Lebron James

Why can't i get a deal like his possible $100 mil shoe deal from Nike

I'm not asking for much.

bethany1982 05-22-2003 10:03 AM

Take it to the rim!

KEPike 05-22-2003 12:45 PM

I doubt he will sign with Nike...they will get Kobe and Carmelo Anthony instead.

Lebron is going to sell alot of shoes, but then will go out on his own ala Shaq and Chris Webber and flop. They'll call his gear BronWear or something stupid like that and sell it at K-Mart.

I hope it doesn't take him too long to become decent because the NBA needs him to ressurect the Cavs or Knicks or whomever wins the lottery tonight.

steelepike 05-22-2003 12:48 PM

Nope its Nike its been reported by ESPN for a 7 year deal. yeah the Knicks need some help.

moe.ron 05-22-2003 12:51 PM

the Knicks does not need help, they need a miracle. God I miss the Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniel days.

LXAAlum 05-22-2003 01:04 PM

It would be nice if Denver had an NBA team - Lebron could help.

What passes for the Denver Nuggets would most likely lose to most of the high schools in Denver....

KEPike 05-22-2003 01:04 PM

Yeah, so Nike is going to have all three then, wow.

RedFox 05-22-2003 02:09 PM

I met Lebron AND Carmelo

Lebron and Carmelo will get great deals some how...I met them and a bunch of others (got pictures with them too!) at the Capital Classic this past year (I'm from Washington, DC) and they are both so down to earth and really underneath all the hype, true, nice, 18 year olds (Carmello didn't play of course, but he was there to support Lebron)...they are amazing players and I hope they continue to do what they love to do :)

sigtau305 05-22-2003 03:45 PM

I'm keeping my fingers cross for tonight. The Cavs better get one of them.

Peaches-n-Cream 05-22-2003 05:58 PM

I heard that James will have a $90 million deal with Nike. How on earth will he be able to make ends meet wih only $90 million? I wish that had such problems. :p

The1calledTKE 05-22-2003 07:03 PM

He ain't no Michael Jordan what a rip of for nike. Hope he turns out to be the next Jordan

Tom Earp 05-22-2003 10:40 PM

Who cares?

I am prejudice! I hate TALL PEOPLE

AGDLynn 05-22-2003 11:06 PM

I personally find this riduc..okay stupid, lol!! He is a high school kid!! The companies and teams are going to bankrupt themselves by paying higher and higher salaries for younger and younger players.

Just as the size of the engagement ring doesn't guarantee the quality and length of a marriage, neither do sports/merchandise contracts and length of quality playing career.

Yes this is why sports is in for a world of hurt sooner or later, its gonna catch up with them.

Peaches-n-Cream 05-23-2003 12:30 AM

He is a first round draft pick for the Cavs.

A Xavier McDaniel reference...priceless.

The team that's gotten the best out of this deal are the Pistons. They're the Eastern Conference champs, and have the second pick in the draft (Memphis had to send Detroit their pick as part of a 1997 trade for Otis Thorpe).

Now Detroit can add someone like Anthony, as the team really needs another scorer.

Can't remember another time when such a good team got such a high pick (except maybe San Antonio getting TIm Duncan just because David Robinson had missed most the season).

Still got my Anthony Mason jersey and Anthony Mason carwash t-shirt somewhere. LOL

Used to own Ewing shoes, damn those thing were heavy.

Hopefully Lebron can take some correspondence courses while in Cleaveland. Last night on ESPN he said he thought it would be "more better" that he was staying close to home so his family could see him play a lot. Course, with 90 mil I guess you don't need to worry about having an education to fall back on...

steelepike 05-23-2003 12:57 PM

yeah with $90 mill i would stop going to school, wait no i wouldn't i would just not work once i got out in 6 years.

Got you beat...I've got a Hubert Davis Knicks jersey - and have no idea why.

sigmanuzk 05-25-2003 03:41 PM

What would an eighteen year-old do with that much money? I'm imagining something really stupid and extravogant like 50 cars with little tiny tv's and playstations, and like 30 in. wheels. I find the fact that he could buy pretty much anything he wants but he's not old enough to buy a beer quite humorous.
