Linda Foster -- Elvis's exgirlfriend

Does anyone know what sorority she was in when she was at the University of Memphis?

ilovemyglo 05-12-2003 05:46 PM

Not an AGD!

Well, the choices there (today) are:
AGD, Phi Mu, ADPi, DG, KD, Pi Phi, SK.

Maybe others were there, back in the day.

Do you sure her last name is "Foster"? I couldn't find anything about a Linda Foster, but this did come up...

Thompson is her maiden name.

When she was married to athlete Bruce Jenner, she was Linda Thompson Jenner. After marrying composer David Foster, I think she changed it to Linda Foster, but she could be Linda Thompson Foster too.

One is probably Miss Tennessee for the Miss America pageant and the other is Miss Tennessee for the Miss USA pageant. (I know we've had the America-USA discussion here before somewhere.)

Linda was Miss Tennessee USA in 1972.

Great sleuthing, SigK_Bama! ;)

honeychile 06-07-2003 10:49 PM

Good sleuthing, indeed!

Dubious distinction, but good sleuthing! ;)

"Yeah, one of our sisters was living with Elvis Presley when he decided to take too many drugs, read some porn, and die in the bathroom..."

That breeze you feel is from a few Methodist ministers' daughters who founded Alpha Delta Pi spinning in their graves!

You know what would be an interesting - and humbling! - thread? Infamous greeks! I now know of at least two...

But it couldn't get mean spirited, just a simple listing of greeks who became, well, infamous.

It's amazing what you can find on GC if you do a little digging! I was wondering about Ms. Thompson-Jennings-Foster's Greek affiliation myself before I happened to stumble upon this thread.

I remember in an interview with Larry King about two years ago (around the time of "Elvis Week") Linda told how Elvis used to sing some of her old sorority songs. That would've been a hoot to witness!!

Linda seems like such a sweet lady, and from all accounts I've read, is thought of very highly by all the different Elvis factions who've written books, given interviews, etc.

The only real objection I would have with her - since I'm such an admirer of Elvis's ex-wife Priscilla - would be how she is on the record as saying how much more compatible she and Elvis were because they were both from the South, how he should've married someone from the South, blah blah blah....but she ended up leaving him too after four years for pretty much the same reasons (if not worse reasons!) than why Priscilla left him!

Interetingly enough, one of my sorority sisters happens to be Ann-Margret, who had an affair with Elvis when Priscilla was dating him. Sorry Cilla!! :(

Thanks for letting me indulge my Elvis-geekiness!!

That's definitely interesting!

Hey girls! My best friend's grandmother took Takewondo (sorry about the spelling!) with Elvis. She has group photos from her class. She used to live in Memphis but now she lives in Hot Springs AR.

I'm trying to picture Elvis crooning Little ADPi, or Remember Your ADPi Girl, and somehow, it's not working for me!

Elvis--TKE

Elvis was initiated into Beta Psi chapter of TKE at Arkansas State,
having some old buddies already in the chapter. He did not go to
school there. He did keep a lot of TKE stuff, and his signature of
membership is one of the few in existence using all three of his
names. TKE still has that scroll and a goodly number of photos of
his initiation & subsequent events. He visited the chapter many
times. Arkansas State Tekes can tell many tales of his visits.

Okay, now I'm thinking about the possible fund raising possibilities lost here! "Elvis Sings - for Sorority!"

honeychile, you're hilarious!!

There weren't any ADPi's at my college so I'm not familiar with any of their songs, but I can imagine how it must have been when he sang them, and I still think it's funny! :D

I did not know this!! As an Elvis geek, that is very interesting to me...thanks for sharing Erik P Conard!!

I've read many books and seen many movies about Elvis, it's funny this wasn't mentioned before (even briefly). That's so cool!

His step-brother wrote a book about fifteen years ago and mentioned that he and some high school buddies voted in Elvis as an honorary member of their high school "fraternity", but I've never heard about Elvis's involvement in a "real" college fraternity.
