Insomniacs please check in...

Anybody else have problems sleeping at night? I can't remember the last time that I slept through the entire night! :(

mu_agd 05-01-2003 11:24 AM

me me me!!! i usually wake up around 3 or 4....

AOX81 05-01-2003 11:25 AM

I usually wake up 3 or 4 times if I can even get to sleep. :(

SATX*APhi 05-01-2003 11:28 AM

I'm not an insomniac, but I don't get sleepy 'til some time between midnight and 1:00am. Even if I know I have to wake up super early, I won't fall asleep early the night before. I'll just toss and turn in bed, or end up watching TV 'til midnight or 1:00am.

ZTAngel 05-01-2003 11:35 AM

me!
I have a lot of trouble sleeping if I know that I have to be up early. I don't know what I'm going to do once I get a job! It's especially if I'm nervous about something (I have an interview in the morning or an exam).

AOX81 05-01-2003 11:39 AM

I get up around 4:30am every day when my husbands alarm goes off for work. You'd think that I would be tired enough by the end of the day that I would crawl into bed and die.

Maybe I can't sleep because I think too much. :(

docetboy 05-01-2003 11:40 AM

Does not being able to get to sleep till 2 or 3 count? Other than that, I always sleep as long as possible!

When you get to sleep do you stay asleep for a long time or do you keep waking up?

Hootie 05-01-2003 11:44 AM

I'm generally up late...hell, the best shows come on after Midnight : Street Smarts, Elimidate, Blind Date....LOL

I don't wake up unless I have to (and even then I sometimes don't!)

yeah you don't count...

ZTABullwinkle 05-01-2003 01:52 PM

Man, this thread is for me! I just flat out can't sleep! I sleep in very disjointed patterns. I am awake at odd times. I have no pattern to it. It stinks! Not to mention wrecks havoc on my school schedule! :(

sugar and spice 05-01-2003 02:36 PM

I've always had problems with insomnia. I think that I can count on one hand the number of times I've fallen asleep before 2 this year . . . usually it's closer to 3, and lately it's been falling more in the 4-6 range. Thank god I'm still in college and I can sleep till 10, but I have no idea what will happen to me once I get a job where I have to wake up at 6!

Optimist Prime 05-01-2003 03:18 PM

Insomia means you can't get to sleep. :( I think they're are different types of it. I usually don't fall asleep before 3 am at the earlierest.

sigmagrrl 05-01-2003 04:14 PM

I haven't slept through the night without the assistance of PM drugs (Tylenol PM, Excedrin PM, etc) in over 4 years. And even then I get up and cannot go back to sleep at least twice a week....

cash78mere 05-01-2003 05:01 PM

haven't slept without prescription drugs in 7 years.....

AOX81 05-02-2003 11:02 AM

Maybe I'll pick up some Tylenol PM. :)

thesweetestone 05-03-2003 02:49 AM

i'm checking in. i'm up late almost every night.

MSSTCY1 05-03-2003 02:52 AM

I haven't been to bed before 4am in MONTHS!! It doesn't matter what time I get up, if I go out at night, or whatnot. I cannot get myself to go to bed before then. Somethings wrong with me.

Chief 05-06-2003 08:32 PM

Ah...I feel at home now. It's good to know I'm not the only one. On the weekends, I'm OK since I go out and tend to stay up later and have a few drinks before going home to bed. But I can't remember the last time I made it through a weeknight without waking up at least a couple of times, usually at 2 or 3 in the morning. Of course, this is all assuming I can fall asleep at a decent hour, which doesn't happen very often either. I think like AOX81, I just think too much when I'm in bed. My body will be exhausted, but my brain is still going 100 miles an hour--and usually not even thinking about anything important, but stupid crap like various songs running through my head or something. Maybe it's time to look into Nytol.

Cluey 06-06-2003 12:34 AM

So, yeah, I can't sleep and I don't want to take Tylenol PM.

Anyone else still awake?

docetboy 06-06-2003 12:35 AM

yup

steelepike 06-06-2003 12:36 AM

word up my brethren of the night

sugar and spice 06-06-2003 12:41 AM

Why?!

Just curious :)

tinydancer 06-06-2003 12:47 AM

I can usually go to sleep easily, but I can't STAY asleep. I can be dog tired, go to sleep, and sleep for a BIG 45 minutes. Then I am wide awake, even though I am tired. I don't sleep very soundly, either. I have real vivid dreams and sometimes they will wake me up and then I can't drop back off again. I sometimes take Excederin PM or Percogesic so I can stay asleep, but they tend to make me groggy in the morning when I HAVE to get up.

Bleah, I hate this isht.

That's my problem, too! Last night, I took some Tylenol PM and this morning, I was dragging butt majorly. My mom made some snide comment on how horrible I looked, so I shot her the look that could kill. She didn't say anything else... :)

It's hard when you have to work with a parent...

I'm on this medication that has completely thrown off my sleep schedule. Somehow, it has managed to make me sleepy whenever I shouldn't be (like whenever the sun is out) and wide awake when it's dark out. My friends are starting to joke that I've turned into a vampire . . .

Fortunately I'm not working or in school right now, but in another week I start my summer classes, so I'm going to have to work something out by then. :)

Cluey 06-06-2003 01:01 AM

Eeek!

I hope things get worked out before you go back to class. I can't even imagine how that would work...

Come on, insomniacs, we're having a chat!

tinydancer 06-06-2003 01:29 AM

Yeah, I'm glad school is out so at least I don't have to get up so early for work. My water aerobics class meets MWF at 8:30 - that's not too early, and I can come home and go back to bed if I want. It rained almost all day today and was fairly cool; if it's raining or too cold in the morning, I'm not going (it's an outdoor pool)
Last night I had a dream about a friend of mine getting a new house. It was a real cute house, but I went inside and there were all these little frogs on the floor. I HATE frogs - they were very small and very white with black polka dots. I started screaming at her "GET THEM OUT OF HERE!!" I ran out of the house and then I woke up.

I know - I'm weird!! That's an example of the dreams I have.

edited to add: OK, I guess everyone else has gone to bed. It's after 1, so I guess I'll try to go to sleep.. But I may be back in about 45 minutes if I wake back up.....

nucutiepie 06-06-2003 04:01 AM

Me! My entire life I have had tons of trouble falling asleep... which means I have also had tons of toruble getting up!

We were chatting on AIM. I totally missed this message somehow, so I didn't even know you were still awake. Sorry, Lizz! :)

polarpi 06-07-2003 05:38 AM

Can I be an honorary insomniac if I'm still up this late after getting up at 7am yesterday morning and I'm still not super sleepy? :)

GeekyPenguin 06-07-2003 11:59 AM

Hello my sleep-issued friends! My problems started fall semester and have gotten increasingly worse. Last semester I would get up reasonably early in the morning after waking up 20 times during the night, function okay all day, go over to Lee's, fall asleep at like 8:00, and have him wake me up at 2. I'd then drive home, go to sleep (or try), and wake up 30 bajillion times.

Now I just can't fall asleep at night, no matter how tiring my day was - and I wake up about 2 times, but I've been having nightmares, so then I wake up more. :(

Tom Earp 06-07-2003 09:28 PM

What is insomnioc?

Hell, I dont sleep if lucky 4/5 hrs a day!

Damn Kids, wait da till you get old, you cannot sleep at all!

I leave TV on All Nite so I can see wah it is on!:)

Ah as they say in My geno, sh*t be happenin!!!!:D

AXO_MOM_3 06-07-2003 11:33 PM

I'm a night owl/insomniac! I'll be dog tired, and then get in my bed and end up still awake an hour or two later. It's like I can't shut my mind up - always thinking of anything and everything! Then when I finally do go to sleep, I have vivid dreams or nightmares. Sometimes my dreams are so busy, I wake up feeling even worse then when I went to bed! I rarely take sleep aids - just survive on 3-6 hours each night. Usually DH lets me sleep late on Saturday mornings and I guess I catch up on it all then! Looking forward to the rest of this summer when I won't have to get up! Put a box of cereal out and let the girls have at it!

tnxbutterfly 06-08-2003 12:21 AM

I'm surprised that I'm not an insomniac. Having worked in a call center for the past 17 months, I've worked every shift know to man

Like 2 weeks ago, my shift was 12-9pm, now it's 7am-4pm. Having my shift changed every 4 weeks really screws up my sleep pattern.

DeltaBetaBaby 06-08-2003 06:51 AM

STUPID JET LAG!!!

PhiPsiRuss 11-20-2003 08:05 AM

***BUMP***

I went to sleep at midnight and, thanks to the windows rattling from the wind, woke up at 2:00. Haven't been able to get back to sleep.

Unregistered- 11-20-2003 08:06 AM

It's too "cold" to sleep.
