Yay Spurs!!! :)

Well,

After we finally found a bar that had seats open last night, we were able to enjoy the game. Of course, it's always easy to enjoy it when D-Rob is goin off and you've got $1.50 Miller High Lifes to drink (the only miller product i'll drink, cuz hey, its' the champagne of beers :D )

TP flat out outplayed Jason Kidd last night, and K-Mart was NO match for Tim Duncan. The Nets are gonna have to show a WHOLE lot more fire or this series may be done in 4.

GO SPURS GO

Kitso, I beg to differ on Miller Lite. MGD RULES!!!!!!!!

but, back to the program. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan played a great game, but I was more happy for David Robinson. He had one of those "1992-1995" flashback last night : 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocked shots. It was such a lovely sight to see. yes, indeed.:D

Sorry for the Misspelling. If that happens, That'll be great. But you know, don't you agree that the Spurs should create a stature of David Robinson and put in front of the arena, Kitso?

KSigkid 06-05-2003 08:59 PM

I'm saying it's going to be the Nets in 6, DESPITE what happened last night.

I think Kenyon has a better chance of neutralizing Duncan inside than Parker does of stopping Kidd outside. I think Jefferson is just too athletic for the Spurs to handle, and that K-Mart will have a very good series.

It's just a hunch, I really have no allegience in the series.

(Sorry to all you Spurs fans out there)

You know, i'm not trying to start a fight, but i fail to see the logic on how the Spurs can beat 2 of the most talented teams in the NBA, the fakers and the Mavs, but the Nets will suddenly give them trouble.

K-Mart played well last night, and would have been more effective if not for the foul trouble. Parker held his own against kidd, which is all the Spurs need. It's been said that Kidd has no shot, which honestly to me, puts him as less of a threat than Steve Nash. Nash may not be the passer that Kidd is, but he's a helluva better shooter. But that's 2 players. If you focus on Duncan and Parker, you're gonna get beat by Manu, SJax, DRob, or hell, even Steve Kerr. I think the Spurs are just too deep for the Nets to keep up with them over a course of 7 games. After K-Mart, Kidd and Jefferson, where is the Nets threat going to come from? The Nets may have won the east, and won 10 in a row, but that's the EAST my friends. The studs are in the West.

Kobe Bryant is probably the most athletic player in the NBA and ALSO plays with Shaq and the SPURS took care of them as well.

Everyone is jumping on this Nets bandwagon, and i have to believe it's because everyone likes to root for the underdog. I'm not saying its' going to be a sweep by the Spurs, i'm just saying that they will win 4 games before the Nets do. Did you see the Nets on the bench last night, specifically mutumbo? they looked demoralized. The Spurs didn't even play their best basketball and still won by 10.

sigtau, i agree. DRob needs to be memorialized in some fashion at SBC. I haven't made it down there yet, so i don't know if they have yet or not. However the Spurs choose to memorialize DRob, i also want to see reference to his outstanding prescene OFF the court as well. David is the kind of superstar that the public whines that we need more of, but don't pay the due respect to.

Kitso
KS 361 times this series will be over on the night of the 15th, with Duncan winning ring #2 in the SBC center

Good points - my reasoning for picking the Nets wasn't because they are underdogs though - hell, I'm a Yankees fan, so I hate the underdog.

I was just doing it based on a hunch - I'd love to see Duncan win a second title and have David go out with one more...so honestly part of me would rather see the Spurs win. I was just going on my hunch though.

You're right about Robinson - he was that rare kind of superstar who just kinda went about and did his business, completely professional. He never got the respect he deserved for playing as well as he did - I still remember seeing the game where he dropped over 70 (71 I believe?), and it was his type of game: you never really knew how much he was scoring until the game was up.

A hell of a pro, and it'd be cool to see him go out on top, so no disrespect meant for all you Spurs fans with my pick.

Phish is going to perform the first 45 minutes national anthem in NBA final history.

Back to Basketball, as a long time NY Knicks fan, I hope the Nets loose. This series is going to be a good one, I do however see the Nets winning it in game 7. Don't ask how, I just got this vibe.

I'm pretty much the same way, but since my favorite team (the KINGS!!!) are in the western conference and the Spurs didn't beat them in the playoffs, I don't have any problem cheering for them to win it all :)

I can't see how you think Kenyon Martin and Jason Kidd are the "lesser" of the 2 evils between the Nets and Tim Duncan, David Robinson and the rest of the SPURS, but, to each his own i guess.

BTW, my FAVORITE shot from game 3,

There are a lot of people who are talking about Tony Parker for MVP of the series...he's been amazing thus far, I couldn't argue with that.

There's also an article on ESPN where Dan Patrick says that the Spurs SHOULD NOT sign Jason Kidd this summer - what do all the Spurs fans think of that? It brings up an interesting point, in that the Spurs have one of the best young point guards in the game right now; do you sacrifice his confidence to bring in the best point guard in the game?

No. Tony Parker has grown up the last two years and He's doing pretty well. Plus, you have Speedy Claxton as well. I don't think having Jason Kidd would help (Even though It sounds good). The Spurs are pretty much set. like the saying goes: if it ain't broken, why try to fix it?

I'm still hurting over last night's 77-76 loss to the nets. :(

There are HUGE debates on most Spurs forums on whether the SPURS should pursue Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers or try to test Don Sterling and his devotion to Elton Brand of the Clippers. O'Neal would be easier to acquire, he is a FA, while Brand is a Restricted FA, meaning the Clips have the ability to match whatever offer the Spurs make and keep him.

I think most Spurs fans would prefer to see the team sign a big man to replace DRob rather than JKidd. Personally, JKidd's great and all, but TP has lead his team to 2 wins shy of the NBA Championship in his 2nd season. I say you stick with the youth.

As for the Brand vs. O'Neal debate. Brand is more of a replacement for DRob. Not too flashy of a scorer, but VERY solid all the way around and has a complete game. O'Neal offers a substantial offensive threat, and paired with Duncan would give opposing teams fits. You can't double both of them, and if you leave one open he will own you. The down side (if there is one) to O'Neal is that he seems to be a me-first player, concerned with getting his shots and his points. It remains to be seen how Pop could mesh him into the team concept of the Spurs game.

All in all, if O'Neal can be had and made to understand that he and Tim will share the scoring options and he is happy with it, i would love to see him in a Spurs uni. If not, i say the Spurs sign him anyway, let him play next year, and then organize a trade to bring in Brand when he's unrestricted.

Kitso,

The Clippers have no devotion. none. At the Start of the Season, after they traded Darius Miles for Andre Miller, they thought that this team was ready to go to the playoffs, But once again, the team was a big bust. They haven't done anything to help themselves reach their goals. Seems the Clippers' Management Staff needs to look in the mirror and ask themselves are they really devoted to making the Clippers a winning franchise or just continue their collecting the top draft picks. If they let Elton Brand go to the Spurs, I say Cool. Brand deserves better.

i agree sigtau, but there's a lot of people on the boards who think that for some strange reason, probably nothign more than to aggravate the Spurs, that sterling will retain Brand.

if it was any other owner in the NBA, i'd say to hell with the Restricted thing, offer the contract and take your chances. The way that you can't predict Sterling makes me think it my be a tricky situation. Unless of course you can sway sterling with draft picks, none of which will be lottery in the Spurs forseeable future.

That is common among giants. George Murisan 7'7" of the old Washington Bullets. Andre the Giant 7'4" had the same thing. There is a guy named Matt that is an occasional guest on the Howard Stern show. He is about 7'4" and he has the worlds largest feet. He has the same condition.

I don't know the medical term for the condition but I think they have some sort of gland that causes them to grow extremly large. One of the characteristics of this condition is an unusually deep voice.

I honestly could not tell you, since I don't follow basketball that closely, but I *will* tell you that the guy in Linkin Park who sings "Somewhere I Belong" sounds like Oscar the Grouch, ESPECIALLY when he gets to the chorus part where it goes:

I want to heal
I want to feel
What I thought was never real
I want to let go of the pain I've held so long
[Erase all the pain 'til it's gone] I want to heal
I want to feel
Like I'm close to something real
I want to find something i've wanted all

Listen to it and tell me that it isn't so!!
