How exciting!!!! I would love to see pictures! Best of wishes to you and your fiance! Will there be any A Phi "accents"?
My little sis just got engaged and she asked me to be in her wedding party! :D I love weddings! |
Thanks for all the good wishes. All of my bridesmaids (7) are my sisters. Well, my maid of honor is my cousin, but her mom is a phi! There are definite phi accents. The flowers are lilies (though not lilies of the valley, they said they were to hard to use) and the colors are a burgundy and silver....the dresses are blue, but the girls are wearing their pins. Mike is a Pi Kappa Phi, so I am carrying white lilies with red roses (his flower). There will be other things also, but right now Im brain dead.
15 days to go!!!! |
Sigh... now I want my A Phi/TKE wedding. At least the colors are similar so I could possibly pull it off. :p
|
Congratulations!
:::is jealous of all the APhis because brown and mode do not make for a pretty wedding::: |
ivysis, I love all the fraternity touches you are incorporating in your wedding! I too am getting married this summer (early August) and although it's a "family only" wedding, I'm trying to get the florist to find white forget-me-nots for my bouquet and I plan on putting a special badge I rescued off eBay in my dress too....and it used to belong to a Beta Gamma chapter member! Small world!

to a CA in CA
The only problems with fresh forget me nots is that the wilt really fast. That's what the alums told us cause we wanted to use fresh forget me nots for pref. ceremony during recruitment. But florists are crafty, maybe they can find a way not to make them wilt so fast.:D

Not only do they wilt fast but in certain parts of the country you cannot get them. Same with lilies of the valley. Last year our florist did locate some lilies of the valley, but they were $120 a bunch!!!!!!!!! We already have a flower budget that would blow your mind. That was a BIG NO!
|
I wonder if you can order fresh flowers via the net if their not seasonal in your location. I know you can do it with fruit.
I hope it all work out for ya!!!! |
You can, but they are still super expensive b/c they are rare flowers and are expensive everywhere.
Check out Beautiful Orchids. You can order a bunch of lily of the valley for $85. http://www.beautifulorchids.com/xoti...e_valley_1.jpg Be aware, they picture they post is of THREE bunches. They claim to pick these along the Santa Barbara coast line, but we have tried to get lily of the valley in SB for rush for years to no avail. They bloom in the spring and summer, so that may be a part of the problem. When you look at Teleflora they do not even list places online that sell forget-me-nots or lily of the valley. It is a never ending quest. LD |
Since we're on the subject of weddings, here's my question: 2 of my sisters are getting married this summer... 1 is my pledge sister, and the other is my big sister! Does anyone have any good ideas for really great a-phi presents I can get for them?
|
I love the candlelights we have at weddings. One of our sisters makes a beautiful candle for the bride and at the reception we sing the song and do one pass around. Its so special because so many of our sisters are still close and attend each others weddings
|
We moved last year and today I was poking around in our new garden. Much to my delight I found both Forget-Me-Nots and Lily of the Valley are rampant in my back yard!!! I may have to even cut back some of the Forget Me Nots there are so many of them ... would you like me to send you some, CA in CA???
(By the way, I didn't know you were getting married? And at Disneyworld??? I'm very jealous! I was just down in CA last week and my friend and I went to Disneyland for 2 days... what fun!) I got married in the fall and our flowers were VERY out of season then. So I made do with White Roses (my favorite non-AP flower) and these blue flowers that looked like forget me nots but aren't. Too bad I can't remember what they are called!!! |

ANYTIME!!!
I was thinking of having a mini-party anyways. Anyone wanna come to a Barbeque in my backyard??? (Before the Forget-Me-nots and Lily's all die of course.) |
