Poodles and other breeds

I was reading a thread in the chit chat area
http://forums.greekchat.com/gcforums...threadid=32292 about dog breeds and Airesrising posted a link on how to find a breed that is good for you and you know what? I was MENT to be a SGRHO!! Poodle was my top selection!

What type/breed of dog or cat would you like to have or already have?

I would LOVE to have a Jack Russell terrier and a Papillon.

Here is the link to the dog breed selector----->http://animal.discovery.com/guides/d.../selector1.jsp

Yeah!

Based on the quiz both of the dogs that I like are dogs that are compatible with me: Chihuahuas and Pugs! :D

SeriousSigma22 04-14-2003 07:54 AM

Based on the information I'm most like a Cocker Spaniel or a Beagle, hey I've always admired Snoopy!

i own a papillion, she's the best dog, my parents own a west highland white terrier/poodle mix, he's smarter than me i think...

aRHOgantdeuce22 04-14-2003 12:55 PM

My matches were pretty on target--most of mine were terriers, although I think I would want a Maltese. I just want a little dog that I can play with instead of those horses we have out back--a Great Dane and a Doberman. I can't play with them...........I need something small and cute--like me!!:D

Oh, and the miniature poodle was a 93% match, followed by the toy poodle at 92%.;)

kizzie22 04-15-2003 02:12 PM

Cocker Spainel 97% and Minuature Poodle 94%:D

TRSimon 04-16-2003 10:03 PM

Miniature Poodle 97% Toy Poodle 94%

EEEEEEEE-YIP!!!

Sorhors Kizzie22 and TRSimons,

It was fate because you both were destined to be Sigmas!

BirthaBlue4 04-19-2003 03:14 PM

jubilance1922 03-13-2006 10:38 PM

I have severe allergies to dogs, and when my daddy died, my mother decided to get a dog (she had never lived alone). I honestly prayed that if she absolutely had to have a dog, it would be one that I could tolerate in all ways. The Lord answered my prayers in the form of a rescued Bichon Frise, who we call Buffy:
http://granite.dogster.com/pix/dogs/...1129131752.jpg

Buffy is now my baby, and I would kill for him! He's 17# of love & fluff - he had been a sire in a puppy mill when he was rescued. Just today, we saw a 1-year-old Bichon who looks SO much like Buffy, I'd like to see his blood lines! I need to say that having a pedigree wasn't as important as the allergy part. Buffy has hair, not fur, and has an inate knowledge of when you're low and when you need a cuddle.

The downside of Bichons is that they're notoriously hard to housebreak (which they didn't bother to do at the puppy mill; he's good, but not perfect), and you simply cannot leave them alone often. Many reputable breeders won't sell a puppy to someone who won't be home 24/7 with him! So, Buffy goes to work with my mom, sleeps with her, vacations with her, and is left at home for no more than an hour at a time - during which he will stay right in the window! We tried leaving him in the car while we went to a restaurant, but he blows the horn until we come back! For those who don't know Bichons, they naturally do a little clapping dance, as they were once circus dogs!

Like all dogs, Buffy can be a pain, but I wouldn't have it any other way. He put his paw prints on my heart with permenant ink!

jojapeach 03-13-2006 11:32 PM

what the WHAT?

Mine said a Boxer or Dalmation 100%. :o

I've always thought that Pomeranians (90%) were absolutely adorable! :D

Standard Poodle 92% :( Toy Poodle 90%

I have a miniature Pinscher/terrier mix. Maybe my answers shouldn't have been so middle ground, but then again, I know I'll visit a shelter in the future to adopt a mutt because mutts need love, too.

While I'm not really a dog person (I have a tuxedo cat), I have very fond memories of my grandmother's miniature black poodle Snuggles. He was very sweet and very smart.

On occasion I would 'babysit' my friend's greyhounds and realized they must be the most 'cat-like' dogs I've ever seen (temperment-wise) :D So maybe I could handle an Italian Greyhound (they can be litter box trained).

I love dogs and cats equally. I have a gray and white cat named Tabitha. She's mostly gray with white paws and feet.

I want a dog, preferably a Shar Pei, Siberian Husky, or Bichon Frise.

BlueReign 04-05-2006 05:11 PM

No Poodle for me! :( My top choice was American Water Spaniel which is the type of dog I grew up with.

We now have (I mean the kids have) a mixed breed of American Eskimo and Golden Retriever.

This is the link. The original that was posted no longer works.

Shar Peis are great dogs to have. I would definately recommend getting one.

This past weekend outside of Best Buy, this lady was giving away Labradoodles.......a mix of a lab and a poodle.

As weird as it sounds, they were actually really cute. They were chocolate and look like labs except they had a curly coat.

Here's an example of what they looked like

I have a tri-color (white, tan & black) Siberian Husky named Ice. He doesn't bark, but does growl in response to my voice. He's very friendly and loves people, especially kids. :)

He's a bit of a runt. He varies between 55 and 60 pounds. Ice eats everything. Fruits, paper, rice and turkey, bread, cereal, green....the list goes on and on.

With all of that eating, you would think he would gain weight.

Strongbeauty 05-04-2006 06:37 PM

My top was the Shetland Sheepdog
