night. We got into the vibrating bed and before we could get out the baby cradle appeared. The funny thing is that he came down with a minor case of depression when he saw the baby. Go figure! Today he was killed in a house fire while trying to cook himself some breakfast. Right now I'm mourning his death and looking hard for the insurance policy (lol). I'm absolutely loving this game.

sharpstyle 07-15-2003 02:34 PM

Yes, I was a SIMS addict. I have not played in a few months but it was a everyday thing and I would play for hours and hours. It is fun once you set your neighborhoods up and create all your people.

I'm a recovering Sim addict

!
I WAS addicted to this game. It is so easy to just sit down and play for hours. While, that is fine during the summer, it was not conducive to my work schedule. SO, I uninstalled all versions of the Sims and hide them

ModelSF 07-15-2003 04:04 PM

OMG, when I was in school, whenever I felt I needed a break....it was over. Its easy to lose track of time, especially when you've discovered the money cheat as mentioned above, you get caught up with buying everything, lol. I have all of the expansions except for the newest one (Superstar, I think its called). I haven't played it in awhile but once I get that new expansion, it'll be back to my old addict ways :(

sharpstyle 07-15-2003 04:41 PM

My SIMS were so funny, I had so much drama going on it ridiculous. Did anyone’s SIM get abducted by aliens? My cousin told me about it and it happened to one of my SIMS one time. Have them keep looking in the telescope and eventually they will get beamed into space. They will just disappear for a few hours then fall back to "earth". It was too funny.

One of my SIMS had a really big party and Drew Carey showed up in a limo...LOL...the cops came and tried to make them shut the party down...other SIMS were passed out all over the place.

See, yall gonna' make me fall off the wagon and play tonight ...LOL. :D

SweetestDiva 07-15-2003 05:04 PM

I am completely and totally addicted. But once I found the cheat codes, it kinda took the fun out of it... no reason to work or enhance their skills. I ashamed to say that I had a baby on there too but I used the cheat code to delete it because it would NOT stop crying! :(

I am an addict too. When I first got it, I was playing everyday. Now I havent played in a long time.I mean its been about 6 months.

BUT

I didnt know there was a cheat code for the baby to disappear. It also states in the book, that if you have 13 kids, you can receive welfare. I think Imma try that, you know to see if it works. LOL!

You guys are too funny. What I want to know is there a cheat code to make the baby grow up faster? I am so SICK of this crying baby! What expansion packs do you all have?

Gina1201 07-15-2003 10:47 PM

I have the Deluxe Edition (regular with Living Large), Vacation, Hot Date, and House Party. I usually buy them off of eBay. I just starting playing again because it was becoming a serious problem. :o

mela3 07-15-2003 11:47 PM

I too, am a recovering SIMS addict. I would play it for hours on end. I didn't know about the alien abduction! Oh no. I'm about to relapse!!:D

I get tired of the baby too, usually I just say no when they ask you do you want to have one. I have Deluxe Edition, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, and Unleashed....I need to get to the store and get the new one but I haven't played in awhile.

Munchkin03 07-16-2003 12:58 AM

The Boy bought me the Deluxe Edition for Christmas. I was playing it a lot when we lived together, but last week was the first time I played it since February or so. The Deluxe Edition also contains a "Sims Creator," you can use a picture of yourself to make your own Sim, which we did.

This has inspired me to play some more.

My ex-roommate was addicted to the Sims, I played a few times, but I would have to say that my most interesting Sims moment was when I threw a party and this lady was stuck in my bedroom and kept peeing on the floor. She eventually died... in my house!!!, bless her little Sim heart.

That is too funny. You can intentionally kill other sims too. Get them in the swimming pool and remover the ladder. They wont be able to get out and will eventually drown. Sick huh?

Now that is just way too harsh! Have any of you ever ran into the ghost that haunts the family at night or the aggrivating clown that won't go away?

I'm a board crasher...BUT you can call the "Clown Catchers" on the phone and they will get rid of the clown. Also get rid of the clown pictures, that is how the clown shows up.

**In reality I have a clown phobia so the clown was NO FUN**

Me too!

I owned The Sims Deluxe and about 5 expansion packs. Unfortunately the last one, SUperstar, toatlly killed my enjoyment of the game. It was taking up too much space on my hard drive, I was spending too much time on the internet downloading skins and objects, and I finally just removed the whole thing.

I haven't deleted all my downloads yet though, so who knows...

I think I will wait for Sims 2 to come out before I get involved with all that again. THAT game looks good!

We are taking about the PC version. It is very different from the PS2 version.

I got sick of my sims people. I guess I'm a sims idiot because I couldn't build houses, I couldn't make my people like each other or get them to go to work!! I just uninstalled it and put it up. the box is covered with dust and I'm just not interested in them anymore, athough I may want to purchase Sims Superstar.

You should sell it on e-bay. People buy all kinds of stuff on there, and you might get back at least 15 bucks of what it cost you.

I think you also have to pay a fee to play the Sims online.
