Summer Fun Poll: What is your favorite amusement park?

I have not been to an amusement park since the 90s, lol, but may go this summer.

Which are your faves to go?

Mine will ALWAYS be GEAUGA LAKE (bump dat 6 Flags) in Aurora, Ohio.

DableST_1 05-26-2003 11:02 PM

Good Question......

I love SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA!!!! I remember once I went to just six flags it was in St. Louis, and SIX FLAGS is nothing like the Six Flags Geat America in Gurnee Il. It's Three times bigger, and there is a lot more rides!!!!

Also, I love Islands of Adventure in Orlando, and I will be going there for my first year anniversary!!! We had so much fun there on the honeymoon, we decided to go back!!!!:D

CrimsonTide4 05-26-2003 11:05 PM

I want to add the DISNEY that is in Florida . . . I believe it is Disney World. I would include all the parks we went to in Orlando for senior trip 1993.

ClassyLady 05-26-2003 11:08 PM

Local Parks:

Great Adventure
Dorney Park
Wildwood, NJ
Dutch Wonderland

Nationwide:

Disney World
Universal Studios
Universal Studios Islands of Adventure
Kings' Dominion

Dionysus 05-26-2003 11:11 PM

Six Flags Mid America

RedefinedDiva 05-26-2003 11:21 PM

Six Flags New Orleans (I'm an amusement park amateur! :D )

ModelSF 05-26-2003 11:32 PM

I'm with CT4, I used to love the old Geauga Lake. Now my favorite is Cedar Point.

Oh and Universal Studios in Florida is the best :D

Kisha 05-26-2003 11:42 PM

Hey Err Body!!!

My favorite theme park is Six Flags Great America in Illinois. I've been to several other six flags, but none compare to the original in Gurnee.

Universal Studios, Kings Dominion and Cedar Point are ok too.

tnxbutterfly 05-26-2003 11:53 PM

Disneyland was ok but Cedar Point will always be my favorite amusement park

9dstpm 05-27-2003 11:07 AM

DISNEY WORLD!!!!! I love me some Disney World!! Hubby and I went there for our honeymoon and it was the BEST!!! :D

This summer, however, we will be going to Cedar Point. I guess if our church is going to go to King's Island this summer we'll go as long as our $$ is right and we are off work that day.

I love Six Flags, too. Used to go every summer in the 80's and 90's until I had my son in 95. Hubby and I want to take son to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Cleveland, OH at some point.

zetafg 05-27-2003 11:22 AM

My favorite is Six Flags Great Adventure, in New Jersey and Rye Playland in Rye, NY.

Sorry, I've never been to Disney World :(

;)

Ideal08 05-27-2003 11:24 AM

Geauga Lake was, is, and will always be BUNK!!! It got some new rides since becoming Six Flags, but it still can't get with Cedar Point!!

Cedar Point is where it's at!!!!!!!! (amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio)

NUPE4LIFE 05-27-2003 04:11 PM

Six Flags Over Georgia and Universal Studios Islands of Adventure!

Gyrl7 05-27-2003 04:24 PM

I like Great Adventure it's a cool amusement park. At zetafg, chal if Playland didn't have so many bee's in the summer that would be my number one choice. It seems like they have a bee's nest everywhere.

Miss. Mocha 05-27-2003 04:39 PM

I was just at Great America a few weeks ago, and let me tell you...it's time for a renovation. The booths and stores look exactly the same as they did when I used to go there with the block club (back in the early 80s).

UPDATE THAT JOINT!!!

As far as amusement parks with roller coasters and whatnot, Cedar Point, is without a doubt, The Roller Coast -- I've had MANY class trips, church trips, etc to Cedar Point. I always find it funny that I run into someone I know EVERY time I'm there.

But nationally, Universal Studios is my favorite. A trip to Orlando isn't the same without a day at Universal Studios and riding Back to the Future.

9dstpm 05-29-2003 04:57 PM

Hubby and I just found out that the Cedar Point Express will be running again this summer!!! :D CPE is a charter bus that leaves from Saginaw on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to take people to Cedar Point. It usually runs from mid-June through Labor Day and will cost almost $70 this summer.

We wanted to go last summer but he worked on Sundays and I had summer school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. :( The first run of CPE will be on June 17th and Hubby and I will be on the bus!! We can't wait!!!

aquafina03 05-29-2003 06:52 PM

Well...there's a new one that out's this summer, called the Top Thrill Dragster...420 feet tall.

ModelSF 05-29-2003 10:01 PM

Yeah, I've rode the Millenium Force, and I'm looking forward to riding that new one.

I haven't been to Six Flags since it changed from Geauga Lake. Does anyone know if they still have Raging Wolfbob (sp?) or the Double Loop? Those rides were WORE OUT!!! If they still have them, something is definitely wrong...

We never made it INSIDE GEAUGA LAKE 6FLAGS but go to
http://www.sixflags.com/parks/worlds...ture/index.asp to find out all the rides, but I believe the Double Loop (my first roller coaster ride in 1986) is still there.

Yes, the Raging Wolfbobs is still there, shaky and all! I rode it last summer. The problem with Geauga Lake (Six Flags, whatever) is that it's too small to accommodate all the rides they want to put in there. So instead of the park growing, they tear down rides to put up new ones. But that Superman ride is OFF DA CHAINS!!!!!

Ok, I haven't been to Cedar Point in about 3 years or so. I'ma hafta go and ride these new coasters. I LOVE ROLLER COASTERS!!! I'm going to go this summer. I had no idea people travelled to go to Cedar Point. I figured it was a Ohio and Michigan thing.

They seriously need to get rid of that shaky mess!! I remember when the Double Loop used to get stuck midway through one of the loops. That's when I knew it was time to retire that one.

I haven't been to Cedar Point in a while either. Hopefully I'll have time to go this summer. I didn't know so many people travelled to Cedar Point from outside of Ohio and Michigan either. I know a couple of people from Western NY that I go to school with knew about it and I was surprised that they did.

I'm so sorry to have to bring this thread back up, but the FOX affiliate here has been running a Cedar Point Express giveaway for the last few weeks or so. They would flash the secret word during "The Simpsons" and then you would have to go to their website and e-mail them the word with your info and they would draw a winner for two tickets for the bus and the park the following day.

Guess what?? I WON!!!!!! :D :D :D Just when Hubby and I were trying to figure out how to scrape up the $$ for all three of us to go this summer, I got a letter from the station telling me that I had won the previous day's drawing!!! So now all we have to do is buy our son's ticket for the park and the bus and we are all set for a day at Cedar Point!!! What a blessing!!

Be Careful

I know this is a happy thread you guys, but please be careful at these parks. My cousin just recently passed away because of an accident on one of the rides at Six Flags New Orleans. Sad thing is her granson was there and will never forget it. from what the family understands the ride's operator wasn't paying enough attention and she was crushed by one of the cars.
