Oh now i know. I hope Rod comes back healthy. Its almost like Bob isn't there. I hope thats not next.
|
I'm shocked! I thought that show has been off the air for years.

Oh that is sad. I had no idea. I too hope he comes back happy and healthy. I used to watch that show with my grandmother too, and when I was a freshman, my whole house would gte together at lunch time and watch it togther. |
It depends on the day -- being a stay-at-home-mom who has a kid that LOVES TPIR, I get to watch it pretty often. I too miss Rod -- Burton is just LAME LAME LAME! But you never know when it will be Rod or him. Burton also announces the night time versions, which is why I NEVER watch them!
By the way, it is my DREAM to go on TPIR and say: This is AXO Alum and Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population - have your pet spayed or neutered! He is my HERO!! |
Random fact of the day:
Bob Barker, Sigma Nu Alumnus -- Epsilon Beta Chapter, Drury.

It is the longest running show. I love TPIR!! I know a couple of people that have gone on the show, and some of the catches in winning the prizes bummed me out, but I still wanna get on. Clock Game and the one with the yodeling mountain climber are the best (and I think easiest) games!!
|
Plinko is the best if i got to play plinko on that show i could die a happy man.

I think we should have a GC convention near where TPIR is filmed and all go on - we could fill the studio with Greek letters! |

OMG, I loooooved the mountain climber game!
I too watched TPIR with my grandmother. Hot dogs, chicken noodle soup, and TPIR all go together in my mind, cause I alway watched it at lunchtime. |
On June 26, my friend Krystal is on the Price is Right, they prerecorded it over our spring break, she made it on stage and won lots of prizes! She is an Alpha Gam here, and from what I hear she is representin with some letters! Check her out!
|
I can't remember if we saw this at another chapter or made it up ourselves, but we want to go on in shirts that say "GAMMA PHI BETA: Barker's Beauties in Training"
|
I would give my left eye to go on TPIR. I have ALWAYS watched it (although I haven't in recent days). I'm sorry to hear about Roddy, though.
And I know I'm in the minority, but I HATE Plinko LOL. My favorite is the Golden Road. Next, the Dice Game, the Card Game, and the game with the 7 $1 dollar bills. And the cliff hanger, I love that song, La-di-dootie-la-di-dootie-la-di-dootie-laaaaa LOL. |

Cliffhanger rules! |
I went to The Price is Right! It's INSANE how long you have to wait in line to get on that show... Very surreal experience.

BTW - As a child, I was always terrified when the climber dude went off the top. I thought somewhere there was a real mountain climber dude that really fell off a mountain. lol |
Sorry to sound so random but every time I hear "The Price Is Right" it reminds me of Happy Gilmore and when Bob and Happy go at it on the golf course: "The Price is Wrong B%ITCH". LMAO! A RIOT!
I enjoy watching TPIR too sometimes...hell I end up watching the ending mostly because my sopa (the Young and the Restless) is on afterwards. I love it when Bob whips out the golf club to putt that classic hole in one...lol! |
Rod Roddy Passed Away
I was so sad to read this. I loved watching this show.
'Price Is Right' Announcer Rod Roddy Dies By RYAN PEARSON, AP Rod Roddy battled cancer for more than two years. LOS ANGELES (Oct. 28) - Rod Roddy, the flamboyantly dressed announcer on ''The Price is Right'' whose booming, jovial voice invited lucky audience members to ''Come on down!'' for nearly 20 years, died Monday. He was 66. Roddy, who suffered from colon and breast cancer, died at Century City Hospital, according to his longtime agent, Don Pitts. He had been hospitalized for two months. ''He had such a strong spirit. He just wouldn't give up,'' Pitts said Monday. Roddy had been ill for more than two years but tried to work as long as he could, said Bob Barker, host of ''The Price is Right.'' Roddy had been with the game show for 17 years. ''The courage he showed during those difficult times was an inspiration to us all,'' Barker said in a statement Monday. Barker recounted a recent visit to his friend: ''I went to the hospital and sat on the edge of his bed and we laughed the whole time we were talking. He was still having fun.'' Roddy's announcing stints included ''Love Connection'' (1981-85) and ''Press Your Luck'' (1983-86), but ''The Price is Right'' earned him his greatest fame. ''The Price is Right'' remains one of television's most popular game shows, and Roddy, with his flashy sport coats and booming voice, was a big part of the success. ''He started wearing those jackets when he joined the show,'' Barker said. ''He was quite a character. He was important to the success of the show. He had the spirit of 'The Price Is Right.' It's a fun show. We did it with the hope people will forget their problems for awhile.'' Roddy, whose real name was Robert Ray Roddy, was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas, Pitts said. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University and a popular disc jockey in Texas when he decided to expand his career in Hollywood, his agent recalled. Roddy's versatility made him a popular voice-over artist for commercials in Los Angeles, Pitts said. He got his big break in television with the 1977-81 satire ''Soap.'' Disc jockey Casey Kasem, who was the first announcer on the risque series, decided he did not want to stay with it and asked Pitts if he knew someone who could take over. ''I said, 'I've got a guy who's terrific,''' Pitts said. ''Rod started with 'Soap' and then his career took off.'' Roddy, who taped his last show about two months ago, had colon cancer surgery on Sept. 11, 2001, and his left breast removed last March. The diseases appeared under control following chemotherapy but flared up again, Pitts said. The two cancers, which Roddy had said were unconnected, prompted him to become a spokesman for early detection. ''I could have prevented all this with a colonoscopy and, of course, that's the campaign I've been on since I had the first surgery,'' he said in a recent interview on a CBS Web site. Breast cancer, although typically associated with women, is diagnosed in about 1,500 American men a year, Roddy said in the CBS interview: ''To everybody out there, 'Get a mammogram!' It can happen to men, too.'' Roddy was single. The only family member he talked about was his mother, who died several years ago, Pitts said. Private funeral services will be held in Texas, with a memorial service planned in Los Angeles in several weeks, CBS said. 10-28-03 0527EST Copyright 2003 The Associated Press. Price is Right is my favorite show on television -- let me tell you why
It is the only thing you will ever see where everybody is happy. The winenrs are happy, the losers are happy, the audience is happy. It is what heaven should feel like. |
