Are You Straight??? Or Are You Curly???
The thread about thermalreconditioning got me to thinking how we women are rarely happy with our hair! Let me ask you...
Do you have straight hair? or Do you have curly hair? Are you happy with what you have? or would you change if you could? I personally have dark, stick straight hair, cut into a just-below-the-chin bob. I like my hair (color, texture) but I wish it were a td longer. And there are days I wish I could just have a headful of glorious curls like Minnie Driver or Nicole Kidman! |
Right now my hair is long and wavy and auburn. When I get a haircut this week, it will be very curly. It is sort of like Julia Roberts' hair in Pretty Woman. :)
When I was a young girl, I hated having red hair. It was bright red back then. It was so different from everyone else. I have liked my hair since I accepted the color and texture. My sister has hair like Minnie Driver or Nancy Kerrigan. It is very curly. |
i have the longest hair i have ever had right now (lil past the ol' bra strap).....and, for the moment, it is kinda black. i've been auburn, bleach (yes, i said bleach....everyone put their eyes back in, it happens to the best of us) blonde, highlights, red, brunette....black was the only "natural" color i hadn't been yet, so that's why it is what it is right now. i think it's kinda cool since my eye color is such a pale blue. cat woman! yeow! :p
my hair is straight, but it will get kinda kinky (no comments ;) ) if i don't blow it dry. not too thick, not too thin......i think i like my hair. yay! if i want it curly, i bust out some gel and a diffuser, but that doesn't happen often. most of the time i just bust out some curlers. |
I have straight thick hair that is layered and mid back length. It is black with gold and copper highlights.
My hair is weird for "Asian hair", it holds curls easily. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. Some days I'm like damn, I love you! Next day, I'm like, F*CKKKKK! |
Naturally I have like the Curly Sue type of hair. However, I usually wear it straight, it's more cute curlier, but it is sooooo hard to manage.
|
I have shoulder-length, dark, thin, wavy/curly hair. It gets on my nerves! If my hair could be thicker, I'd be happy.
|
I have straight hair, and it's thick but very fine. I'm growing it out right now and it's okay. Back in the day, I used to get perms *yeeeeek!!* but I would NEVER do that again. I'm generally happy with my hair the way it is, but I wish it could look cute without blowdrying it.
|
curls all the way baby!! Natural, and love them, thanks to the stars who stopped blowing out curls for that stick straight look.
|
i'm now back to my natural haircolor which is a rich medium shade of brown. i've naturally had red hair (at birth), black hair (preschoolish), and blonde hair (around 6th grade) and when my hair finally decided to remain one color for the rest of my life i started dyeing it. It's had red, green, blue, pink, and purple streaks and some point or another, and i've dyed it completely red and completely blonde (that one was for 3 years :( ) Otherwise my hair is thick but fine, usually bone straight but it can get a little frizzy, and it's been short for so long that it likes to curl itself under or out at whim, although i've grown my hair almost to my shoulders now and it kinda looks funny.
|
Stick straight, dark, dark brown hair with some lighter brown highlights. It's cut in a very layered bob that's just about chin-length, though in about 24 hours it'll be a few inches shorter :)
I've had short hair since my sophomore year of high school, when I quit doing the "big" hair. It's much more flattering to my round face. Plus, my hair is WAY too thick to deal with long! |
i have curly black hair. i seriously dont mind it, but i wish it could be straight. but due to the kind of hair i have, i have to go through a lot of crap due get it to survive straight. when i was 14, i went straight, but then my hair started to break off really bad to where i had to get almost all of it cut off. i thought i looked awful. then i went back to curly and my hair grew back. but in the last few years, my hair has started to thin out due to stress. so now i dont know what to do.
|
(as already stated in the TR thread..) my hair is naturally curly, but i wear it straight every day...length is just below my chin, really texturized, but not layered..natural color is a medium brown, but i have blonde, caramel, and slightly darker brown highlights.
|
I used to have auburn curls, but I dyed them a lot. Now they're a dark brown/black sort of colour, though the roots are coming in golden brown for no apparent reason. My hair's in long layers to my shoulders, and it's kinda wavey now with the humidity. I usually pull it back anyway. I think I'm going to dye it back to red when term's over. I just wish it would straighten easily.
|
My hair and I dont get along most of the time. Sometimes when its in a good mood I'll get compliments on how its so pretty straight with the ends curled- which it does on its own!;)
My hair is like naturally wavy. Towards my roots, its straight and then as you get to my ends, it starts to curl. Normally I blow dry it straight, and rarely Ill put mousse in it and it curls. Right now its past my shoulders, I guess by my bra strap. I want it a little longer so I can wear it curly more often. Thing is, when I wear it curly, the curls bounce up all the way to above my shoulders, so I dont like that. I have a round face, so anything above my shoulders makes me feel like I have an even bigger face. My mom wants me to cut my hair short, but wouldnt that make my round face, and cheeks look HUGE? |
My hair is naturally dark blonde and straight.
When I was little, I wanted curly hair (this was back in the 80's when perms were in). My mom and my sister had curly hair and I was so jealous. As I got older, I realized how hard it is to maintain curly hair. I am now thankful that I can shower and let my hair dry naturally without worry that it will get frizzy. But, my hair is very thin and it won't hold any curls from the hot curling irons. When I had my hair done for prom, it took my stylist 2 1/2 hours and about a ton of pomade (sp?) to get my hair to stay up. It stayed for maybe half of prom before falling out. |
The color of my hair is dark brown with red chunk streaks in it. I have been punk red, jet black, burgandy, and highlighted with burgandy. It is really curly, and I only straighten it about once or twice a year, it takes too long to even mess with doing it more than that. I was born with jet black stick strait hair, it went dark brown and curly aobut a year and a helf later. Right now it falls just past my shoulders, but I am growing it out to about half way down my back.
|
My hair is stick straight....occasionally, I wish I had hair like Jordan on SL1. It just looks so cute!
It is naturally dark blonde, but it has been bleached blonde, red, purple, and dark brown. Right now, it's the naturally color with blonde highlights. |
I have straight, thick hair. I remember when I was in elementary school I would get headaches because my ponytails were so heavy! My hair used to always be right at my waist, but I recently had a bad haircut and had to get 10 inches cut off!
I got used to my shorter do and decided that it was time for a change. Last week, I cut off more (it's at my shoulders) and got hightlights (blonde and caramel colored). It's also layered in front and I curl the ends under everyday. |
I am straight.

I have stick-straight, long, dark hair.
I was forced to have a bowl cut as a young child. That should be a punishment reserved for the ninth level of hell. This was in the '70s when EVERY woman and girl had long hair... except me :( At long last I was able to convince my mother that I did not look cute with short hair, and so I was allowed to let it grow. When I was in high school, I had my hair permed. It didn't look good on me, especially during those first few days when you're not allowed to wash your hair - it looked like I had little curly wires coming out of my scalp. My hair ignores curling irons to the point where I've long since given up even trying. So I've learned to live with my hair the way it is - usually back in a ponytail or up in a bun. |
My hair has a natural wave to it and, since I have layers, even if I blow dry it straight, looks slightly wavy. So, I vary between putting it in velco rollers to straighten it, curling it with hot rollers, or scruntching it up with Clinique's Defined Curls so that it is completely wavy. It's too long for a curling iron.
|
My hair is curly-- often ringlet curls--naturally-- it is also a medium blonde. I used to hate my hair-it is hard to manage. My hair is very thinck and coarse. Now, I love my curls-- every so often I will have my hair girl using a flat iron on my hair--but I prefer the curls.
And no one ever believes that all the curl is mine. -wendi |
I naturally have long, straight strawberry blonde hair. In an irrational stint 6 months ago I tried to make it lighter with sun-in (I know, I know, I'll never do it again). It actually looks ok, a lot of people don't notice, or ask me if it's darker (???) .
I'm going to get it "fixed" when the summer is over (why dye your hair when it's going to get bleached right out by the sun??). Hopefully in 5 years, I'll have a full head of my natural color back (too long!). |
Ooops, what if you are bald?
Mine is kinky, well wavy, hair that is!:) It is still attatched but not with double sided tape! |
I have quite curly hair and it's totally me. I always say I am a curly kind of girl! :D If I put mousse in and let it air dry, it's big, wavy curls. If I diffues it, it's very defined pretty tight curls. Luckily it's really soft and not too thick.
It's medium brown with lots of red in it. My hair stylist says "with your natural apricot highlights, I wouldn't touch your hair with artificial color even if you paid me double!" I don't know about all that, but I guess the color is nice which saves me from spending tons of money on highlights and all that jazz! I do blow it out accasionally when I'm sure it's not going to rain for a few days! |
My hair drives me crazy. It's really curly on top (I have ringlets, if I style it right) but the bottom's stick straight. It's dark brown and has a tendency to frizz because of the curls.
I normally hate to bother with it, but occasionally blow dry it out. It looks horrible blow dried when it is humid, which is quite often in Florida. |
I have baby fine stick straight hair. It's probably to my bra strap and is blonde highlights. Naturally it is a medium brown but it was so boring. My hair can be such a hassle because it has absolutely no body but sometimes i wear it scrunchy and then it is cute...it depends on what mood i'm in.
|
My hair is naturally dark dark brown (looks black from far) and very thick and curly. Do I hate it? Yes I do. My curly hair is not pretty at all. Its all a mess no matter how much gel or any other product I use. So dryers and flat irons are my best friends. So are John Freida products (especially the hair serum and secret weapon, that is what its called, seriously!) I love my hair straight and 2 years ago I also decided it to dye it a chocolate cherry color (that what loreal calls it). So now my hair is always straight and a dark burgundy color. I love it like this (even though the maintence is ridiculous). I wish I could find a way to make my curly hair look cute
|
I, like may of you, have a love/hate relationship with my hair. It's long (about 4 inches below the bra-strap that goes across my back) with angles in the front that start 4 inches below my chin (just above my shoulders so when I curl them under they hang right)....I also *GASP* have BANGS...I couldn't NOT have bangs though because I have a widow's peak and look ridiculous w/o them.
I was big on the hair dye for a few years, I did highlights, frosting, chunking, you name it...I got over that last year and did one all over color in my natural hair color. It's grown out now, so now my hair has this soft blend of medium/dark brown fading to medium/light brown from root to tip. It's fairly thick and gets sort of wavy/curly at the end if I let it air dry. When it's blown dry it's bone straight but I curl it under at the ends to accent the layering.... My aunt owns a salon so I get treatments and the like whenever I want and for pratically free! (yay for family with connections! hehe) |
my hair is stick straight and heavy (not thick) as all hell. i would love curly hair! wavy would be nice too. i hate the dark brown color so i highlight it to death
|
BOTH!
My hair has some natural waviness to it so I get the best of both worlds. I can wear it straight pretty easily so I don't have to use tons of product and straightening irons. I also can dab some gel on it and get a loose wave too. The only thing I hate is when I wear it straight and the humidity makes it go gaga! |
I have very straight hair. It's brown with some natural highlights. Like a stupid person, I cut 8 inches off of it last year after my ex and I split up. It's slowly growing back out. It's a couple of inches past my shoulders.
Do I like it? It's ok. Everyone has always said I had the best hair, but I'm not sure it's that great!! |
I have really thick slightly wavy dark blonde hair with white-blonde and carmel highlights. It's in a shoulder-length cut with lots of layers and is really pretty - as long as someone else does it. I can't do hair! :(
|
I just recently discovered that my hair is not naturally straight like I previously thought it was and I actually have really pretty curls if I just let my hair air dry after putting some gel in it! It is dark brown, layered, and it just skims my shoulders. I want to grow it out b/c I think I look best with my hair up and longer hair means it's easier to put up, so......but we'll see.
However, I like this curly look, so now I am all about putting a little gel in my hair and letting it air dry. But before this I would blow dry my hair every single day and then curl it with hot curlers usually to get it real curly and then I'd put it up. Stupid I know to go through all that just to pull it up, but hey, I'm weird what can I say? ;) |
I currently have short, dark brown curly hair. I dont like having curly hair now, bc I have learned a valuable lesson: if you have naturally curly hair, dont get it cut short - you will only look like mike brady. I dont wear it curly, I spend tons of time pulling it out smooth.
|
Mine is light mahogany chestnut (that is the shade I use) with major brunette roots showing. It is long but it could go curly or straight depending upon what I do with it. http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...on/redhair.gif http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...happy/wink.gif :D

I am a wavy kind of girl! I blow-dry it straight after I shower most of the time. Sometimes, when it's yucky outside or I am having a lazy day, I put gel in my hair and just let it air dry. I am a medium brunette, with blonde highlights. My hair falls just below my shoulders (it was longer, but I cut it last week to get ready for the summer).
Sometimes I wish I had really dark, straight almost-black hair. But my complexion wouldn't work well with that, so I settle for what I have. I am a typical female...I always want what I can't have ;) |
I have hair that goes a little past my shoulders and is naturally curly, but I straighten it every time I wash it. I use a flat iron because I never could quite master the round brush :p
I highlight my hair. It is naturally a very dark brown, but I highlight it with a light brown/dark blonde and it looks so much better! My natural brown is a blah brown! |
Well my hair is supposed to be really dark brown (a shade or two lighter than black) but the Florida sun has made it somewhere between a medium and dark brown, closer to medium. I grew out all the layers and it's just above my shoulders. It's curly but not the fun curly... more like kinks, so I have to blow dry it straight every day. :(
So can I ask some hair advice? 1. Does anyone know how to scrunch and make the big, beautiful curls? 2. The sun has really dried out my hair. I try using shampoo for dry/damaged hair and ThermaSilk every day, and I just recently started using a leave-in conditioner, but it's still fairly dry. Even not blow-drying it doesn't seem to help. Are there any conditioners or anything you know of that can make my hair normal? |
