Goodies, but Oldies
I've recently began listening to the oldies station while in the car and want to download, er, I mean purchase some oldies. Feel free to throw out some names for me. Thank ya much! :)

Define "oldies"!:p
|
Ya know, 50s, 60s.
Barry White, Al Green, Chubby Checker, Temptations, Otis Redding, etc :D I know the names of artists, but wouldn't know what songs are the good ones. |
Nobody??
|
Well, this is right up my alley. But it needs to be narrowed down unless you are like me and love ALL kinds of music!
I wasn't as crazy abotthe 50's, but the 60's have all that beach themed music-Beach Boys-Supremes-Beatles-Great roups like the Tops-then you got into the begining of acid rock- Peter Paul and Mary- protest songs-quite a diverse group. The 50's had stuff like American Graffti-I THINK that was the 50's music-Sha Na Na and the types smilar to "Where the Boys Are" Doris Day, Perry Como even Patty Duke! Elvis started hitting big-Doo-whap (sp?) Delt Alum could really help you. What "feel" are you looking for? I bet we could come up with SEVERAL you would love! |
I love everything. If you want to suggest 20's, hell, I'll take it. :D I am, however, going more for the sounds of The Temptations, Four Tops, Otis Redding, etc. I hope that makes things clearer. Thank ya much!

The Dominos- Sixty Minute Man... I love this song :)
|
so then you're going more for motown then?
if so, then you have to have "The Tears of a Clown" by smokey robinson - :D |
The soundtrack to American Graffitti is excellent.

this is just my kind of thread.. I LOVE MUSIC (well this types at least) while all of my friends are downloading new songs.. I am getting these.. (though I have most already on CD :) )
Since there are so many songs that I love I am just going to name the top ones.. Beatles -- Blackbird.. In my life (two fav songs--though I love any song, this is religion to me) CSNY -- Almost Cut My Hair, Our House, Cinnamon Girl (so many here as well.. saw them in concert twice) Beach Boys -- God Only Knows... Wouldnt it be nice.. Carly Simon Bob Dylan Janis Joplin (cant believe I forgot her from my first list.. im sure i forgot more as well) I know that these songs arent prob what you were thinking.. but I think that these are prob some of my faves of everything.. you can find some great collection CDs in the store as well from diff times.. though I love the 50s, 60s, and 70s music.. depending on my mood ecsp since they can be very diff types... it drives my boyfriend crazy when I get to listening to this in the car and I know the words to like all the songs and will be dancing around :D |
I like the Beatles, the Who, the Byrds and most stuff from the late 1960s to mid 1970s. I also like New Wave and Heavy Metal from the 1980s.
Recently I have noticed the songs I listened to while growing up and coming of age in the 1980s are now being played in classic rock or pop station. That makes me feel old! http://http://www.handykult.de/plaud.../pinkieone.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...ows/scream.gif |
