Tropical Sprite Remix

That was the worst soda I've ever tasted!!! If you're smart don't try it.

What is up w/ all of these funky sodas lately? It's as if companies are having contests to see who can make the nastiest sodas.

TechAPhi 04-19-2003 09:12 PM

We had an interesting write on our CNN/Money site about the new cola wars. The article talks about this newfangled soda, as well as (gasp!) Sprite MINT! That sounds a bit gross to me.

KSigkid 04-19-2003 09:12 PM

I miss Clear Pepsi.

Now that was a good soda.

PhiSigSandy 04-20-2003 01:14 AM

I miss clear Pepsi too!!! what ever happened to that soda? did it not do very good in sales? I personally thought it was quite good!:)

The stuff had a strange taste. An interesting idea though -- just not a good one.

sigmagrrl 04-20-2003 09:37 AM

I am very proud to say that I have not had soda in almost 5 years! :D

SO, unfortunately, I will just have to believe you all. I don't want to break my streak!

texas*princess 04-20-2003 11:43 AM

Wowie.. tropical & mint Sprite just sound NASTY. I'm not a big fan of the cola-remixes (Vanilla Coke, Pibb Xtra, Pepsi Blue, etc etc etc), but I do like Cherry Coke, & Red Fusion!

LeslieAGD 04-20-2003 02:37 PM

Apparently these companies have never heard of the phrase..."don't mess with a good thing."

straightBOS 04-20-2003 03:15 PM

Diet Pepsi Twist is good. (drinking a can of it now)

I also miss the clear Pepsi, I thought that was here to stay.

I mistakingly tried a Vanilla Coke Slurpee once, :( .. won't make that mistake again....

I think they are trying to spread themselves as thin as possible to ensure that EVERYONE is drinking theri brand of soft drink.

bucutie02 04-20-2003 08:24 PM

I would be willing to try tropical sprite with a positive attitude, but I dont know about Mint Sprite. That is just wrong!

Dionysus 04-20-2003 08:59 PM

I want SURGE back!!!

AlphaSigOU 04-20-2003 09:14 PM

Pepsi Blue -- Ewww! Very much an acquired taste.
Pepsi Twist -- Not bad.
Mountain Dew Code Red -- Good
Upside Down 7-up (or whatever the f*ck it's supposed to be called) -- OK, but don't f*ck up a good thing.
Dr. Pepper Red Fusion -- Not bad.
Vanilla Coke -- BRAAAAAAAALLLPH! Especially when it's warm.
Cherry Coke -- Good.
Big Red -- Texas tradition. Faygo Redpop is a little sweeter, but that's if ya live up in Detroit! :)
Jolt Cola -- Nastiest tasting sh*t I've ever tasted, plus all that caffeine gave me a headache.
Pibb Xtra - Not much difference, if any, from regular Pibb. Doesn't hold a candle to Dr. Pepper.

midwesterngirl 05-04-2003 12:46 PM

I tried the new Orange Mountain Dew this morning.I found it to be quite nasty. It tastes like Tang. For those old enough to remember the old St Joseph's Childrens aspirin that is exactly the way it tastes.Same aftertaste and everything.

Honeykiss1974 05-04-2003 02:21 PM

Tropical Spite isn't bad to me. It taste somewhat like Clearly Canadian flavored bottled water or the kind that Wal-mart sells.
I'd drink it again. :)

AUDeltaGam 05-04-2003 02:51 PM

Does anyone remember Citra?

I loved that stuff!

33girl 05-04-2003 04:20 PM

Sprite Remix was OK...I actually liked it better than regular Sprite. I can't say the same for the upside down 7up with caffeine...I had no idea it was GREEN!! I thought that was the bottle. :p

Winterbloom 05-04-2003 05:30 PM

I love Vanilla Coke to pieces, and Pepsi twist. I've been putting lemons in cokes for years. The Tropical Sprite was one of the wierdest cokes I've ever had, but I liked it okay. Pepsi Blue made a run through the Baltimore clubs and then vanished down here. Upside-down 7-up never made it out to central PA and I haven't been home long enough to find it. Code Red is a standard here for the programers and gamers, and it's a nice variation to Dew, coffee and No-Doze for all-nighters. I hate Red Fusion. I think that's all of our odd cokes.

sigmanuzk 05-04-2003 05:56 PM

The one good thing about these new sodas is that some of them make pretty good mixers.

My favorite is Code Red with SoCo 100 proof. Tasty.
As far as drinking them straight goes Vanilla Coke is alright as long as it's in a glass with ice, the diet version tastes very medicinal.

Pepsi twist is gross, I like real lime or lemon in cola but those taste like they put the stuff that's in those plastic lemons you buy in the supermarket, eww.

Pepsi blue is horrible, but red fusion is okay, with ice.

Orange Mountain Dew hasn't made it here yet.
The tropical sprite has been around for about a month but I haven't tried it, and I just don't think I'll ever try the new 7-up you don't fix what isn't broken, didn't anyone learn from the New Coke.

Clear pepsi was really good when it still tasted like cola, then it was changed to a mandarin orange flavor and was gross.

I miss the RC that came in a brown bottle I forget the name of it. Basically it came in beer bottle, the first time I came home with it my dad thought it was beer and I almost got grounded for life. Tasted really good though.

SATX*APhi 05-04-2003 07:01 PM

This stuff tastes like gummy bears. Gummy bears in a liquid form?! Yuck!

I thought the Tropical Sprite Remix tasted like a bunch of Skittles-- imagine all the Skittles flavors in your mouth at the same time.

As far as the other mixed drinks--- I am a Dr Pepper girl--the only pop I drink. I tried the Dr. P. Red Fusion--it was okay--- I happen to LOVE cherry Dr. Pepper from Sonic. I have been drinking those since I was 15 or so. yumm!!!

Lady Pi Phi 05-05-2003 10:02 AM

Sprite Mint is really good...well I like it. It just has to be really really cold for it to taste good, so make sure it's chilled well before drinking.

Peaches-n-Cream 05-05-2003 03:09 PM

I like Diet Cherry Coke and Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi. Diet Vanilla Coke isn't bad, but it isn't great either. I just started drinkng diet soda. I like the flavored ones better than the plain diet.

ORANGE??? If I had to pick a soda, I'd say Dew is my favorite, but Orange?? The red was bad enough. Its not nasty, but its not desireable.

Pepsi Twist is VERY good, the vanilla coke is like a bootleg cream soda, only not as good, and I only heard good stuff about the tropical sprite (haven't had it yet).

Mint Sprite sounds like an abomination...

Dionysus 05-07-2003 03:39 PM

I just tried Mt. Dew-Live Wire, it is off the hook. Good move for Mt. Dew, I didn't really even like
the original, but w/ the orange it's great.

BirthaBlue4 05-07-2003 05:45 PM

I just had the Sprite Remix

That Sprite Remix is NASTY AS ALL GET OUT. It tastes funny. I won't be getting that one again...

MoxieGrrl 05-07-2003 05:57 PM

The Sprite Remix will be good if they come out with a diet version of it. I found it a bit too sugary, but tasty over all. :)

Diet Pepsi Twist is heavenly.

tinydancer 05-08-2003 09:18 PM

Just saw the Tropical Sprite today at the "little store" but did not try one. I will, though. Can't decide if the Mint one sounds good or bad - have not seen it here but will look.

I do NOT like diet Coke, but did like the diet Coke lemon I had because there was absolutely nothing else to drink. I just like real Coke the best. Even when I am dieting I always allow myself one real Coke a day.

Best drink from the old college days - Dr. Pepper and sloe gin! I vaguely remember drinking those all night and then going skinny dipping in Lake Proctor!! (and you people thought I was an old square!!!!)

FiReKraCkEr 05-08-2003 10:15 PM

Sorry, bad post...

sororitygirl2 05-09-2003 12:07 AM

I have never even heard of most of these sodas... I guess I am just a little too plain-jane for my own good. I don't really even drink soda, and when I do, it is just Sprite or Gingerale... or Orange Crush... yum!

Anyway, who remembers OK Cola from the late 90s? We used to call 1-800-IFEELOK all the time in the middle of class. It was hilarious!

AlphaSigOU 05-09-2003 12:17 AM

So I got a 12-pack of Tropical Sprite Remix tonight at the local Wally World... not bad, though I'd wait until it's well chilled first before drinking.

I hear it mixes well with vodka.

AlphaSigOU 05-09-2003 01:21 AM

Gonna hafta try some this weekend... there's a little bit of Smirnoff that needs to be put to good use! :)

tinydancer 05-17-2003 10:07 PM

Finally tried it - it is soooooo SWEET!!!!

I think the vodka would probably help!!

Still can't find the mint Sprite - has anyone in the DFW area seen it yet?

AlphaSigOU 05-17-2003 11:07 PM

You're right, guys... the Smirnoff takes a little off the overly-sweet edge off of Tropical Sprite Remix -- that sh*t will sneak up on ya if you're not careful!

I think the Mint Sprite is being testmarketed somewhere in the northeast. I remember when Diet Coke was first test-marketed in Orlando, Florida, back in 1982.

AZpinkkittie 05-18-2003 01:10 AM

I'm loving the Tropical Sprite!!! It is very much an extra fizzy clearly canadian. Tasty and refreshing

juniorgrrl 05-18-2003 02:25 AM

I just tried the Tropical Sprite Remix a few days ago - it was awesome! I just wish they'd come out with a diet version - I hate "wasting" all those calories on a drink.

I love Diet Code Red - I just wish I could find it in 2 liter bottles around here - I can get cans but that's it.

In college, my friends would tease me for drinking Mt. Dew and vodka...what can I say? I'm a programmer/gamer at heart - and I loves me my Dew :D

Munchkin03 05-18-2003 02:29 AM

It tastes like cough syrup!

Jadey28 05-18-2003 03:59 AM

I just tried it tonight....not too bad but a little too bubbly for my normal style. I think I am going to try it with some vodka...yummy :p
