in other words, why are you in college?

i want to be a psychologist. people's minds are so fascinating!!

I'm thinking I want to be a school psychologist/counselor.

I originally went to college for an education major, but student teaching wasn't meant to be for me, so I'm looking to work with kids without writing lesson plans :p

for as long as i can remember, i have wanted to be a theatre actor......film would be cool and all....and you know i need my own sitcom! ;)....but i love being on stage and performing and just getting to be someone else for a lil while and helping other ppl escape through my escape....

but i'm just kinda in the air right now tryin to figure it all out.....some kind of military life is also appealing to me....as is being a cosmetologist! ;) what a mix all that is.....

I'm still trying to figure it out despite the fact that I graduated from college in 1989!

I'm definitely planning on staying home with my daughters and just doing some freelance public relations consulting when I feel like it until they go away to college. Then I'm seriously considering going back to school to get my aesthetician's license and work with a plastic surgery practice as a paramedical aesthetician.

Or, maybe I'll just sit on my butt and eat Doritos all day! ;) j/k

I want to be a dog breeder. My merchandising degree will come in really handy with that, won't it? :p

Well, I'm going to school to become a teacher just to go back to school for my law degree. Hence, I'll (hopefully) a lawyer working for school boards, protecting teachers/students, or hopefully working for the State Educational Board.


But, if I had my choice I'd just socialize with people all day!

I want to be an astronaut! Wheee!! But to get there I have to do something related, which is aerospace engineering. I'm having tons of fun at my internship at the Cape. Even if I don't make it as an astronaut, I will still enjoy working with the space program.

Theater Education - keeping my love for the stage and childen alive forever!

I ultimately want to get my Phd and be an adolescent psychologist, but I'd also like to work with people who have Multiple personality disorder for a while b/c I think they are so fascinating.

I'm getting a BA in Economics and Political Science, want to get a Masters in Economics a/o Public Policy, and want to get my JD.

I would like to be a lobbyist for IP law or sex education - or work for the Democratic Party (why docetboy and I would never work! :)).

Right now I'm studying Operations Management Science which is actually kind of cool. I don't know what I will do with my degree... I may go into purchasing or something fun like that, or I may even just do a 180 and go into financial planning.

I'm beginning my senior year studying to be a speech pathologist.

Well, I've pretty much KNOWN since I was little that I've wanted to work in entertainment. Not acting or directing, but more of the production side. A TV producer is my dream job, but I need to aim for something a tad more realistic. I went through phases: producer, casting director, etc. I love fashion and I love TV and I wanted a way to combine the two. So right now, I'm really wanting to be the wardrobe stylist on a TV show. Don't laugh... I know it seems kinda lame. But I would do a DAMN good job at it. :) I'm hoping to intern at the WB show What I Like About You (with Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth) next fall and work in the wardrobe department. Very cool!

But yes... my "future" jobs involves me dressing people for a living. Lame, I know. But it would let me combine two of my favorite things and allow me to experiment and try things that I can't do on myself. Plus, if the show became know for its trends (ie: Sex and the City, FRIENDS, Will & Grace, etc), then I'd be the one to blame. :D

Heehee, pretty much. That, or be a pilot. Or rather, most of them come here, and realize they're not cut out for it at all, or are too lazy to actually do any real work. There were 50 AEs freshman year and we're at least down to 30.

And I work at the Cape this summer. It's great! :)

i have always wanted one of two things: a doctor or a jounalist.
so I am getting a degree in Mass Comm and History, and want to go to med school. so I am trying to do both!

I wanted to be an actress for as long as I can remember but, I've fallen behind on the process (I'm not living in LA starving and taking every job that comes along) so I'm gonna keep that as a hobby, and move on to what some would call "a real job" I'm a communications major with journalism minor, working towards a career in PR/Event Promotion. I would love to be behind the scenes on big charity events, fashion shows, award ceremonies and openings. Again, I need to move to LA but at least I don't need an agent.

when i first came to college i wanted to work in the field of criminology...

i'm a junior now and i've decided i want to be a child psychopathologist OR a speech pathologist...

we'll see what happens from here to graduation!;)

I am going to an open house at a local university tomorrow night for a program in Event Management....

My undergrad degree is in Sales and Meeting Management, but I want to get more into the "glamour" events. DC is an area known for big charity events and I want to plan them!

I want to be so rich I don't have to do anything after I'm thirty. I'm currently a PR/Corp Comm major.

I wouldn't mind making a difference. Not quite Bono or Ghandi-sized. But a little social activism to feed my ego and help me feel less guilty about being scrooge-mcduck-rich.

I have to grow up????????

edited to say: while pyschology or criminal justice may be real majors at your school, they are pretty much a joke at mine...don't take it personally, since i'm sure your schools have much better programs in those two areas.

Know what, though? It's better to have a major that you genuinely love. Otherwise, even if the major you chose is an easier one but you're not passionate about it, you'll be miserable.

Besides, a TriDelta with a BS in Marine Biology...just too perfect!

I'm sitting here with a West Highland White Terrier in my lap--who wouldn't want to be around these sweet things all the time? Sure as hell beats grouchy bosses. ;)

Realistically, though, I will probably be heading back to school to get a Master's in merchandising, or go to law school and do the program to get my JD and my MBA at the same time. Or maybe I'll just run off to France...no, wait, I don't like French people...OK, I'll run off to the Netherlands and be a vagrant for the rest of my days. :D

I wanted to be a bounty hunter but they didn't have Bounty Hunting 101 at UHM so I had to give that up.

I'm armed with my BA in Political Science, but it'll be back to school in the Fall as an unclassified graduate student. I hope to be accepted in the graduate school of the College of Education in the Spring.

I want to TEACH :D

Actually, I am seriously considering returning to school also. Unfortunately, tuition is now twice what it was when I was in school last time. :eek:

Seriously, I want to be a parole officer. Still get to go through the how-to-kick-someone's-ass classes and learn to fire a gun, but I'm not a cop. I always wanted to be a counselor of some sort but "Okay Johnny, what do you want to be when you grow up?" isn't quite what I'm looking for.

Well I just graduated with a degree in journalism (broadcast), but I don't want to do anything in that field at all. So, now I'm looking into working in a talent agency for models and actors or doing event planning for entertainment parties.

I thought i knew but i really don't, nor do i care.

I have no plans to grow up. In the meantime, though, I guess I'll keep practicing law.

Law schools don't care a whit what your undergrad major is, with a few exceptions:

-- they don't want a whole school full of poli-sci, history, criminal justice or pre-law majors, and

-- they are aware that some majors are harder or require more discipline than others. Doing well in a more difficult major shows that you are willing to work, study and apply yourself. It's a plus!

Besides, if you major in something you really enjoy, your grades are likely to be better.
