What's your favorite Greek item you have?

What would you say, out of all the greek stuff you have, is your favorite thing and why? ...i.e...t-shirts, necklace, ring, etc.

AlphaFrog 05-25-2003 07:47 PM

I have 4 favorite things...my bidcard, my candle from initiation, and our new member class gifts from Delta Zeta and Tri-Sigma...they are all just special in different ways

josh8o 05-25-2003 08:05 PM

1. my badge...i love wearing it, and it means a lot to me
2. my first set of letters. they were a gift to myself since my big bro was abroad when i got initiated
3. my phi phi bottle opener kry chain...it was a gift from my twin on big sis/lil bro night

docetboy 05-25-2003 08:16 PM

The poster I recieved after initiation...

CatStarESP4 05-25-2003 08:37 PM

I have a teddy bear with sequins wearing a shirt saying "I Love Epsilon Sigma Phi". I call her E. Siggie Phi. I showed her to some of my sisters and they wanted to know where I got her. Also, I have a lavalier with my letters that I used to wear all the time until my chain broke! I love anything I have with my letters on them! http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/monalisa.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/cool.gif

LeslieAGD 05-25-2003 08:45 PM

My Afghan or my lavalier

OUlioness01 05-25-2003 08:46 PM

my lavalier....i never take it off.

DZHBrown 05-25-2003 08:50 PM

Hmm, hard one!!
My badge - obviously very special!!
My college ring also has my letters on it, and I'm very proud of the ring.
I also love my scrapbooks/picture frames.
I lost my favorite shirt :(

honeychile 05-25-2003 10:37 PM

My framed copy of our Creed.

It's one of the first things noticed in my tv room, and I think I've caught everyone who's been to my house reading it! It makes it that much easier to explain why I became a greek: "Did you read our Creed?" "Yes." "Well, I believe in it - every word!"

Also, my pin(s). My initiation pin will always be the most special to me, and has my dangles on it, but I have two others (one set as a ring) that I love, too. Just pinning it on makes me feel at one with all of my sisters since 1851!

Unfortunately, a bracelet that had been presented to me as "Sister of the Year" is lost. :( If I can't find it soon, I would seriously consider having one made, as it was one of a kind, and I was SO proud of it!

AlphaSigOU 05-25-2003 11:00 PM

Still have my badge (though the chapter guard chain broke :( , the paddle my big brother gave me and one of the (in)famous champagne bottles (empty, of course! :) ) that we all got drunk on celebrating our initiation. It now holds inside my initiation scroll, signed by all who performed and witnessed my initiation into Alpha Sigma Phi.

BTW, the champagne was the cheapest, nastiest, foulest-tasting swill on earth! But it was good and cold, and after the second bottle we could care less! ;) :) :p :D

breathesgelatin 05-25-2003 11:18 PM

ARG!

It's a tossup between my Pi Phi piggy bank and my canvas letter bag!

Tom Earp 05-25-2003 11:36 PM

First would be the Coat of Arms Signed by the Ritual Team from Ks. State who initiated me, My Badge, The Local Composite that I started, and The Charter that I have in my keeping until we get a new house built!!

Do I care about My Fraternity, Damn Skippy!:)

Roseblum15 05-25-2003 11:53 PM

I also have a few items which are my favorites...

1. My Jacket
2. My lavelier... if I could find it since moving back home. It was passed down from my big sis.
3. A wooden box with our letters on it. It was a birthday gift and was one of the first things with letters on it that I received.

PhiSigXXX 05-25-2003 11:57 PM

Mine would have to be my lavalier...i got it from my big sis..she'll never know how much she means to me

I think mine would have to be my paddle. I was lucky enough to get TWO beautiful little sisters in the fall, and we have a wonderfully close bond. They are two of my dearest friends, and I was so happy to have them as littles.

They made me a HUGE paddle, with stars on it, and a poem one of them wrote on the back. I absolutely love it, I was so happy when they gave it to me. :)

GeekyPenguin 05-26-2003 12:15 AM

Since I still don't have a badge...
  • My lavalier (I have a different styled one than most, and I love it...GPBoy gave it to me for Christmas and it is on a chain my dad gave me)
  • My heart-shaped silver pin box with Swarkovski (sp?) crystals - also from GPBoy
  • Pink Gamma Phi frame that I got from my sister-mom for initiation - has a picture of my pledge class on Formal Pinning in it

PixieChickMTSU 05-26-2003 12:18 AM

AW! all these things sounds so great! :)

KappaKittyCat 05-26-2003 12:35 AM

Favorite things
1. My badge (duh).
2. My bid card & Initiation certificate-- I'm getting them framed together.
3. My Initiation book- It's got a page made by each member of the chapter and was given to me at my Initiation.
4. My Kappa picture frame that's got a photo of my big & me at my pledging in it-- also given to me at Initiation.
5. My Convention 2002 Charm-- We get charms at each Convention; some people have them made into bracelets. I've only got one (so far), and I wear it with my lavalier.

Most often worn/used things
1. My Kappa tattoo
2. My Kappa flip-flops.
3. My Kappa windbreaker.

Peaches-n-Cream 05-26-2003 12:45 AM

1. My badge
2. the sweatshirt that my big sister gave to me at initiation although I haven't worn it in years
3. The DFE ring that my mother gave to me one Christmas

GPhiBLtColonel 05-26-2003 12:52 AM

Mine are.....

...1) my badge and all the attached dangles etc

2) a gold and silver beaded Gamma Phi Beta bracelet that another Gamma Phi made and sold (in mass quantity and many styles) for her alum chapter at our recent convention - I wear it all the time -- even had this sister make a red and green glass beaded Gamma Phi bracelet made to wear during the holidays!

3) my Southern Cal class ring I bought for a HUGE chunk o' change back in 1976 -- I had it made special with my greek letters GFB proudly emblazoned across the garnet stone -- I very very rarely take it off!

This is a fun topic:)

Peaches-n-Cream 05-26-2003 12:54 AM

Another one of my favorite greek items is the paddle that my little sister gave to me when she was initiated. :)

I never take mine off either. I love it so much.

The other thing I love is the butterfly shaped candle holder. It's shaped like a butterfly and the wax is of our colors. It was one of my new member gifts.

jharb 05-26-2003 01:05 AM

*My Pi Phi bracelet with the arrow through a heart toggle that my mom got me
*My paddle that my big sis gave me
*My badge
*My Pi Phi flip flops
*My Pi Phi windbreaker

heck...just about anything with letters on it! lol! :D

FAB*SpiceySpice 05-26-2003 01:05 AM

My favorite thing would definately be my lavalier. I never take it off unless where I am going isn't um, an appropriate place to wear it (ie. a bar...)

Other things I love *almost* as much would be...

*My stuffed lion that my DG friend Rachel made me when I got initiated, she made it at Build-A-Bear and it growls when you push his tummy, and he has a pink bow in one ear and a white one in the other, oh yea and a pink bandana around his neck. :D

*My Phi Mu flip flops....sooo comfy

*My Phi Mu-FIJI greek week t-shirt from last year....fav shirt ever!!! A close runner up is our crush party t-shirt from the DG, Tri Delt, G Phi, Phi Mu crush party this year

*The red shorts that I designed and had made as formal party favors....sooooo comfy, I love 'em! They have our logo for formal on the front and then our greek letters on the butt....very cute!

Ahh! I have SO much fun Phi Mu stuff, I could sit here and go on FOREVER b/c I love it all so much, but I'll quit my yapping now. :)

I am not sure -- the alum chapter that sold them at Convention was from Iowa -- where can I see the ones Chicago is selling?

They are from Iowa...it was ladies at Chicago who were working the table at the time.

The actual website, www.identitybeads.com, appears to be down right now.

GPhiBLtColonel 05-26-2003 02:00 AM

HotDamnImAPhiMu 05-26-2003 02:01 AM

I have one of those lavileres that makes a circle, and I love it.

Plus, my Kappa Sigma gave me one of those watercolors on e-bay. I just looked and there isn't one up now... but it's a bunch of pink carnations and underneath the words, "having a sister means never standing alone." beautiful.

That is the bracelet I was thinking of getting, because I ordered the two-tone badge! :) I want to get more Gamma Phi jewelry, I am thinking of asking for a ring from my parents for my birthday.

Those are so cute! Ours always get listed together due to the pink carnation thing, and I love them.

My favorite Greek items are:

My badge with all its dangles and initiation certificate (of course)

The wooden desk sign my father made me with my letters on it

The wooden Tiki my father made with the Phi Sigma Sigma letters (all my chapter sisters have them now and a couple of sisters from other chapters have bought them as well).

My Archon's key charm received at the end of my term as Archon

Carolyn

My badges

My scrapbook

My AOII signet ring, they don't make the one I have anymore. I wear it every day and love it.

My Grandbig's lavaliere (given to me for initiation)

My pewter Chi O frame that has a pic of me and my big on big/little revelation night!

My bid day pictures and tshirt and my pledge class shirt

My "Welcome to the Nest" door owl

What is a shingle? My daughter depledged herself, so my branch of the family tree ends there.

DZHBrown 05-26-2003 05:39 PM

Betarulz - I love my shingle! I hadn't thought of that when I was listing my favorites. I've been wanting to frame it for the longest time.

GeekyPenguin - Some people call their membership certificate a shingle. I was confused when I heard that for the first time, too!

Aah ok! At first I thought they made shingles instead of paddles, which seemed really goofy!
