What was you fave college Freebie?

remember when they used to give out stuff on campus? what is your fave freebie?

Kevin 04-16-2003 02:19 PM

Pizza coupons... the only thing I actually ended up using.

33girl 04-16-2003 02:20 PM

The "good stuff boxes" with coupons, Nyquil, Tylenol and "feminine products" various and sundry. :p

PiKA2001 04-16-2003 02:22 PM

The only free stuff that they pass out here are condoms and lube.

White_Chocolate 04-16-2003 03:00 PM

so, i guess that was his fave

EagleChick19 04-16-2003 04:59 PM

Since I am in school, I would have to say that my favs. are the pizza coupons and free food. Free food is such as staple at LHU that no organization can hold a mtg without food. :)

ZTAMich 04-16-2003 05:13 PM

FREE midnight HOT breakfast in the caf during finals week...served by admin. members :D

texas*princess 04-16-2003 05:14 PM

All the Free food & beverages during Finals Week that was so generously served by RHA members!

bethany1982 04-16-2003 05:17 PM

Ah yes, free food!

OUlioness01 04-16-2003 06:14 PM

somehow we got duck tape and bubblewrap to sponsor greek week opening games last year and they gave everyone lots and lots of free bubblewrap! it was so much fun.

Kevlar281 04-16-2003 06:21 PM

T-Shirts - I like the free t-shirts even though it is a hassle to fill out the standard credit card forms that go along with the freebie. I never give out my real social so I haven’t received one card yet.

MSSTCY1 04-16-2003 06:44 PM

phone cards were always great.

Last year Student Foundation gave out flip flops at "Big Red Welcome". They were the cheap kind like you'd buy at Old Navy for $2.50 but they were super popular!

Also have to say the Health Center giving out "condom roses" was very creative. They basically took a condom with a red label, twisted a couple into the shape of a flower and used a floral stem to finish it off...they give them away at valentine's day, and I know more than one guy who gave them to his girlfriend (none in my house).

FAB*SpiceySpice 04-16-2003 11:17 PM

I think the most popular free item around here is condoms or coupon books haha. I really don't ever pick up anything up, but they always have free tshirts, candy, food, condoms, etc. I also know during Valentine's Day they give out these packs from the Shape office that have condoms and dental dams in them. When I first learned what a dental dam was I was um, a little embarassed to say the least. :o But I remember my old roommate and her boyfriend always had a ton of those around. Yikes.

sherbertlemons 04-16-2003 11:23 PM

At Spirit Splash, this big pep rally we have the Friday of Homecoming Week where everyone swims in the reflection pond, they hand out rubber duckys and rubber ducky key chains, with "UCF Spirit Splash" written on them. I think they're absolutely adorable. Of course, I haven't found a practical use for them yet, but oh well!

Free stadium cups are a constant at my school.

Also those feminine goody boxes. And hey, how about student health center birth control?? It may not be free, but $3/month ain't too shabby. Saves me $27 every 28 days!

Unregistered- 04-17-2003 12:08 AM

I liked those "Good Stuff" boxes that the bookstore used to pass out at the beginning of every semester -- it had Tylenol, Nyquil, deoderant, and tampons.

In the fall, the Board of Publications gave out student planners for free. Those always came in handy.

But my favorite had to be the annual Valentines' Day Condom Fair. I never saw so many damn varieties of condoms in my life! The whole point was to walk away with as many condoms as you could. :D

oooh, those are good too. For National Condom Week the health center does coloreds and flavoreds and makes these great posters that are stolen within a few hours...

Jadey28 04-17-2003 08:21 AM

My favorite freebie at college was the ice cream fair they had around finals week. You could basically create your own sundae with anything you wanted and then head off to class :D They also sponsered a free happy hour for the graduating seniors a few days before graduation. And a cookout....I guess I am not doing a good job of just picking one item, am I?

White_Chocolate 04-17-2003 11:09 AM

i think t-shirts are great
becuase i don't know man college students who dress up for class
unless it's later in the day

$3 a month? Damn, my school charges $14, and my father's insurance only makes me pay $8. My school is a rip-off.

I have to go for the free food. Mmm-good. :D

It's free at my school (the birth control that is). But really, when I consider how much I pay for school health insurance it's not actually that great.

My favourite freebie was the laundry bags they gave out Orientation week. So. Useful.

PM_Mama00 04-18-2003 10:07 AM

Free stuff at UofM-D? Hmm... free cookies during some booths, Panhel gives out free candy during rush, some groups have free pizza but it goes fast, there are always free food things ACROSS campus from where everyone hangs out (yep we're lazy... it's a small campus). During Welcome Week they give out SOME free stuff... nothing interesting tho.

I guess condoms wouldn't be very helpful on a commuter campus, unless people are gona go have sex in their car in the parking structure  .

Rick-- condoms AND lube? W...T...F?

lifesaver 04-18-2003 11:27 AM

All about the "Guys" boxes you get at the bookstore for free. Dug the razors and deoderant.

Also free OTC medicine, tylenol, drixoral, condoms. All free and you could grab handfuls of it at a time. Woudl last me months.

I got that stuff too. They put it in a pretty box. Razors were included also. :)

Free condoms from the health center. Of course, I never had the chance to use them myself.

White_Chocolate 04-21-2003 09:35 AM

i was just wondering. . .did anybody get unusual stuff from these giveaways. . .

juniorgrrl 04-21-2003 12:16 PM

I love when Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw come and whore themselves out in the law school.

They bring food. Good stuff. Packages of chex mix, grandma's cookies, sunchips, all sorts of awesome stuff...I've eaten lunch off those people many times.

Plus they're always giving out mini-notebooks, pens, etc. Westlaw gave out these really really nice mugs earlier in the year.

Law school freebies are much better than college...that's the only thing about law schol that's better than college :(
