Your Convention will be...

I've been reading posts about different GLO conventions for the past few weeks. I know some people are also interested in planning GC get togethers, so I'd like to start a thread about YOUR convention info, just in case people want to get together. I get really jealous when I see pictures of GC get togethers because it's so easy for some of you to meet.

The last time AGD had a Convention was in 2001 in Atlanta. It was cool because Alpha Delta Pi held theirs exactly a week before ours. Being that it was their 150th and they were founded in Georgia, the streets of Downtown Atlanta flew with ADPi flags!!

Normally we have ours every two years, but Alpha Gamma Delta will not hold Convention this summer as she anticipates her Centennial Celebration next summer, July 17-21, 2004 in Chicago at the Chicago Marriott.

I've already made up my mind that nothing and I mean nothing will stop me from going to Chicago...and I know the majority of my online sisters are going. It'd be really nice to have a big GC Chicago party next summer!

This thread doesn't have to be just for Conventions either. If you're attending a seminar/workshop/conference for a GLO--post it here!

nauadpi 07-15-2003 06:29 AM

Adpi also has its conventions every two years. This summer, only a few weeks ago we had convention in Texas. The big news, that i am looking forward to is that convention in 2005 will be in Phoenix, AZ....So I will finally have no excuse to stop me from being there.

ksig600 07-15-2003 08:22 AM

In a week and a half I leave for Tampa Florida and Kappa Sigma's 64th Grand Conclave. Our next conventiion in 2005 will be in Las Vegas, and word on the street is next summer my chapter will host our Area's Leadership Conference

butterfly2001nc 07-15-2003 09:14 AM

tnx

We have convention every year, usually at the beginning of September. Each year it is in a different place and we have a committee that helps plan it. This year it is in Orlando, Florida.

How cool would it be to have convention in Las Vegas!!!

What are other good places to have convention??

Sistermadly 07-15-2003 10:01 AM

Alpha Phi's convention is in late June, 2004 in Palm Springs, CA. I'm going to start a savings account so I can put money aside each pay period so I can afford to go. :D

Kevin 07-15-2003 10:07 AM

Summer, 2005 in St. Louis.

This year there is a College of Chapters for undergrads. It's in Lexington, VA. I went to it a couple years ago and it was great.

Betarulz! 07-15-2003 10:35 AM

Beta Theta Pi has annual conventions.

The 164th General Convention of Beta Theta Pi will be July 24th-27th in Oxford, Ohio on the campus of Miami University - the place of our founding.

SAI convention

SAI Convention is only 16 days away! But I'm not counting or anything. :D :D :D It's July 31-August 4, in Dearborn, MI. This convention is super special for us because this year marks our 100th birthday!!! :)

I know RedRoseSAI is going, and so is BrownEyedGal, and who else? I hope to meet my GC sisters up there!!

shadokat 07-15-2003 12:07 PM

D Phi E's next convention is in late June 2004 in San Antonio, Texas. I know that Chi Omega's and Tri Delt's is around the same time as well in San Antonio.

CutiePie2000 07-15-2003 12:12 PM

The 2004 Delta Gamma Biennial Convention will be held just outside of Washington, DC, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, in Arlington, Virginia, June 24-28, 2004.

sueali 07-15-2003 12:12 PM

KillarneyRose 07-15-2003 01:32 PM

Delta Zeta's 46th National Convention will be at Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa, Florida, July 9 through 14, 2004.

Since I missed the one last year (the biggie Centennial Celebration), I am bound and determined to attend this next one. Since it takes place at a resort, I think I will try to bring along the husband and kiddies. They could swim, play tennis, etc. while I do DZ stuff :)

I didn't go to the Centennial one either...because I missed my ride! So I want to try and make it to the next one, too.

sairose 07-15-2003 01:59 PM

Oh, me too, RedRoseSAI! I don't have ANY nice clothes...not really...and have been shopping like crazy trying to find some nice things. And so much other stuff to do, too!

I can't believe it's in only 16 days....wow...where'd the time go??? Feels like it's still a long ways off!

I just returned from the Delta SIgma Phi National Convention in Chicago, from July 2-5. This was one of the best times of my life, to meet DSPs from all over the country and hang out with them, handling business about the fraternity.

What really made this special is because the last convention had much controversey, and this convention brought all of us together. We were showed Delta Sig's plan for the future, and I think we will prosper once again.

We have our Convention every 2 years. 01 was in DC, and 05 will be in Austin.

OTW, go to Rush Street or Division/Clark. Those have the good bars.

KappaKittyCat 07-15-2003 02:42 PM

Kappa Kappa Gamma's next convention will be held the last weekend in June, 2004, in Kansas City.

Our convention was at Saddlebrook in 2001. It's nice, but VERY spread out! Try to get a room near the conference halls, NOT out by the fitness center/tennis courts. It's a bit*h to walk to the banquets in formal dresses in 90+ heat and humidity...ICK! Everyone was late to everything trying to catch the golf cart shuttles!LOL

sigmagrrl 07-15-2003 04:18 PM

Sigma Sigma Sigma's next convention is July 9-12th, 2004 at the Fairmont Princess Resort in Scottsdale, AZ! I will be there and also staying a few days after to relax and use the spa facilities!

I hope you'll still come to see me in Arlington, VA, though? ;) :D

Gamma Phi Beta has convention every other year. The next one will be in 2004 in CHICAGO from June 24-27. I am really excited as it is so close to home I will be able to go! :D

We have regional leadership conferences (RLC) in the off years, and I believe a "state day" type of event during Convention years.

MysticCat 07-16-2003 08:59 AM

Our triennial National Assembly begins TODAY in Washington, DC. Wish I could be there -- it should prove to be an interesting, and fun, convention. Oh well.

cntryZTA5 07-17-2003 02:51 AM

Our National Leadership Conference was a few weeks ago in St. Louis.

Our next convention will be held June 2004, in Denver, Colorado!

astbunny 07-17-2003 06:43 AM

BLUTANG 07-17-2003 01:12 PM

Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi hold joint conventions. Our national (biennial) convention will be held NEXT WEEK in Norfolk, VA. The previous one (2001) was in Corpus Christie, TX.

dakareng 07-19-2003 02:58 PM

Pi Beta Phi's 64th Biennenial Convention was June 20-24, 2003i Anaheim California. We will reconvene in Tampa, Florida in June 2005.

amberpwilliams 07-23-2003 02:08 PM

Convention

AOII's International Convention was held in June 2003 in Norfolk, VA. Next year we have Leadership Institute which is held in Nashville, TN (near our Headquarters) and in June 2005 our Convention will be held in Atlanta, GA!

AEPhiSierra 07-24-2003 11:54 PM

AEPhi holds conventions in odd numbered years and summer leadership retreat/conference even numbered years. We had our convention last month in Falls Church, VA outside of DC and our convention in 2005 will be somewhere in Florida. I have no idea where our next summer leadership will be.

That sounds like fun - good luck with all the planning! :)

DeltaSigStan 07-25-2003 10:13 AM

Here's a question for you: does your national DESIGNATE a host chapter?

ksig600 07-25-2003 11:26 AM

With Kappa Sigma the plans are made by our Conclave Commission. They attempt to set our national convention in a fun atmosphere for guys (New Orleans, Vegas, Memphis, Tampa).

The host for Area Leadership Conferences (held on even years) I was told is always an area with a strong chapter base or up-and-coming base

Last year my Area conference was in Greenville, SC (we have strong chapters and new colonies there). I was told that next year our Area will be coming to Atlanta (strong alumni chapter, undergrad chapters (including mine), and a possible colony at Kennesaw State)

sairose 07-28-2003 01:05 PM
