Thanks for being in my corner y'all!
I started this thread Women of Color in NPC's After seeing the support and reading the responses I decided what the hell...go for it! |
Good Luck Jill! I hope you find your "home". We love to read updates! :D
|
YEA JILL!!!!! Good luck. I hope you find your home :D

Well I got replies:
Group #1: My preferred one. Out of office reply. The person at HQ will not be back until next week. But I have already spoken to someone who is a member of a local chapter. We had dinner the other night and REALLY clicked Group #2: Was originally my third choice but they are now my second. The only problem is right now they don't have a local collegiate chapter...but they are in the running. Group #3. Was originally group #2 for me They did reply to their credit. Their reply: An application for membership is completed by a sponsoring Group 3 and submitted along with two letters of support from Group 3. A letter of support from the alumnae group nearest the candidate's residence is also submitted. After a positive vote from the Council of Group 3 , the candidate is invited to be initiated into membership at a collegiate chapter. Well I am rather new to the area so I don't know any group 3s. Group 1 and 2 seem most receptive So I have narrowed it down to 2 |
Yea, Jill! Welcome to another PNAM (prospective new alumna member.) There are many supportive sisters here to help you along. I have found everyone friendly and caring. They really want to help you find a home.
Lizz (PNAM tinydancer) |
Thanks Lizz!
There are some really great groups that I would love to look into but they don't have chapters in my area...or even alumni chapters |
Good Luck Jill!! :D
I can't wait to hear more. |
Good luck on your AI endeavors! :D :)

Cutie...that is too wild! Are you still active in Beta? I hate this waiting... Group A: I probably won't hear from them before mid next week. The person is out of town until Tuesday Group B: I have recieved an email from, but I know she is on her way to a convention in MY hometown in VA. I wonder if she will have any culture shock! Just anxious to find my home |

Hi Jill!
I'm a regular GCer and I have been a PNAM since 2000! After some ups and downs with one sorority, I eventually found another awesome group to be involved with. Though, just when it looked like I'd reach the goal, I had to move to England for a year and a half! Doh! ;) But, the sisters have been excellent and told me that they wanted me to contact them first thing when I get home to the US. Until then, I get to watch a lot of PNAMs like yourself go though the process and find their homes! :) It sounds like you have some very promising leads! I wish nothing but the BEST for you and can't wait for that happy ending! :D Yeah, the wait to hear back from people can be really long! So, if you ever need to vent, or you want to ask a question that you're too embarassed to ask in the forum, please feel free to PM me. Trust me, I've been there and done that when it comes to being a PNAM! Good luck to you! PNAM, .....Kelly :) |
Kelly,
When will you be back in the US? I am SO hoping to hear from Group A this week http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-057.gif |

I got a great email from group A. http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-001.gif Now to plan my next move! :D |
That's great!! Things are really moving along for you!
|
Woo hoo!!

Yeah! I was pretty psyched. The head office gave me the contact name and email addy for the president of the Alumnae chapter...
I did a draft email and had got a second opinion :D My "editor" is da bomb! I sent an email to the chapter pres this morning... Now waiting for a reply |
Hey Jill - Please clean out your mailbox; I tried to pm you.;)
|
I just cleaned out the box... :D
|
I guess this is the best time to start AI...and the worst
it is the best because it is before fall recruitment. It is the worst because I probably won't hear anything before September (mid July or August if I am lucky) But the good thing is I have some AWESOME women in my corner! http://www.spacespider.net/emo/friends.gif It is hard to be patient.... Have you heard the quote: G-d give me patience and I want it NOW!? http://www.spacespider.net/emo/tantrum.gif I kinda feel that way! Any vibes will be appreciated |
C'mon Jill. No impatience allowed! Things are happening for you! :D
|
Patience is a virtue......
Patience, my pets, patience.
I know that it is not easy to be patient when you are so excited and want to shout it out from the hilltops, but believe me, your progresses sound very encouraging. There are women who have gone AI before you (in various NPCs) who had false starts with groups, or they encountered alumnae who were suspicious of them or "pooh pooh'd" the idea of alumnae initiates (and because of the reception that they got from these alumnae, they had "start anew" from the very beginning) with a different group, thus making their journey to their "home" even lon-n-n-n-n-n-n-nger. Please be grateful that this has not happened to you! Hang in there....when it all comes together, you can shout it from the mountaintops - and not worry, we will all be there to listen and share in your happiness! :D |
Jill,
I LOVE all of your smileys! I know the waiting is tough, but it will pay off and I'm sending positive thoughts your way! :D |
