It was GREAT! I met NeonPi, Snowlady and OleMissGlitter. Snowlady has a beautiful voice and led all the songs. Snowlady, did I see your baby girl there? She is beautiful.

Omicron won JWH. Kappa Tau, my chapter of initiation, won a Ruby Award and my alumnae chapter won a Pearl Award.

The PIPs had a great story telling. The buzzwords, thereafter, were "white gloves." It seems back in the day Rose Banquet was actually Rose Ball and area young men were invited. If you were willing to dance, you wore white gloves.

The 2003-2005 Board was escorted into the banquet by some navy seamen. Damn if they didn't look good. Something about a navy man in a white uniform.

A diamond lavaliere was auctioned off for the foundation. Sadly, I did not win it. The good news is that I can purchase one for ~$400 when my rich uncle comes out of the poor house. ;)

MS State colonization will take place late August/early September. A few more details need to be finalized but things are looking good. We haven't come to an agreement about the house, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it. We may be building the new chapter a new one.

The 2005 convention will be in "HOT"lanta!

AOII*Azra-elle 07-01-2003 04:07 AM

oooh! HOT'lanta! :) I can't wait..*l* us EGers are already saving up for next year. Too bad we couldn't have gone this year :( But hey, I can always live vicariously through y'all!

Congratulations! I truly wish I could have afforded to go. Alas, retail does not give too much left over every month. . . .

I LOVE listening to Nancy McCain tell stories of her travels, etc. I can only imagine how much fun having all the PIPs together telling stories.

I am going to try and save up my pennies to make to Atlanta in 2005 (along with possibly Germany for World Youth Day - guess that means I need to find a better paying job!).

Sarah

AOIIalum 07-01-2003 10:23 AM

All right! Atlanta is a decent flight for me! Whoo freaking hoo, I'm a happy girl! Come on Sarah, you've gotta be there in 2005! You've got to!

'Rose, I'm so glad you got to meet so many of our GC AOIIs. SnowLady has a beautiful voice (and she's a wonderful sister and friend, too!) PIP storytelling is always a Convention Highlight. I love the "white gloves"!

Good luck with the MSU Housing situation. I can imagine how tough it is to get all the kinks worked out and decisions made.

Hey Sisters and Friends!
Convention was awesome! I met some of ya'll! I had the best times and gosh did I learn some great ideas from other AOIIs! My roommate was a doll, she was the Delta Delta (Auburn) Chapter Adviser. Everyone else I met was a delight too. I am also happy to say that Arthritis Research has picked AOII to be one of their national sponsor and an AOII with arthritis will be their spokesperson! GO AOII! International publicity for AOII! Well, I have to go and look for a job! I'm still jobless but hopeful because I don't want to leave Oxford and my Nu Beta darlings!

pandarose18 07-06-2003 11:32 PM

I was there and had an AWESOME time!!!!!! :) I'm not 100% sure if I met all of you GC AOII''s that were there but I must agree that the songs were beautifully lead by Snowlady! I can't wait for everyone to come to good ole GEORGIA in 2005!!!! :) I hope to see each and everyone of you there! Congrats to all the sisters and chapters that were recognized at convention. And congrats to our new Executive Board who will proudly lead us through the next biennium! :)

Roses,
Sarah

AOII*Azra-elle 07-07-2003 04:33 AM

Where is convention 2004?

AOIIalum 07-07-2003 06:40 AM

Next year is LI, and is held in Nashville (every off year is LI, which works for me because it's an easy drive from Central Ohio!) Convention 2005 is in Atlanta!

AOII*Azra-elle 07-07-2003 03:28 PM

Oh, Tennessee! :) How I miss being there! I can't wait!

OleMissGlitter 11-18-2004 05:25 PM

Convetion: ATL STYLE

Who's going to convention in Atlanta this Summer 2005? I AM! I'm working on getting a crew of Nu Beta collegiate and alumnae members to go!

AOIIalum 11-18-2004 05:43 PM

As of now, I plan to attend!

aoiikristi 11-18-2004 05:57 PM

I am planning to be there!

pandarose18 11-18-2004 06:58 PM

I'll be there too!!! :) Considering I live only 45 Min south of Atlanta. :) Can't wait to have such an awesome orginization take over an equally awesome city!!! :) Here's your early WELCOME to those of y'all that are comin'!!!

Roses,
Sarah

Beryana 11-19-2004 07:07 AM

I will be there as well - as a delegate. I can't wait to see you all again!!! :)

Gotta run and work Mickey Mouse Express!!!

Sarah

NeonPi 11-19-2004 10:12 AM

I'll be there ....

SnowLady 11-19-2004 02:30 PM

My plans are to be there. I can't wait to stick two kids with the hubby for that long. mwah ha ha ha

Stacekat 11-19-2004 05:38 PM

I'd like to go, but I don't know if I want to trek my then 3 month old accross the country. Is that even allowed? Can you fly with a baby that young?

Beryana 11-19-2004 07:36 PM

As a flight attendant, the FAA does not allow a baby younger than 7 DAYS to fly. :) A 3 month old would be fine. ;)

So a little off topic--Beryana--what is the FAA guideline for allowing pregnant women to fly?

Beryana 11-21-2004 08:15 AM

Oh! You made me pull out my manual!!! LOL

You are not allowed to fly if you are in your 9th month of pregnancy unless you have a note from your doctor stating you are not due to deliver until 72 hours AFTER reaching your destination.

Sarah

zinf77 11-22-2004 06:47 PM

I can't wait to go. I am a part of the ATL alum chapter and they have been talking about it a lot at the meetings.

Stacekat 11-22-2004 07:56 PM

So Yeah!!! Me, Baby Girl and Hubby will be in the ATL for convention! I convinced him!

AOIIAlum, are you having a baby too? I saw your xmas wish list and it had a stroller :)

AOIIalum 11-22-2004 09:33 PM

A stroller? Huh? Nope, no way -- no more babies around here! Now, there was a carpet steamer on my list...but no stroller...off to check that puppy out :)

Roses,
C

Stacekat 11-29-2004 05:50 PM

Ok, so what happened with the amazon link you have, was that it automatically went to My "Wish List" page. You know, the one that I've emailed to Mr. Stacekat, but he never buys from. So no, it's not you that wants the stroller, it's me. I'm just not smart lately, sorry ;)

Is everyone getting ready about Convention 2005 in Atlanta?

I am!

aopirose 05-09-2005 10:22 AM

Me! Me! I am going and so is hubby. He is meeting with some fraternity brothers while we are AOIIing. There are also 5 others from my AC going.

aoiikristi 05-11-2005 09:43 AM

I will be there with bells on!
Can't wait to be in Hotlanta!

Guess what? We were sending our Corp Treasurer but due to a few lousy-for-her scheduling conflicts she can't go now. Hopefully she can go to the next one for us, because she's never been to a Convention!

I'm booking my flight today in her place, so this Corp President will see y'all in Hotlanta! Any other Corp people going?

ETA that spelling is important at the crack of dawn!

OleMissGlitter 05-31-2005 09:25 AM

I got my flight the other day! I cannot wait! We all need to meet up again!

SnowLady 05-31-2005 10:45 AM

Wahoo! AOIIAlum! Wonder if we're on or near the same flight?

AOIIalum 05-31-2005 03:41 PM

I don't know, check your email :)

Let me tell you, booking a flight this late in the game is going to be a financial pain, but oh so worth it!

OleMissGlitter 06-02-2005 01:02 PM

Is anybody going to the extra stuff? Let me know!

AOIIalum 06-02-2005 04:04 PM

I don't know, I'm tempted by the "Taste of the Peach" one. I'd *really* like to do the shopping tour, but it's during the day. Heck, I'd be just as pleased to meet up with a bunch of you during the free time and spend the evening hanging out "in real life"!

I'd also love to go to The Varsity, I've seen it on the Food Network and it looks like a neat place. I wonder if it's anywhere close to the hotel?

AOIIBrandi 06-02-2005 04:22 PM

What hotel are ya'll staying at? I live about 3 blocks from the Varsity.

aopirose 06-02-2005 04:37 PM

Most people are staying at the host hotel which is nice. It was a real pain last time for those of us in the overflow hotel.

Mr. aopirose is coming so the "Gone with the Wind" speaker is out for us. I would like to do a Taste of the Peach. I can't remember what others from my chapter are doing. I have been to CNN and it is nice. When I went to Pi Kappa Phi's Atlanta convention, the spouses did the Buckhead tour with lunch at the Swan House. I think. Later, we all (500+) went to Stone Mountain for a BBQ dinner. We then boarded boats at dusk to see the laser light display from the lake. It was really pretty.

AOIIalum 06-02-2005 05:07 PM

We're at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis (sp?).
