KillarneyRose 07-13-2003 11:00 PM

She's adorable :) Good luck to your sister!

meridionaleDG 07-13-2003 11:31 PM

She's lovely!! I hope she kicks the snot out of Mississippi. (I'm bitter).

For any tri-delts out there, our Miss Mississippi last year is one of your sisters, she is from my school:

http://www.missamerica.org/competiti...=2002&GO=GO%21

She got top 10 in Miss America 2002 and won overall in the swimsuit competition. That picture really doesn't do her justice because she is such a beautiful girl!

FAB*SpiceySpice 07-14-2003 12:35 AM

She's adorable! Good luck to her. :)

On a random note one of my sisters from my chapter was Miss Clark County for Missouri last year, it was fun to watch her compete! :p

GeekyPenguin 07-14-2003 12:58 AM

WOOHOO! Now I have a better reason to watch!

mmcat 07-14-2003 08:02 AM

best of luck to her...
:D

Wonderful! Another sorority woman in the pageant! I started a thread in chit-chat trying to figure out how many women where sorority members and this is what I've come up with so far. (Feel free to correct any that are wrong!)

Miss Florida - Delta Sigma Theta (University of Central Florida)
Miss Kansas - Kappa Alpha Theta (University of Kansas)
Miss Kentucky - Zeta Tau Alpha (Indiana University)
Miss Mississippi - Phi Mu (University of Alabama)
Miss New Jersey - Zeta Tau Alpha (Rutgers)
Miss Tennessee - Kappa Delta (University of Tennessee - Chattanooga)
Miss Oklahoma - Gamma Phi Beta

RedRoseSAI 07-14-2003 10:43 AM

Miss Nevada is an SAI!

I think the Zetas are state winners for the Miss USA pageant (there was a thread on chit chat for them too)...I think the pageant should be listed too!

Heather --

-- where is the thread you started?

Yup. Miss Florida USA is a Zeta from the University of Florida.

GPhiBLtColonel 07-15-2003 01:34 AM

I am thinking of hosting a Panhellenic Pageant party on 20 Sept to watch Miss America -- everyone must wear a tiara to enter!
It might actually turn out to be a fun evening!:D (esp if Miss Oklahoma wins!);)

daoine 07-15-2003 10:39 AM

Phi Mu has a thread on Miss Mississippi -- we'll be cheering for her!

I love this idea!! Be sure to bring lots of streamers and confetti to throw if the favorite wins. :D

Ooh, that sounds festive, Cele! I wish I didn't have to work the next day or I'd make the drive down!

That's just precious!!!! Of course, a tiara is much preferable than a swimsuit!

Wouldn't a swimsuit cover more?

DolphinChicaDDD 07-16-2003 10:01 PM

How do you guys find out this stuff? I really want to know if there is a Tri Delt in this years competetion. Our school is 20 min from AC, and I would LOVE to be there for the parade with a Tri Delta poster.
If nothing else, maybe I'll just make a Panhel Poster!!!:D

I was wondering the same thing too!

mmcat 07-16-2003 10:12 PM

Look up Miss America's website. it has all the bios.
a tiarra is a good thing.

ASUADPi 07-16-2003 11:09 PM

First off, Miss Oklahoma is absolutely adorable.
I don't know if any of the contestants are a fellow sister, but right now I will just root on any Greek. he he.

GPhiBLtColonel 07-17-2003 12:47 AM

I found out about Miss Oklahoma at a recent Gamma Phi leadership symposium. Sometimes the contestants mention sorority affiliation in their bios too. I would think that if there is a Tri-Delta contestant, your Hqtrs might know?

I think I might have to veto the swimsuit portion of the Panhellenic Pageant party -- perhaps we can have an interview question? Or maybe we could still have everyone who comes do a talent competetion? Or better yet, wear an evening gown! :D Finally an event you could wear your old bridesmaids outfits to!

Y'all, I am serious -- I really am going to host this party!!

ASUADPi 07-17-2003 02:25 AM

GPhiBLtColonel, If I wasn't in Arizona, I would SOOOOOO attend your Miss America party.LOL.

You can search through the biographies on the national webpage and sometimes they'll mention their Greek affiliation, or sometimes people on GC will know the contestant because she goes to their school and will know if she's in a sorority. As it gets closer to the competition we'll know more. There's always a Tri Delt or two competing, so I'm sure there will be one this year.

I would be willing to register for AIM just to do this! I will have my tiara on, too!

Speaking of which, I'm going to a Prince Charming's Ball in two weeks. Think I can get away with wearing the tiara? It's not like I get a lot of use out of it...

honeychile, I think you should totally wear your tiara! It's a ball isn't it? :)

I love tiaras! :D

Yeah you should! Two of my sisters and I are trying to convince the sister who's wedding we're all in to let us wear bridesmaid tiaras. For her bacholorette party we are getting a BK crown and decorating it all fance, and then all of us are getting tiara's from Claire's...and actually, her party is the day of Mis America so this should work out well!

I totally think you should -- I will learn how to start a chat -- I have only been invited to join already existing ones -- so we can do a nationwide Panhel Pageant party -- we can diss & cheer on AIM!!!:D OMG -- that would be so much fun!!

honeychile 07-17-2003 12:28 PM

Making a long story short:

When I was a little girl, our neighborhood was brand new, and we had a Clam Bake every fall. It would always fall on the Saturday of Miss America, which was also my birthday weekend. I was about 16 before I realized that this was not all planned for my birthday! I am such a geek!

I was originally going to the Ball as a "wench" but since Mr. honeychile won't be there, I best not dress as a wench!

I am SO looking forward to watching Miss America with y'all!!!!!

AGDLynn 07-17-2003 04:40 PM

Okey doke!! My calendar's marked!!

Peaches-n-Cream 07-20-2003 08:32 PM

I want a sash and a tiara. I want to attend the AIM Miss America Party!

GPhiBLtColonel 07-21-2003 01:59 AM

now someone has to tell me how to start a chat!

And How do I find everyone's AIM handle?

Cream -- I just LOVE the sash idea!! I think I will make one for everyone who comes with various Miss blah blah blah names and they can just pick their own --

When I lived in the Florida panhandle - in Mary Esther, adjacent to Ft Walton Beach - I recall there was a beauty pageant every year for the -- get this -- coveted Miss Mullet title!! And I am not talking about that hairdo Joe Dirt has!!! LOL!

texas*princess 07-21-2003 02:02 AM

I have a Miss America sash & crown!!

I wasn't in the Miss America contest, but I went as "Miss America" to a Halloween party one year. Fun times!

GPhiBLtColonel 07-21-2003 02:05 AM

I was thinking....

....I could have funny "Miss so and so" titles on each sash -- what are some funny ideas y'all???? (Besides Miss Mullet!)

All invitees will be sorority alums.....

MSKKG 07-21-2003 06:58 AM

I saw a "Miss Margaritaville" at the Jimmy Buffett concert. She was in a bikini--outside in Feb.--and had a tiara and sash. She and her 1st runner-up friend walked around before the concert, getting their picture taken with all the young guys.

AGDLynn 07-21-2003 09:00 AM

I know someone who already has her Miss Liberty outfit, complete with torch, lol. ;)
