Pittsburgh Area Greek Chat gathering!

Hey everyone, who's interested?

We've got Killarney, kddani, honeychile, and fuzzie and myself.....we're talking sometime in August. Anybody else?

honeychile 07-03-2003 09:29 PM

I'm looking forward to this already!!! If someone's collecting telephones numbers, just let me know.

We had fun last year! It will be nice to meet more Pittsburgh GreekChatters this year :)

WhirlwindTNX 07-03-2003 10:50 PM

You can count some girls from TNX to be there!!! Just give a date and time!

33girl 07-03-2003 10:55 PM

As long as it isn't the 2nd or 21st I am good to go - just let me know when & where! :)

honeychile 07-04-2003 12:51 AM

The 2nd is bad for me, too. I can make the 9th, but probably a bit late - I'm giving a seminar that day in Greensburg.

AngelPhiSig 07-04-2003 01:47 AM

Im in Clarion starting the 12th

MoxieGrrl 07-04-2003 01:51 AM

Sounds fun! Any weekend is good for me. :)

Zephyr 07-04-2003 02:07 AM

Um...how about me too?

Not only am I in your same sorority, but we volunteer together, and we're friends.

Unless you think you and your little gathering are/is going to be too cool for me...

;)

AngelPhiSig 07-04-2003 01:56 PM

as long as its not the 6th, def going to warped tour!

As long as you promise to behave yourself! lol. You haven't been on here in a while. I still have to call Natasha for the ALC. Oops!

Anyway I'll have to look on a calendar and see whenwe can get together, anyone else have any bad dates for our little soiree? Any ideas where we should go, I think we may have some under 21 people on here this time around.

33girl 07-06-2003 03:02 PM

The 7th of Aug is bad for me too. As far as under 21s I think anyplace would be fine since most everything is a bar/restaurant not just a bar...

honeychile 07-15-2003 05:31 PM

Just out of curiosity, when do the dorms open at Pitt? When do classes start?

Has there any been any of the CMU greeks on GreekChat?

fire1977 07-18-2003 07:54 PM

honeychile,

residence halls open aug. 21st
classes start aug. 26th

I've never seen anyone on here from Carnegie Mellon.

Thank you!

Now, does anyone know when the Rush dates are yet? :)

Did any of y'all ever have mixers with the CMU greeks? We had a few, and they were really nice. The fraternities used to have "Date Night Dinner" and to be asked to one was pretty cool - like something out of the 50's!

KillarneyRose 07-18-2003 10:47 PM

Honeychile,
We had a mixer with the Carnegie Mellon SAE's and I recall that a good time was had by all. One of my sisters had been a runner-up Miss Hawiian Tropic that year and a lot of the brothers wanted their picture taken with her

Also, they had more than one kind of beer at the mixer! We talked about THAT fact for days! lol

kddani 07-19-2003 01:49 AM

Rush dates are somewhere in the last part of Sept. My guess would be the 25-30.

We did a few things with CMU fraternities when I was first in KD... but when all the alcohol policies got changed and made more strict, we really didn't do much because it was so risky. They didn't really follow ANY rules up there, at least when it came to alcohol.

Although the ones that we did go to were fun. One house spent $800 on alcohol for us. At the time we probably had about 45 sisters :) And we definately found them to be, in general, much nicer, and more respectful than what we were used to.

fire1977 07-19-2003 01:56 PM

okay totally deviating from the topic at hand but here you go:

9/4 - Fall Bash
9/10 - Meet the Greeks
9/18 - 11 rounds 9-11:05, 20 min parties 15 min breaks
9/19 - 11 rounds the sequal 6-9:50, same as above
9/20 - 8 rounds, 1:30-6:15, 30 min parties, 15 min breaks
9/21 - 4 rounds, 1:30 - 5:15, 45 min parties, 15 min breaks
9/22 - Preference 8:30-10:45, 1 hour parties, 15 min breaks
9/23 - Bid night, 8:45 WPU (obviously dphie and kd and adpi and dz..okay everyone with quota!! sorry couldn't resist!!)

Speaking of which....good luck to all of the pitt chapters here.

Much like kddani said we mixed with CMU fraternities before the alcohol policy went into effect. We went from socialites to no social life whatsoever. Hmm, Sig Eps, Kappa Sigs, KDR, and Beta. Some were fun some were not so fun.

How does Friday the 8th sound? Do we want to do Oakland again??

I have my guesses as to whom this may be!! I have this theory about campuses. The larger the female vs. male ratio the bigger jerks the men become!!! Seriously...that's why the CMU boys are statistically nicer.

This day has been TOO long and TOO stressful! I read that first party as "Bash the Greeks" and thought, "Now that's counterproductive, isn't it?"

I have got to relax...!

whtwudusay 07-21-2003 09:40 PM

Pittsburgh Gathering

Hey everyone!

I don't get to post very often, but I wanted to say it's great to see active Greeks in the Pittsburgh area. I'm a KDR just moved to Greensburg about a year ago. I think talking to or meeting other Greeks in the area would be great. I graduated from Indiana University (not IUP) in 2001 and am still heavily involved in Greek Life. Great "meeting" you all!

fire1977 07-22-2003 12:08 AM

Friday the 8th? Anyone? anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

To whtwudusay....It seems like the number of Pittsbugh people keeps growing!

honeychile....lol, yeah that would be a whole new event.

KillarneyRose 07-22-2003 12:20 AM

August 8th should work for me :) C'mon Pittsters, where are you???

33girl 07-22-2003 12:34 AM

I can do the 8th. I will even blow off work. :D Are we going to stick w/ Oakland or someplace else?

whtwudusay - are you working at the national office?

fire1977 07-22-2003 12:39 AM

I'm a big fan of Oaklandbut I'm a little biased as it is 10 min away from me.

We could go to fuel and fuddle....they have the downstairs room that we could go to.

Any other suggestions or ideas?

honeychile 07-22-2003 08:23 AM

I'm game for the 8th, but it would have to be an early night for me. I have a seminar early the next morning in Greensburg.

KillarneyRose 07-22-2003 09:07 AM

I know the people living in Pittsburgh might feel differently, but I always love going "home" to Oakland :)

MoxieGrrl 07-22-2003 09:34 AM

The 8th is good for me :)

whtwudusay 07-22-2003 10:30 AM

33girl - yes. I've worked for the office for a little over a year now. Right now I'm preparing for our National Convention August 7-10 in St. Louis.

kddani 07-22-2003 01:45 PM

i'm game for the 8th! i'll also bring my digital camera like I did last year so that we can spread the Pittsburgh GC love and show off what hotties we all are! :D

sweetie adpi 07-22-2003 02:18 PM

hello hello! been busy and haven't kept up lately but if y'all are getting together, i'd love to meet up with you! :D i love fuel and fuddle and haven't been down to oakland in a few months... and it just so happens i'm free on the eighth!

funny, I was thinking the same thing!!

KillarneyRose 07-23-2003 03:03 PM

Bumpity Bump Bump!

Where exactly is Fuel and Fuddle? Is it on Oakland Avenue where the old Caleco's (a moment of silence, please) was?

33girl 07-23-2003 03:05 PM

Tracy,
Yes, it is. And it looks NOTHING like Caleco's. (You can actually see your hand in front of your face)

whtwudusay 07-23-2003 03:37 PM

Is everybody here from the area originally? Or what is everyone's backgroung? How are y'all doing today?

fire1977 07-23-2003 08:05 PM

I'm orginally from a town about 30 minutes northeast of pittsburgh.

And yes I'm from Pittsburgh as I give my mileage estimates in minute increments!

fire1977 07-23-2003 08:18 PM

shall we try 6 or 7??

is 6 too early for anyone? where is AngelPhiSig, I haven't heard from her in a while.....

honeychile 07-23-2003 08:32 PM

I surely don't want everyone to work around my schedule, but I will have to leave somewhat early - must be sober to give a lecture at the DAR the next morning! So, 6 or 7 is just fine for me!
