Calling all Republicans
thread for all us repubs out here in gc land.....just so we quit invading "enemy" territory....lol....soo j/k! you dems know i love ya!!! afterall, i'm tryin to help by givin docet a lil area to play in b/4 y'all stick him in time out! :p
things to discuss: "4 more years" why we love the dubya an elephant never forgets why libby dole should run for prez! :D bill clinton ;) (eeeeew) GO! |
You forgot something.
-Rudey --Republicans are well hung. |
I am a conservative and I find that difficult as a college student since college campuses are known mostly to be left. This is solely my opinion but I really respect liberals but I absolutely HATE people that look liberal just for attention. In high school one of my best buds was a well informed and learned democrat. This past year I lived with a room mate from hell who claimed to be left and showed it through his "lifestyle". He exemplified those of the left that fake it for the attention. "Look at me I'm protesting the evil empire!" I also don't like those that sit down during the National Anthem. The way I look at it you stand up no matter what. You stand up to both honor your country AND to bear the shame of your country. It's like a Lakers fan wearing a jersey even though they lost in the playoffs.
Again I want to make it clear that I respect liberals but not those that do it JUST for attention. |
I am conservative, go to a VERY liberal university, have been somewhat visible in pro-life campaigns (nice ones - we didn't harrass abortion clinics and tell women they were going to hell or anything like that. Those people are an embarrassment),very openly declare my love for the dubya (my first son's middle name will be after the pres), and will be volunteering for his campaign.
My pet peeve: mistreatment of the flag in any way. I cannot stand to see it being displayed improperly; if you own a flag and plan on displaying it, I believe that you should know the proper etiquette. For instance, one of our fraternities flies it own flag higher than the flag, which is attached to the wall. Big no-no. Ok, getting off the soapbox. I respect anyone with well thought out and INFORMED opinions. Don't tell me you're a democrat because your daddy told you to vote like he did and expect my admiration. I'll blow you off and not even waste my time telling you I don't agree with you. |

One thing I am going to add is this tax cut that was finally approved -- WHY IN THE HELL did the democraps get it in there that people who DO NOT pay taxes should still get a refund?? I mean, if I walk up to the returns line at Wal-Mart and there are 10 people ahead of me with shirts that they bought and are now returning, should I really expect to walk up there with NO shirt to return and say "I would still like some money back" -- I love Dole too :D I think that she represents herself, her party, women, and politicians in a respectful way and I will be proud to support her if and when she runs for President. As for W - he is an amazing man that has been criticized for things that *shouldn't* matter (like the references to Curious George) -- when instead, he should be recognized for making MY world a better, safer place to live. I will certainly be on his campaign! |
I'm looking forward to great conversations here. When I have more time, I'd like to agree about some points Crystal said about MTSU. I just recently joined the Rutherford County Republican Party and the Rutherford County Republican Women. I'm excited about getting involved!!
|
Short on time too. The one demo mantra that goes right up my spine is "The tax cuts are only for the rich." They (esp Daschel sp?) repeat this so much- like they believe if they say it often enough it will be true!
I think I could fill an entire thread on Hillary. Somebody posted a link way back where you could punch her face. So childish and ashamed to admt it...I LOVED THAT SITE!!! |
John McCain is one of the few only good republicans. I think the White House would be better off with him than Bush.
For you John Edward fans.. http://www.johnedwards2004.com/ Check out that nice flag picture in the backround of the menu.;) here is the Bill Clinton Pic I promised the republican invaders to the democrat thread. http://www.btinternet.com/~digital.w...ll_clinton.jpg *Yep like you said you had the right to invade the democrat thread to insult people I have the right to do the same in your thread* ;) I know politcal issues get heated but can we keep them at least respectful from now on? |

By the way - Ann Coulter's new book "Treason" is coming out, and it is ALREADY higher on the Amazon best seller's list than the Former First Lady's book! Woo-Hoo - Coulter can write! Go Republicans! |
Quote:
On another note... What would I be classified as? On most all issues I tend to go conservative.. but on some I tend to lean more to the left. |
Quote:
I tend to stay away from politcal books no mater which side they are on. |

Well in most cases republicans will say anything a democrat says is uninformed. But we say the same about republicans so fair is fair.;) |

Only you would care dionysus.;) Seriously I was everyone could just kid around about the politcal thing like me and Mon (alphagamdiva) do. I mean seriously it not like we are going to sway anyone either way, at our ages most people have formed their own beleifs on the issues by now. |

As for the "invaders" -- hey, I am sorry that you were silly enough to use the word "respectful" under a picture of Billy!!! ;) :p  |
Hey Democrats - Not trying to be rude, but I do think there is a thread that is for democrats. I'm hoping to discuss things with other Republicans here, not argue and read arguments. Debate is great, but there's a time and a place and sometime you just don't feel like it!
|
Docet: Are those real pins?? If so where and how would I go about purchasing some?
|
Quote:
I would never have posted here but a few republicans insisted on repling to the democrat thread so as long as they post there I have the right to post here.;) |
Quote:
Also, do a search on google for "Republican Campaign Buttons" There are a ton of 'em out there! |
Hey, Heather, have you checked out our Democrat thread? There are more posts by Republicans than by us - nasty ones, too! And it was just poor Betarulz trying to inform us about something within our own party. Not hurting the republicans at all...
I agree with you, though. It would be nice if we could have some civil discussions with people who share political beliefs without fending off naysayers (Especially the dems as we are looking for a candidate for the next election!). |

Edited to fit free-speech....
{AXO Alum steps up to the box with her head held high and adds the following to her original post...in a sweet Southern drawl of course....} (oh, and sarcasm may appear so please be cautious)
Please be aware that what follows is my opinion -- my as in me, myself, and/or I (although not always implying that the three are one in the same). I as an American citizen of Scot-Irish decent with a background of Southern raising and a mamma who told me to stand up for something or fall for anything, would like to declare that I (and/or me, myself) am proud to be an American. I am proud of the free-speech that I have, when others will let me have it, and I am proud that I am a voting member of the GOP (however this does not mean that I will always agree with conservative views or a political figure because he/she/it may be a member of said party). I believe in pro-life causes (because to me (and/or myself), I believe choice implies letting the baby have a choice), but I do not believe in attacks on abortion clinics. I believe in working hard and helping those in need, but not handing out free-for-alls to the welfare addicts. I believe in working together to make this country a better place, but not in tv ad commercials that spend more time talking about how bad the other person is rather than what the sponsor can do for the country. My views DO NOT represent Alpha Chi Omega - whether expressed or implied. To imply such makes many of us poor representatives of our orgs considering the types of posts made on this forum. Oh, and I also do not group ALL democraTs together -- its just a general term that is used, the same as when people say REPUBLICANS -- see how this works? In closing, I will respect YOUR right to an opinion when you respect MINE....... resume post.... Attention all "fine upstanding people of GC and throughout the world whose eyes my words may fall upon" (censorship is a great thing - someone oughta tell Eminem) .... I have deleted my own posts from the "DemocraTs" forum -- I would never in a million years have thought that such *wonderful, life-loving, get-along-all-the-time* people would get all *concerned* over the questionable RIGHT to FREE SPEECH (leave it to the small yet powerful group of democraT supporters (which would not include any persons who do not consider themselves as such group) who want to make this world a better place to be concerned over this.) In honor of this *victory* by the democraTs, I will hereby attend a cookout in my area where I will be able to participate in the time-honored John Edwards tradition of burning flags and killing babies who are partially born (although they *are* just tissue, and not living beings, right?), and hear such moving testimonials from Howie who has in his oh-so-great-intelligence now declared that the POTUS has the power to change PROPERTY taxes! You know Howie, dang if I didn't think that was an issue decided on by STATE leaders -- I am so glad that you have corrected us all! Of course not ALL democraTs agree with these things - to imply as such would be a generalization, and that is bad - veray veray baaad. And I suppose that I will look forward to the next plane to crash into one of our buildings since the democraTs (those that mentioned this in their own posts that is) are SO *right* about not finding weapons of mass destruction....but I never was so good at hide-and-seek. Some people were just better at hiding especially after being given so much ADVANCE warning through the multiple inspections that the democraTs kept asking for (the ones who are on record as such). You know, if you give a drug dealer just "one more chance" to hide his drugs before the police show up, he'll probably find a way to do it! Now, now, democraTs (the ones that this pertains to) -- PLEASE take this opportunity to respond as this is OUR forum (since you feel compelled to point that out) -- and we will just sit back and LISTEN patiently for you to enlighten us all on your fine policies of economic structure. I hope that I have pleased y'all by being the polite Southern woman that I am....keeping my mouth closed up tight while the rest of y'all tell me what a bad bad person I am. I mean, I never thought that all the replies posted would be so enjoyable. And now I must bid you farewell for a moment or two. I must go check my PM box for a possible "pink slip" as my moderator-ship has been called into question....talk about personal attacks...tsk tsk. (AXO Alum carrying hoop-skirt ballgown as she runs up the stairs to check her PM box)... |

ah ah ah - no replies here...you have your own playground so get to steppin'...... |

don't want this to sound rude or anything, but it just seems like you get way defensive over posts on GC. no need for the hostility.
if someone says something you don't agree with there's no need to pretend we're all in kindergarten again ... we're adults.. in the other thread it really just seemed like the poster you speak of was just kidding around. so why don't we all just chill out .. this is GC.. not the senate house. :) |
Quote:
Aren't you an officer of your sorority as well? I can only shake my head.......you talk of "grown up" people while blasting others with names children would call eachother..... What a day |

I happen to be a "Democrap" - but...get this, I actually AGREE with some Republican ideas and policies, and I feel like Bush has done some things well in his administration. What you've done is paint all Democrats the same way, and probably offended the many of us who are more middle of the road. It is just as offensive to claim that Democrats would "work on some legislation to let Saddam become a US citizen" as it is to blindly criticize Republicans. All Democrats are not hippies, just as all Republicans are not rich money-grubbers. By trying to demean a very marginalized section of the Democratic party, you've overtly insulted the others of us who have been civil in our discussions about policy. I think there are plenty of intelligent, kind and compassionate Republicans who do this country proud - and I think it's a shame that you've said the things you've said and portrayed your party so badly. Just because people are criticizing your party blindly doesn't mean you have to stoop to the same level Hopefully you read this message and took it in the right spirit. Respectfully, Collin Maybe I'm a Democrat, but hell I'm an American too |

My family comes from a Country where they starve their people because of foolish pride. They came here to give me a better life and I thank God everyday. Although I am proud of my Korean heritage, I am a born and bred American, Southern American for that matter. These threads just show how wonderful our country is. We can have our own opinions, make insulting comments, and say WTH we want....and we can't be arrested, killed, or punished. I respect all political backgrounds and views. However, insulting comments are not my thing. Ivory |

Great point, damasa....wow, you really did *show* me a thing or two... |

You don't have to hush, you are allowed to speak freely as you like, but it is tasteless... You are also a moderator of GC.... I usually do respect things you say, but why act so childish now? Seriously Yes you are a chapter advisor, you are a representative of your sorority...I once thought advisors had higher standards....I apologize for thinking such a thing. |
You know what, AXO Alum? I was not even gonna repond to this but your posts have actually truly pissed me off.
How HYPOCRITICAL of you to come on a thread about DEMOCRATS and denounce them and then admonish, NO, verbally ATTACK people who do the EXACT SAME THING! And not only that, but you make sweeping generalizations that all Democrats are this way or that way. You are exactly what is wrong with this country. Your mindset is what prevents us from making any sort of progress. I don't care if you support GW, Clinton, or whoever...with an attitude like yours, we don't need any enemies outside of this country. You prove we still have plenty right here. Bigoted attitudes like yours are the platform for many terrorist groups right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. Am I calling you a terrorist? Absolutely not. I am saying that the mentality you put forth in your posts is remarkably similar to members of the extremist groups who exist here under the guise of "free speech." |
Is this or is this NOT the "Calling all Republicans" thread?? I mean here is a prime example for you people -- you come on here bitching that republicans (I do remember that generalization being made as REPUBLICANS not pointed out to say certain people, KSig) are "invading" your forum for democraTs and that we should stop, yet here you are all up in this forum....
I am just asking people to THINK for a minute -- if it took me "resorting" to the things I said to make you realize that YOU are the ones perpetuating the quote/unquote "problem" then so be it. All I did was put my THOUGHTS and OPINIONS out here in reply to the things I read on the democraTs thread (where I am apparantly not allowed to post considering the replies that were received about us invading the forum). So I am posting HERE in the forum for REPUBLICANS. If this doesn't pertain to you, then go back to your thread and REPLY to mine! See how easy this is? You cannot speak out of both sides of your mouth -- you cannot say on the one hand "you invaded our forum" and then when I move the thoughts here to "our" forum say "you are saying things that we don't like and you are a bad person, a bad representation of AXO, a bad representation of GOP, a bad bad bad person period because we don't like the fact that you put a little heat into things because we want to protect free speech, other peoples not yours, and because we want it to be our way all the way" -- but I guess you CAN do that because you just DID, right?! |
boooo....this is not what i intended at all for this thread......
like tke mentioned earlier, all we want is a lil area to play in with our fellow party members, and if someone wants to JOKE AROUND about another party, fine, but we all must play NICE! good gawd.........if you want to invade, fine....but mind what you say. if you want to get defensive, fine.....but mind what you say. this is a friendly political zone........i can joke with tke/ivory all day long about how they are "democraps" b/c we're cooh with each other and we know it's all in fun......i just really didn't intend for this to get all nasty in a hurry....i only wanted to counter the "calling all dems" thread like i did with those nasty Texans with "non-Texans unite"... ;) anyway, post away about how GREAT being a republican is, post more fun buttons/stickers/pictures about dubya and his fabulousness......keep it all positive. if ya wanna say something bad about a dem, keep it light......please. |
