Ace from the new Real World

Does anyone know what fraternity he is in? He goes to Georgia Southern University. I am pretty sure he is in a frat because on the MTV site everyone refers to him as frat this and frat that.

Why can't a meet a fraternity guy who seems as nice as him? hahahaa

meridionaleDG 06-25-2003 11:03 PM

nevermind - I found it out...he's a KA.

SDTSarah 06-25-2003 11:04 PM

Ace is a KA.

SDTSarah 06-25-2003 11:05 PM

Wow, that was scary. ;)

sugar and spice 06-25-2003 11:11 PM

I knew Ace was a KA, but I want to know if Mallory, Leah or Christina are in sororities. They all seem like they could be, although Mallory played soccer for her college team so she might not have had enough time. Anybody know?

I think Leah might be in one, because she talked about how she lived with 7 other girls or something...I don't know. She then said it sucks having to live with a bunch of bulemics. Wa Roh.

Hmm...MTV says this about Mallory:

Quote:

Mallory is a statuesque, athletic 19-year-old in her freshman year at Iowa State. With her parents pushing her to achieve in sports, Mallory is struggling with what others expect of her and her desire to explore life outside of athletics. Eager to leave a structured life, she is happy to give up her soccer scholarship to move to Paris.
I doubt she would have enought iem for a sorority.

PSUSigKap 06-26-2003 02:10 AM

one of my sorority sisters was a penn state cheerleader for 2 years before she went abroad. another was on the women's rugby team. it's all about time management, so it's possible to juggle collegiate sports and greek life. that said i don't think mallory is in a sorority.

There was rumors of Leah being a Theta at UMD...but she came on a local radio station here in DC and she made it clear she was NOT a Theta, although many of her friends were....

ZTAngel 06-26-2003 10:58 AM

What fraternity is Dave from Road Rules in? In the episode where they had to drink the fish eyeball, he said, "This is why I joined a fraternity."

If you read his bio on the Real World page on MTV.com it says in there that he is a member of Kappa Alpha. :D

Munchkin03 06-26-2003 11:23 AM

Ace has hardly been a proper representation of his fraternity. Insularity sucks, dude.

I think he acts like a good guy (from a female prespective). I don't know how KA's would like their men to act, but this guy is fun, seems genuinely caring, and tries to avoid drama. Sure he got mad about French people one episode, but he quickly got over it and said that maybe he doesn't like the French because he doesn't understand their culture, and he said he would try hard to begin to understand. And sure he likes to drink, but he is what 22? and already has part ownership in 3 bars? Talk about successful.

Even when that Adam characther totally trashed on Leah the first night, Ace wasn't all big headed and mocho - he felt really bad and told Adam he should have said that stuff to Leah.

I don't know, compared to a lot of the frat guys I know - Ace seems very classy.

Moxie 06-26-2003 12:38 PM

ace really doesn't seem like such a bad guy. he did go off on france a few times, but when it came time for him to start learning the language, he was working really hard. then later, once he saw some part of the country he thought was gorgeous, he said he wouldn't make another negative comment about france. all in all, he seems pretty cool and levelheaded - compared to a lot of the people they pick to me on RW. and yeah, he likes to drink a lot, but he makes sure everyone along with him has a good time, too!

APhiAngel 06-26-2003 02:56 PM

for some reason I thought that Malloy was/is an Alpha Phi. I saw the one where she was looking for hre purse with Leah's passport, and she had a sweatshirt that was (what I thought was black) and I saw The A which had bordeaux and the glitter silver underneath. I didn't get to see another letter, but it lookes jus tlike a sweatshirt that I got frm. Sorority Specialities. But then again my boyfriend said that the shirt was green, so I could be wrong.

sugar and spice 06-26-2003 03:02 PM

Somebody else said they saw Mallory wearing a shirt with a Phi on it, but they didn't catch any of the other letters . . . so you could be right.

sugar and spice 06-26-2003 03:06 PM

Actually, now that I've done some research, I realized that Mallory goes to ISU which doesn't even have an Alpha Phi chapter . . . so she's not an Alpha Phi.

APhiAngel 06-26-2003 03:18 PM

HAHA thanks, then maybe the shirt was green :p
I would have gone on thinking that she was, are there any other GLO's there with similar letters?

Phi Beta Chi (a Christian sorority), Pi Beta Phi (Iowa Gamma), and Gamma Phi Beta are the female "Phi" GLOs on the show.

She wasn't listed on the PBX site or the Pi Phi site. The Gamma Phi chapter there (Omega) hasn't updated their site in about 4 years. It could also be a fraternity shirt.

Oh no no no, I wasn't saying Leah couldn't have been in a sorority, I was saying Mallory talks about how much times she spins playing soccer, so I don't think she could have had time.

DeltaGammaWolf 06-27-2003 12:29 AM

Back to the discussion about Ace representing KA, I would imagine that it would be hard to put your best foot forward ALL THE TIME, especially being in a foreign country, with strangers for roommates, and having cameras shoved in your face all the time. I know I couldn't do it.

IheartAphi 06-27-2003 09:57 AM

Ace is awesome- I don't think he has been too bad. He is fun though.

I wish we had nice KA's at my school, but they kinda keep to themselves. My ex boyfriend is a KA though at Western Carolina and his chapter seems super cool.

SigmaChiGuy 06-27-2003 10:43 AM

I heard that too, and would be interested to know which org. he belongs to.

Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?

I think Ace represents Georgia well. I keep thinking that if I were on Real World I'd probably get along with him really well because he's a lot like all of the guys that I know back home... southern style! And I think he's pretty stereotypical KA, too... at least what my stereotype is of them. Southern in every way!

There's a HUGE difference in adjusting to a new country and just being rude about it. When I moved to a foreign country, for about the same amount of time, with strangers as roommates, and I didn't act anywhere near the way Ace did. The words that he uttered seemed to be peculiar to him--not his roommates or the vast majority of Americans who WILLINGLY move abroad. My criticism of him had nothing to do with his drinking (he's over 21), or anything like that--simply his rudeness and unwillingness to settle into a foreign environment. The RW folks in London experienced culture shock, to be sure--remember Mike and the Ranch dressing?--but they were not the stereotypical "Ugly American." His insularity is what turned me off.

No offense, but did you even watch the end of that episode? His attitude did a complete 360 and he admitted he was just being ignorant by hating the culture only because he didn't know about it.

Yea he was a jerk, but it takes an even bigger person to make it known to everyone that he was wrong - which makes me think even more highly of him. Everyone is wrong in what they believe sometimes - but no many of us can admit to it.

AZpinkkittie 06-30-2003 12:09 AM

good call. I thought it was really big of Ace to basically apologize at the end of the show. I didn't see last weeks episode (vacation) but I saw some people saying in earlier posts that maybe he went traveling around the city and realized it was really beautiful and said he wouldn't ever saying anything bad about it again. I like Ace a lot.

Also, I heard that line from David on Road Rules too. I thought maybe I 'd missed his letters on a shirt somewhere in an earlier episode. i'm not looking dor it though. Don't the Road Rules people have bios on MTV? It should be there.

I think that was the same Vail sweatshirt that she was wearing in the episode where she and Simon are sick.

Aprylel21 07-06-2003 06:19 PM

I actually got the chance to meet Ace in a local bar in Atlanta last week. He is really cute.... more attractive than he is on tv. So many people were talking to him and he didn't seem to mind that he really couldn't enjoy himself. I mean when I say so many, I mean a lot. He couldn't take 2 steps and someone was like "Oh hey! I thought you looked like Ace!" Some of my friends were talking to him after the bar closed and he was saying that people here were really nice and that was cool. He is a cool guy, not to mention hot as hell ;)

CardinalSM 07-06-2003 06:36 PM

My Chi O big sis met Ace, Mallory, and Adam at one of Ace's clubs in Statesboro, GA a few weeks ago. She said that Ace is really really gorgeous and SOO nice. She also said that Mallory was really sweet and pretty and that Adam seemed kind of like a jerk.

Aprylel21 07-06-2003 09:21 PM

Yeah, I met Adam too, but he did seem like an asshole so I kindly failed to mention him. I guess he just acts like that for real. Although his hair was beautiful all I wanted to do was touch it.

OverAndUnder 07-17-2003 03:56 AM

As a brother in Kappa Alpha Order, I for one, can say that I have been proud of the way Ace has carried himself.

SparkliiQTMTSU 07-17-2003 07:37 PM

WOW I wanna know what Bars he owns or co owns or whatever lol. Im going to be in GA this weekend. It would be nice to go and hang out and have a few drinks there lol :)

I've seen him in the hat on the show without the letters blurred out. I wonder why they started blurring him out.

BTW, I just *love* his southern accent! Makes me glad I live in the south! ;) :D

I admire Kate though, because I don't know if I could break up with Ace. He is just too nice to look at. What a wienie for not talking to her about it.

Are your GA Tech friends in a frat?

I went to Georgia Southern my freshman year of college and have gone back for the past 3 years to visit my sorority, etc. Ace owns The Woodin Nickel and RumRunners in Statesboro, GA. The Woodin Nickel was around when I was there and I loved it, though he didn't own it at that time. I hear its even better now! RumRunners is in a tiny little spot that was a coin laundry when I was in school there. However, if you can get in, you pay a flat fee at the door (I think $5) and drink frozen drinks all nite for free! :) Great place!
Statesboro is nowhere near Atlanta though, for those from out of town. Its about 3 1/2 hours from Atlanta, near Savannah. There's really nothing there except GSU and a few bars.
If you want to check out Ace's website:

GPhiSweetiePie 08-03-2003 01:42 AM

Saw an episode today where Ace was wearing a shirt that had KA's and ADPi's letters on it...funny how that wasn't blurred out but his hat was in that other episode...
