I am not sure if there is a thread devoted to Monty Python before, but I want to start one any. So here it goes! What is your favorite MP moment. It could be a movie or a sketch from the Flying Circus show. Here's mine: The Meaning of Life The Holy Grail Life of Brian The Dead Parrot Sketch Tennis Playing Blancmange Sketch The Royal Hospital of Overacting sketch Terry Gilliam's cartoons are wacky! http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/pyth.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili.../pinkieone.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/lol2.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/laugh2.gif |

There are also plenty of Python influences in the "Veggie Tales" series, including a couple of priceless ones in the Jonah movie. The guy who started "Veggie Tales" is a big Python fan. |
AOIIalum, I agree with all of you choices.
I vaguely remember one: "Dead vicar (or was it bishop) on the landing!" "RC or C of E?" Anyone else remember that? |
I just watched my first ever Monty Python movie last Friday (Life of Brian)....it was so freaking funny! I'm going to have to rent the Holy Grail now and watch it...I couldn't understand why all the guys that were in England with my watched it almost every week! :)

"Argument is the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says" "Yes it is!" "No it isn't" That, and "Oh! I'm sorry, this isn't argument, this is abuse! Try Mr. Barnard, Room 12." |
I remember nearly falling on the floor when I heard the sperm song. :p
|
-- "We've found a witch! May we burn her?!"
-- "Look. Strange women lying about in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. . . . Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Come and see the violence inherent in the system!" -- "Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time." -- "Couldn't I face just a little of the peril?" "No, it would be too perilous." -- "But father. I just want to sing!" -- Traffic Lights -- The Spam Song -- Mary, Queen of Scots -- How to Defend Yourself Againt Someone Weilding a Banana" -- The Book Shop ("Ah, Dickens!") -- "This is an ex-parrot!" -- The Lumberjack Song I could go on and on and on.... |

Did any of you MP fans ever see John Cleese's Fawlty Towers? That is some funny, funny stuff.
|
Yes! They run it on BBC America (watching Graham Norton now, I love him too.)
I have digital cable to get my BBC America fix! |
Okay here are more of my favorites:
The Spanish Inquisition Episode The Gumbys (not the clay guy), especially when one hosted a flower arranging segment Spot the Loony The Fatal Joke When John Cleese said "And Now For Something Completely Different", then Michael Palin says "It's" before the opening music Mary Queen of Scots followed by the exploding Penguin on the telly Ladies Guild Historical Reenactments in mud The Spam Restaurant When Art went on strike http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili.../pinkieone.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/pyth.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/monalisa.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/laugh2.gif |
Update
I am not sure if anyone has seen this at all or not. On VH1, they are showing the series "I Love the 70s". In the 1975 episode, they talk about Monty Python: The Flying Circus show and The Holy Grail Movie. If you haven't seen this episode, don't miss it in the future.

Roger the Shrubber: Are you saying Ni to that old woman?
King Arthur: Um, yes. Roger the Shrubber: Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history. King Arthur: Did you say shrubberies? Roger the Shrubber: Yes, shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber. My name is Roger the Shrubber. I arrange, design, and sell shrubberies. |
