Chicago meeting, try #4 (I think)
 

I have tried this before, but it never works but I was inspired by the Socal and San Antonio gatherings and I know people from Chicago are home for school. So ...

Anyone up for getting together, let me know.

A year or so ago, I met up for lunches with Corey (SigmaChiCard) and Tracey (valkyrie - not at the same time), so I know GCers are awesome!!

I got accepted to grad school back in the Lou (St.L) and leave Chicago next month!!

I think we should try and do it when astroAPhi is here because I want to meet her! I think it'd be sort of fun to go to a Maggiano's, but I don't know if everyone likes that.

I might be up for it if we do it on a Friday (Aug 8th would be perfect) and somewhere underage...

How about Maggianos in Schaumburg Wednesday Aug. 6 and maybe Gameworks or a movie since there is much to do in Streets of Woodfield??

I think Schaumburg would be great - not too far for the city people and then I don't have to drive around with a bunch of FIBs in the city. ;)

Dinner time. We'd have to make reservations - so we should know how many people are going. I would be coming from work - so it would have to be about 7:30ish, if thats OK!

I think that would be super...then I can miss some rush hour traffic! Maybe we should post about this in the Greek Life thread too so more people can see it.

I'm probably going to have to miss the event if it's on a Wednesday because with my work schedule it's really too hard for me to do stuff during the week. Plus I'd probably just sit there and make fun of Schaumburg the whole time, lol.

I do hate work, but I don't have extra days to take off, unfortunately.

If anyone is ever up to do anything *ahem* in the city on a weekend, I'll be down for that, but I'll have to miss this one.

It's hard, cause I am leavin Chciago in less than a month, have a wedding and bachelorette party for two weekends in St. Louis in August. I'm going to be a grad assistant, advising a college newspaper and teaching a class and getting a masters.

If there's any way we could move it to 8:30 pm I might be in, depending on how long we're staying...I have to work until 5:30 and it's a 3 hour drive...and I'm not going to drive 3 hours if we're only staying an hour...

What about moving it up to 8 - dinner will take a while I am sure. I am up for anything after.

Silly me too, I can make it at whatever time I want...we're hiring someone to take my job (well, part of it) for when I go back to school...so whenever you guys want to plan it is fine!

I think we should...I have a final that night but I plan on coming down afterwards.

Well well well...I may try to make it after all. It appears that I'm going to be leaving the Chicago area for good on Sept. 25, so I've got to meet you guys while I still can! I'll let you know!

I am def in since I will be moving out of Chicago the next day!! Closer to next week I ll try to tally how many might go and make reservations. Keep checking back.

I'm in! But It would b oh so wonderful if someone could PM me with directions from Peoria (or at least an address so I can look it up on yahoo). Also, I might get up there early, since it's such a long drive (I ended up just taking the whole day off of work)....where should I go check out? Is there any cool malls or anything?

Maggianos is in the streets of woodfield shopping center you should be able to look up address on internet and mapquest it, but there is so much to do in schaumburg - streets of woodfield has a lot of shops, and right around the corner is woodfield mall - the largest mall in the us besides mall of america. There is also an IKEA in Schaumburg - a three-story store of the most awesome furniture and so cheap!!

As for recognization - I'm thinking either letters or badges? And since we are reserving a table (right alphachiohmy?), then we could put it as the "Greek table" or something like that.

OK, so I am getting ready to make reservations. Counting from this thread there could be nine of us. I will try and put the name under "John hammell." (it sounds a little more normal than "greekchat") Are there any changes?

Maggianos is nice, but I think you could get away with wearing jeans and nice sandals and a nice shirt, or khakis. Anyone have any preference?? Let me know.

I think we could go either way also (for clothing). AlphaFrog, I will send you some directions tomorrow (my head is broken right now and they won't be very helpful).

Maybe you could decide whether you'd rather wear letters or a pi individually? I'll probably wear my pin because my letters are all crazy (hot pink, polka dots, etc) so would look sort of out of place, but I think more subdued letters would be fine...

I just got a really cute new dress and outfit (I don't know which I want to wear yet...) so I think I'm going pin (plus I love my pin!)...

And I'm a really big idiot (again)...my aunt lives just outside of Orland Park...Hello..FREE room & board...

AlphaFrog, I've booked many a room before I was 21. The whole booking online thing does work. But hopefully you won't even have to worry and be able to stay with your aunt!

I will be in pin attire, but no pin. :( My little sister still has mine... maybe I will be tacky and wear my A Phi flip flops. :D
