Mine is definitely "Mandy" by Barry Manilow

This morning, the security guard that checks IDs looked at me very suspiciously. I was kind of insulted...that when I realized "Mandy" was blasting out of the stereo. :p

Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

chideltjen 03-27-2003 09:54 PM

justin timberlake's "cry me a river"

I don't know what it is about this song. It's overplayed and I can't stand boy bands in general however this song has now made it into my Mp3 player...

midwesterngirl 03-27-2003 10:00 PM

I love the 80's hair bands

Cinderella
Poison
Motley Crue
Twisted Sister

The more hair the better.I am also a die hard listener of Dee Snider's House of Hair.

the song is called '500 miles' not 1000

Jadey28 03-27-2003 10:46 PM

I am a secret fan of Britney Spears, Christina Aquilera, and the rest of the pop sensation. I am also a huge fan of 80's music, but that's music I'll play with anyone around!

My roommate wasn't supposed to be home for another hour so I was jamming out to Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney's "Say, Say, Say". She will never let me live that down.

MSSTCY1 03-28-2003 04:15 AM

Vanillia Ice and Ice, Ice, Baby is still the best song ever. I still listen to paula abdul ( forever your girl) and >gasp< new kids on the block - but only when I'm cleaning. I can't help it... I love all the old school early 90's music!

AlphaGamDiva 03-28-2003 05:45 AM

well, at least people know what i was talking about!!! :) thanks! plus, btw, both those songs i had no idea their titles OR performers, have been in my head at various times since i posted........

Uncle Kracker -Follow Me
"Come my Lady (Butterfly)- Don't remember the name of the group at the moment

Celine Dion

gphiangel624 03-28-2003 06:12 AM

Anything by U2 (was actually listening to "in the name of love" tonight in the car and I still get tears in my eyes from that song)

Mr. Big: To be with you, and Extreme: More than words... those songs are just classic.

It's not really cheesy, but I love Bond, this female instrumental band (mostly violins and stuff), and it's kind of techno-ish. I love it. Calms me down and lets me sleep.

Finally: the Empire Records and Clueless soundtracks... great music for it's time, and I still love it.

smiley-backstreet boys 'millennium' album'...i want it that way....' I love this CD-my son gave it to me.:D

Ditto on Barry Manilow, but I have to be in the mood.

Love to clean house to the Four Seasons.

midwesterngirl- I KNOW people would think I'm nuts if they saw me dancing around and singing with the rockers
Reminds me of the scene from "Working Girl" where Cyn says, "Sometimes I dance around in my underwear; that don't make me Madonna," !http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...py/roflmao.gif

Bond is awesome and definately NOT cheesy at all!!

To add my own little list to this:
I agree w/ smiley & justamom- "Millenium" by BSB is a good album (esp. "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely")

I can definately rock out to BAD 80s music...

But my friends definately look at me with the strangest looks when I break out my BLUE OYSTER CULT "GREATEST HITS" album....they just don't understand the beauty of the COWBELL ;)

33girl 03-28-2003 11:04 AM

come on over, come on over baby.... :D

also butterfly and faded. they remind me of good times at BAR.

Hey, watch it--U2 is not cheesy.

You know what I like? I really like 50s "bubblegum" doo-wop music...other people might think that's cheesy (well, actually...it is), but at least there aren't any bad words.

FAB*SpiceySpice 03-28-2003 01:24 PM

I am a BIG fan of NSYNC, New Kids On The Block, all 80's music, Michael Jackson's older stuff, Aqua (yikes that's the worst!), Backstreet Boys, etc. However I am pretty open with my love for this kind of music and I deal with being made fun of on a regular basis for this, but eh, oh well. I'll love JC Chasez til the day I die. ;)

Peaches-n-Cream 03-28-2003 02:12 PM

Toad the Wet Sprocket

ksig600 03-28-2003 02:21 PM

shadokat 03-28-2003 02:31 PM

Sorry Cream, but Toad the Wet Sprocket is NOT uncool or corny!! I love them. I don't think a lot of what people are saying is uncool or corny. I mean, yeah, I love Britney and such, and that is uncool, but c'mon! U2? Not uncool! Barry is not uncool either, and you tell anyone who thinks he is I said so!! :p

Barry Manilow, the Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Hootie and the Blowfish are guilty pleasures. I am not sure if they are corny or uncool. :p Anyway most people in the world are a little corny and uncool at one time or another. Or maybe that's just me. lol!

U2 is cool!

Jaggergirl 03-28-2003 07:34 PM

Styx. All of it. But especially Cyclorama.

That's right. I'm a Styx fan and I am not ashamed.

I am so impressed that a guy actually admitted that, and hey I think it's sexy when a guy knows his NSYNC songs.

My apologies... I didn't mean to say that U2 is cheesy or uncool, because they are definitely NOT! It's just that a lot of my friends are so unfamiliar with anything not off "Beautiful Day" (and then, they're only familiar with that song and Elevation), and I get ripped on for my listening to War and Rattle and Hum all the time... I'm going to listen now...

BTW, LOVE Toad the Wet Sprocket!

PhiDeltUCI 03-29-2003 04:22 AM

Dashboard Confessional, my friends give me so much crap for liking it cuz they say its girly and sad, but for some reason,i think it's good and i listen to it constantly.

how on EARTH could I have forgotten these two??!

It's sad...because today I got goosebumps from listening to the Cadet's 2000 show "We are the Future." How pathetic! lol

I totally have you all beat...

I own (and frequently rock out to) a Brady Bunch cd. My friends and I are all into it...the first song is the theme song, and then its just Barry Williams talking. "Hi, this is Barry Williams, the star of paramount picture's hit tv show, the brady bunch. All six of us brady kids (and then they each say their real name) and me, Barry Williams..."

It's funny, but I think you have to hear it to appreciate it. My personal fave is this song called "Sugar Shop" where they all sound like perverts. Greg sounds like a dirty old man going "candy...ive got such a sweet tooth...candy...i'd eat lots of you girl" and then marsha's all "candy...cherry lollypop now...sugar shopping all through the night"

I'm embarrasing myself so I'm going to go, but that's definitely the lamest cd I have. Makes one hell of a drunken show though.

ohhh, i completely blanked on that! i used to own the tape, but it has since disappeared..so don't be ashamed, you're not alone :) altho i must say..after hearing their version of "american pie" i want to puncture my eardrums

AlphaSigOU 03-30-2003 09:47 AM

Along with late '70s and '80s music, which I grew up with, I'll hafta admit I also inherited a liking for show tunes and musical soundtracks from my late grandfather.

My personal preferences lately on the show tunes end are the remastered and expanded James Bond film soundtracks recently released on CD. Some of the better ones: Goldfinger (adds four tracks that were only on the British release) Thunderball (nearly complete score - just wouldn't fit on one CD), You Only Live Twice (complete score), On Her Majesty's Secret Service (nearly complete - same as Thunderball - all of it wouldn't fit), Diamonds Are Forever (complete score, including alternate cues), and Live And Let Die (complete score). The rest of the remastered soundtracks are cleaned up versions of the original LP masters - the original music was either unavailable at the time or simply lost.

Other soundtracks I like listening to are Boogie Nights and Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion - both films spawned additional CDs of music from the film.

Sorry, with few exceptions, I don't quite identify with '90s music or the stuff played today.
