Pride Online
What are your thoughts regarding Pride Online, the ADPi-members only pages? What do you like about them? Dislike?
Have you ever logged on? How often? |
Registering for pride online isn't emphasized very well in my chapter...either girls don't know where to go, or don't know how to work it...etc. There aren't very many girls in my chapter registered, maybe around 20 or so. I do go online every so often to check up on the forums, but there's never very much going on...I don't think too many girls are interested in it. But I love the idea of it and I wish more girls would get involved!
|
Great point-- how do you think we can get more sisters logged on? Is this something to add to new member education?
Currently, one of the TME workshops for next fall is again "ADPi a Lifetime Experience" which also helps you get onto Pride Online. Maybe more chapters, when they do these workshops, can offer a good incentive to the pride who has the most sisters log on? What are your ideas? |
one of my big things about pride online is that i wish the forums worked like the ones on gc... i think it would promote more communication between sisters, it's hard to know if anyone's responded to your posts and there's no history to go back to with the way that it is set up now.
i log on sporadically, and usually i never know if anyone responds to my posts if i do post, because too much time goes by in between. |
Ok...I have to agree with others that the forum needs some work so as to make it more likely for people to post...My other problem with it, is that still not all forms and things are up there yet...And this can make things difficult. I do like some of the submision stuff through the web for reports, but I think we really need to convert it so you can submit all reports over the web...My other thought is that it would have been nice to have an update on convention on the site like they did for the 150th...I have to say that greekchat was my only quick way to find out what all happened...and I think it would be great to advertise all the awards chapters won and what not...Ok...that was my little thing...oh and I also think as chapters we need to encourage everyone to register with pride online...

I AGREE
log on pretty frequently, (actually less now that I am on GC). Its fun to read the posts, but frustrating when there aren't any recent ones. I, too, wish sisters used it more.
My chapter, didn't really emphasize it too much, and infact a lot of times as officers we weren't great about it either. I wish that EO would update the site more often, in general. Convention updates would have been awesome. I know there is a lot of stuff there, but there is stuff missing too. But it can't be easy or at all inexpensive to maintain that thing. The message boards for pride on-line could easily be much better...more like this place. Have you ever noticed the actual purposes of each forum...like the Violets to you forum, which I (and many people) use to send "violets" to sisters is actually for "discussions concerning chapter management?" Weird huh...All the posts I see are "violets." As an alumna, I wish there was a LOT more info on Alums assns, and contact info and a place to communicate activities...etc...but I wish that for the Adelphean too... OK, I think this was more like my .05 than my allotted .02 L&L sisters!! Jen |
I have to be honest - I still have the old site bookmarked because I feel it's easier to get information there. So many times, I've wanted to see what chapters are in what state (or a similar question), and for the life of me, I can't find it on the new site!
Pride Online is a nice addition, though. Only one other person from my pledge class is registered, though. If we posted about a reunion or whatever there, I think about 2 people would show up. Yes, I think further education is needed concerning the pluses of registering and keeping current. That said, I think EO is doing a fantastic job in keeping us up to date! |
Pride Online frustrates me.
I like the fact that there's a private side, but the technology needs to be updated. The side menu reloads *every* time you click on a link-- it should be static, and not waste time reloading the whole thing. I really do wish that it was more like GC-- I hate having to click on one post to read it, then click again to read a reply, then go back two screens to click on another reply-- this truly wastes time and is thus very frustrating. There are only five forums, and they aren't well defined. Recruitment, sisterhood ideas, programming, service events, alumnae relations, alumnae chapter events, misc/violets-- those topics would make more sense. Sometimes I don't know where to post a question, so I just come here. Many sisters aren't registered, and some disaffiliated sisters are still listed! I also wish I could get info like what chapters won what awards and what other highlights there are at convention or district meetings. |
I am not very impressed with the Pride Online portion of our website. It not very user friendly at all! I wish that it was set up like GC instead. There are so many awesome ADPi's on this site!
I don't think that the website is very informative in general. Since the revision, I feel like they took out a lot of info. I would love to see chapter awards, a list of chapters, more alum info, pictures of headquarters, grand council, TCC's etc. Loyally, azureblue Alpha Delta Pi....first. finest. forever. |
Pride Online is messed up for me!
When I got my Adelphean and entered my member number online so I could register, it told me that my initiation year was "3003"...!!! Apparently there is some technology glitch and my entire pledge class is listed as being initiated in 3003....I have emailed the Pride Online people about it but they haven't fixed it yet! So if someone does a search for their Member Info (if say, they lost their Adelpheans or something) or if someone looks for my info, they're not going to find it b/c of the initiation date glitch. |
I was in the process of moving when the last Adelphean went out and mine must have gotten lost somewhere along the way. Does anyone know how I can get a replacement copy?
|
Chloe,
I'm not 100% certain, but I would recommend calling Exec Office (their number is on the ADPi website), and they can put you in touch with the Adelphean folks. Also, the Technology Committee posts featured stories from the Adelphean at Pride Online. So if you could improve Pride Online, what kind of features would you want to see? What is our wish list and how could these wishes be accomplished? :) For me, I would like more sisters to be using the forums!!!! I think the best way to make this happen is to get new members registered as soon as they go through alpha ceremony. None of the P-OL material is ritual, and it gets them into things more quickly. I think we can educate our sisters about using Pride Online by making it a component of Alpha Ed and part of education at Chapter Retreat. This year, all the chapters are doing the TME workshop "ADPi a Lifetime Experience" which includes instruction on logging in. I also think that the forums need to be expanded. "Violets to You" sounds like it is a place to praise sisters (and it is used for that), but it was intended to be a place to discuss other ADPi stuff. I think wording it in everyday speak like with Greek Chat, and requiring the user to TITLE THEIR SUBJECT HEADING would totally make more sense. I would also like to see an email link for each poster. Anyone else? |
I've registered for Pride Online the other day!
It took awhile for me to be able to access it, but I'm finally there and excited (this means I should be getting my Adelphean soon too :D .. at least I'm hoping!) Does ADPi have any corporate "partners"? I know Delta Sigma Pi (co-ed business) has partnered up with insurance companies, car rental places, and a credit card company to get special offers from the places. The Delta Sigma Pi credit card is also neat because for every dollar you spend, the company gives a portion to the fraternity. Does ADPi have something like that? I would love to help out our sisterhood because I like to shop :D I thought maybe that stuff would be at Pride Online, but I didn't see it? I could have missed it though. |
Texas Princess,
Yes, we have partnered with MBNA Credit Cards, a calling card and several other groups. I know it used to be somewhere on the website. Violets to you for registering at Pride Online! |
If you go under contact us on the adpi website there is a link towards the top for all the corporate partners...

My suggestions are the following:
I think allowing sisters to change their username to something that they can remember. I suspect that many sisters go through the initial logging on, with their copy of the "Adelphean" by their side, but the next time they want to log on, they can't remember their number. Being able to create nicknames as user names is really fun and helps actually make the user experience more individual. The GC experience is great in that we can have a nick name and then also have a signature which can also be a forum for other information such as individual chapter. On ADPi the nicks might concentrate on our interests outside of ADPi, which is another way to get to know one another via the technology. The ability to upload digital pictures and sound files would be a blast. Imagine being able to actually hear the new CD that the Washington chapter created? Or, how about actual pictures of Rush parties? Imagine how fun threads could be if sisters everywhere could write rush threads similar to the ones on GC complete with pics? My pet peeve with Pride Online, is also that many times someone will ask a question such as; "need suggestions of good exit songs" And the answer will be "email me at adpi is for me.com we have great exit songs!" So those who are casual readers never get to see the exit songs themselves. I'm not sure how to resolve that one, but if anyone else has an idea, I'd love to hear it. I also think that Pride Online is simply very static. There are very few areas that are updated frequently, and new information is what people log onto sites for. Obviously I'm making these suggestion without knowing the approval process the Grand Council has established, nor do I know the cost of updates; but in an ideal world I would think that there would be the ability to have a "letter" from an international officer each month. Or maybe an officer from each District highlighting their chapters and alumnae associations. How about an online diary from sisters in different size chapters or different geographic locations that follows how they handle year round recruitment, or philanthropic events, etc...? Those are just some thoughts, great question as usual adpiucf! violets |
Someone should email this thread/discussion to the Pride Online people :) I would volunteer to do it, but I am not really sure how...?!
|
adpiucf & nauadpi, thank you for helping me find those links! :)

Also, if you ever see a thread you do want EO to look at, go ahead and email it to them! They are interested in our sisters' thoughts and feedback!!! :) Post it at Pride Online or email it EO in the comments section of of alphadeltapi.org. Hope everyone is having a great day! |
my pet peeve (sort of)....i don't know if anyone else has seen this stuff, but some of the forms on there with stuff about ritual makes me kinda uncomfortable/nervous...i don't know if anyone else has noticed this stuff...just scares me knowing how easy it is for people to get into these places...
|
SLUADPi, there is a ritual paraphernalia inventory that can be downloaded at Pride Online (which is members-only access). The outgoing and incoming guard catalogue ritual materials, so the chapter can determine annually if they need to repair or replace things. The casual onlooker wouldn't know the meaning behind these things, nor their actual use. Non-members are employed by Exec Office and can assist chapters in getting these materials, which often are made by a Greek supplies specialty store (who employ non-members). I promise you that nothing to do with the actual ritual is posted.
|
thanks for clearing that up for me adpiucf....i feel alot better now :)
|
Sadly, I have absolutely no idea how to use Pride Online! And I am going into my senior year! :(

How to log onto Pride Online
Go to www.alphadeltapi.org....
.... Click "Members" -- this will take you to a log-on page. Follow the prompts to log in if you have not done so before. You will be asked for your member number. This is a number that is located on the address label of your Adelphean. If you don't have a copy of your Adelphean, follow the prompts and your member number will be emailed to you. Once you have your member number, select a password. Log in and explore! There are message boards, an address book to look up sisters, chapter operations forms, directories and more! You can update your contact information and even fill out a form if you are an alum (called the Wll-Serve, name soon changing to something along the lines of a an online personal profile) which gives you a menu of options for alumnae involvement! When you alumnae and graduating seniors fill out this form, you will be contacted by a sister who will advise you on when groups are meeting, etc. Happy Pride Online surfing! :) |
You Make A Difference
Grand Council met this month, and guess what--
"We discussed the e-mail Abbey sent regarding discussion on Greek Chat regarding how members felt Pride Online could be better. We are forwarding these suggestions to Cindy Ross our technology chair - thanks Abbey for this information." I just wanted to share with you that your opinions matter and that Alpha Delta Pi is committed to continuously improving and keeping up with the times to keep our sorority "First and Finest Forever!" Keep coming up with your wonderful ideas! |
